  • have you noticed that hal sutton and many other pros and people spoke about hogan by calling him 'mr. hogan' because of how much respect they had for him? and here tiger woods calls him by his first name.. it just shows tiger's arrogance and how big his ego is.

  • I think he was talking about the length of the swing and nothing of the right forearm take away, just a thought......

  • Golf Machine enthusiasts are all about physics, analysis, and idealism, and nothing about freedom, enjoyment, and playing the game of golf in the fewest number of strokes.

  • hogan deserved to be viewed by himself, check the best lessons on the tube out at my channel and my swing of course best on the tube ; ) and thanks

  • tiger woods is a silver spoon, hogan dug it out of the dirt from poverty , woods is a ass clown whom I have no respect for no matter what he wins or achieves, everything in life was handed to him from his early beginnings to his money contracts. i hope he never plays again

  • Handed to him? Respect or not if you think that Tiger didn't earn what he has you have no idea about work ethic. Nobody who gets to that level just gets it handed to him. Your very confused.

  • hey dumbass, every pro gets things handed to him. Especially when your the best golfer that ever lived!

  • Tiger is the biggest self-obsessed, childish Jack-Off. He'll never be anywhere close to the stature of Hogan.

  • he does have 70 wins ---you would say hogan was not self obsessed???common----if your saying hogan conducted himself better, had better character --i would agree

  • i think tiger ment so say :ben unerstood his swing better than ill ever understand mine.... lol

  • @lhwood777 HAHAHA

  • Hogan is documented numerous times specifically stating that he took the club back across his chest with his left arm. He was very adamant about it. He said many amateurs and even a few pros try taking it back with their right, but he said "you have to do it with your left." So what we have here is someone definitely projecting their own philosophy on to a film of a late great golfer. So be it. We see this everywhere now. Hogan's books, his videos, and his article quotes are really all we have.

  • You said it, satchmo. So many people have projected their own ideas in that way, filtering Hogan and altering him to "support" their own views (and making money along the way).

  • You certainly can take it back with your right (hand, elbow, etc.) and make a valid swing. But yes, absolutely Hogan didn't do that (as I said earlier). If you understand the golf swing you should be able to do both, be able to explain the pros and cons, and be able to demonstrate.

  • True...

  • moe norman was the best ball striker but hogan was the best player

  • moe norman was an ass clown

  • his right hand in the 1st part looks like a bird when he nestles his grip. i don't know about a hawk, but definitely a bird.

  • golf is all 80% the rest mechanics . If you let the body work the body you wont accomplish anyhting , . if you let the brain work the whole process you will. Thats the secret to golf. why do you think moe norman could hit every shot the same ./ yes he had a great plane to the ball but that is only because of his genius mind /. Its TRUE.

  • Have you even read Modern Fundementals. He didn't take his right arm back to orchestrate the back swing.Thats just an illusion caused by the angle of the camera. He moved the hands, forearms and shoulders and then turned the chest.

  • the dude talking at 1:20 is completely clueless

  • That dude is david orr, and he knows a lot about the golf swing, and he has a great swing.

  • dude you dont joke about that

  • I wasn't joking... just saying it was kind of a coincidence

  • it's like steve irwin dying from a stingray instead of a croc

  • or bobby fisher dieing at 64 the number of squares on a chess board

  • I think that is Mason Rudolf he is talking to in the 1 segment.I would love to hear what he is telling him about the right hand.

  • he actually preferred the fade because he had a terrible bout with the hooks...his stance is set up to prevent himself from hitting draws b/c he was afraid the draw would turn into a hook...its in his book

  • look at how flexible his left index finger is when he shows the grip (41 seconds into video) that is harder than it looks.

  • It's amazing what completely ridiculous things people focus on in the golf swing. Left index finger flexibility? Seriously, dude...

  • yeah....when was your last masters win?......yeah thought so. Leave the genius comments to the winners......

  • I'm sorry, DocCrunch won the Masters? Wow, I must have missed that.

    Go drink more beer, dipshit.

  • dipshit...your the one making idiotic comments.....keep it up. its funnny stuff.

  • So wait, you're telling me it was Ben Hogan who said how important a flexible left index finger is to the golf swing and not some complete moron on youtube? Or did DocCrunch win the Masters? Which is it, you bloated moron?

Go drink some more beer, you fat f*ck.

  • lol nice....i can see they cancelled school today.

  • I accept your surrender.

  • whatever you gotta tell yourself kid.

  • Wait, you still haven't told me - did Ben Hogan talk about the importance of a flexible left index finger or did DocCrunch win the Masters? Which is it you bloated prick?

    I accept your surrender.

  • actually, it makes total sense

  • How?

  • create lag, stay loose and not tense up... kinda simple stuff

  • you are a douche bag.....

  • Is that good? Sounds like your one of them foreigners! American by any chance?

  • Funny, your Mum told me last night that you were the accident when she caught a tramp with his cock out.

  • Shoulders or lower body first? The lower body always moves the first, back or down, regardless of your intent. Either way can work.

    Takeaway? Anyway!

The simplest way works the best!

  • KOC, where did you find the footage of Hogan demonstrating the grip? Is there more where that came from? That is spectacular footage, for someone who is a student of Hogan's swing. Thank you.

  • It's from a film that he did when he was 65. It was not for public viewing. Do a search for Hawk Hogan and you should find it.

  • I like the shape of Hogan's swing, but not all of the little quirks thrown in to prevent a hook. I'm trying to use a Hogan-esque swing SHAPE, but not all of the little anti-left additives.

  • Can be done, I believe. The basic fundamentals of coil, starting the downswing from the ground up, etc., still hold, and those are the things Hogan really articulated for good players. His anti-hook stuff was really a personal adjustment to basic fundamentals that should work for any reasonably athletic person.

  • Also, you look at what he says about the first move down--how important it is to start from the ground up, not the shoulders down--it's amazing to think how many players who say they're Hogan disciples actually dominate the swing with their shoulders, particularly at the change of direction. Hogan really didn't drag his arms and the club through impact with the shoulders; in fact, if you look at almost every DTL photo of him just before impact, his shoulders are still holding a fraction closed.

  • This idea that he only hit fades is wrong. He could hit a draw at will, or any shot shape he wanted. He just preferred the fade as it's more reliable.

  • homer kelley said that right forearm takeaway was the way he would do it! Now of course ben hogan did the same!!!!So many people using his name since he is dead to bullshit that he did it the way they are teaching!!fucking crap !!

  • No need to use words such as "fxxking crap" here. The clip is made by me and it is my own opinion. You deserved your opinion and me too.

Hey, as a Hogan fan, i know and you know what he said about the takeaway...RFT is just what i perceived. Take it or leave it.

  • Really so when did Hogan talk about RFT?? why don't you list the 24 components in his swing so we can all have a good laugh

  • I am sure you are not interested in TGM stuffs, but if you did, go to see Justin Tang in your country.

  • I press the wrong bottom...don't mean to remove your post. I did post my opinion in the forum anyway.

  • delete all of them if you want!! i'm still waiting for the 24 components

  • Have that already!

  • don't see it !

  • TGM written by a man from a garage who could not play golf to any high degree.Right forearm takeaway = ben hogan single action wrist = ben hogan What a joke. Can any TGM person swing like Hogan NOPE . 24 components in a swing ask 10 tgm experts for an answer on hogan's swing and 10 different answers.Hogan was way beyond the inadequate structure of TGM

  • Well said.

Said it before, will say it again: You've got 12-handicappers all over the Web spending endless hours discussing points that probably never would have entered the thoughts of somebody like Nicklaus, Snead, Woods, or even Hogan. Hogan was far less complicated a technician than people think; they project their own pet theories onto him. But if the golf swing were as complicated as these guys make it out to be, nobody could play for a living.

  • Nicklaus worked on about five things in his entire career. So is Woods. So did Snead. Really, so did Hogan. Yeah, it's possible to go into endless permutations on those fundamentals, but to what end? If these guys wanted the simplest version they could get, what are so many amateurs doing in these endless discussions about 291 positions of the swing?

  • if im not mistaken, hogan says he took the club away with his hands. he says that the hips and knees should only turn as they are pulled by the arms pulling the torso. this is what david orr is talkin bout. wen you say the man could not play i think your inaccurate. and even if he couldnt, that still doesnt mean he didnt kno what he was talkin about. tour players only need to know what works for them, not for everybody

  • He didn't say right elbow or right forearm. TGMers have it all wrong on Hogan, largely because TGMers love the right dominant model.

  • Yep . Been waiting for the 24 components from the experts but after seeing their golf swings It cracks me up ..Just so unathletic.can you imagine these dimwits breaking 100 with the gear Hogan played with in a us open. I will agree that Hogan had educated hands

  • i agree---fully and im a certified tgm guy---there are some good things but you are right ask 10 different tgm guys you get 10 different answers

  • It makes me sick to have TGMer put words into Hogan's mouth. I refer to the right elbow takeaway verbage. You can make an effective swing using right elbow takeaway, but that is not what Hogan did in his swing.

  • 100% ole David Orr

  • Can you guess? hehe

  • probably, but go on. hehe

  • David Orr?

  • whos that talking about RFT?
