  • Props good work; the sing sounds like the squirrel nut zipper orchestra but idk maybe.

  • cool man, good to see people still use hand tools, I know i love to!

  • Excellent video!! I love your commitment to hand tools. I will be the first to envy when the electricity grid goes down.

  • i have a question... how did you made the first piece... the one the you worked on?

  • now thats custom

  • i want to learn to build bikes... NOW!

  • @error204 look for the paterek manual.

  • @otacon451 THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I'll

  • LoL .. oh boy 2 Q to the originator of this vid

    1. What song / group is that ?

    2. Do you plan to do powered version ( im bit physically imparied when it comes to manaual )

    great vid / music

  • Gotta love the old school had drill. Very nice vid man.

  • may i ask why arn't u using a hack saw? does it really need to be that accurate?

  • Sure, some of that could be roughed in with a hacksaw. It's just a matter of whether you prefer chocolate or strawberry.

  • @TomOswald hahahaha.... good answer man! :)

  • @TomOswald please help i like chocolate and strawberrys so what should i use to comb my hair?

  • @TomOswald It seems like a lot of this work (which is exceptional, by the way) can be done a lot faster with a dremel tool. Is there a reason you use hand tools?

  • @BryceSommer I guess it's for the same reasons some of us ride bicycles and not motorcycles. And why I drink my beer from a pint glass rather than a funnel. Speed is not always the goal. Focusing more on the "going" and less on the "getting there" can bring you to some very interesting places.

  • Wonderful!! Come to Brazil!!!

  • y kno how many a doz fkn saws i broke as a kid in south america?

    tons

    -hero

  • i like power tools. they make me happy

  • sorry but i musst that say in my language!!!

Increible maestro!!!!!!!!!! un capo!!! gracias por la inspiracion!!

  • you sir, are a true artisan. I can't believe you're able to do that with such precision. very impressive.

  • very nice hopefully one day ill get to be an apprentice framebuilder

dying art are fine lugged frames

  • who is playing the music for this video? it rocks...

  • wow this takes handmade to a completely different level. Nice work Mr. Oswald. How many saw blades do you go through per lug?

  • It depends on how much coffee I've had. Actually, I've never bothered to count. Blades are pennies apiece. The time is takes to change them is more valuable.

  • Great work!

  • nice done grandpa!

  • This is just to cool I love lug built frames.

  • funny drill.. hehe

  • im actually in process of building my own frame for my dream fixie, quick question did you buy the lugs already welded in those angles? or did you make those yourself

  • Those particular lugs are investment cast. The angles can be changed by a degree or so if needed.

  • Wanna Say thanks for putting this up, its a great insight into the mysterious world f frame building.

I look foward to seeing how lugs are joined together.

  • Wow, lot's of work to make a lug. They are beautiful though.

  • amazing piece of art. This guy seems to know what he`s doing. I hope this art never desapear. I`d love to have a real hand made frame like this. It`s the first time I watch how they use to made this part of the frame.

  • Awesome work!

  • Tom is a true craftsman. I've been riding one of his bikes for a few years now and LOVE it. Nice to see how it was actually made.

See my bike frame on Tom's site. It's the last one on page 3 of the picture gallery.

    Thanks Tom.

  • I don't know exactly what to tell you. I'm a very practical guy. What looks good to me is what's built well and lasts long, but I still have a lot of respect for the art work you do considering it's done by hand. And I actually hope you have taught or are teaching other people your art. Craftsmen are a dying breed that I don't wish to see disappear.

  • YES! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! Damn saw blades. Good music, is it Bill Frisell and Vernon Reid?

  • Hey CJK,

No beer cans here - bottles only.

I Hope your green machine is working well for you.

  • inbetween cuts, I'd like to see the scattered beer cans and cheap mexican labor that really get you through your day!

in the meanwhile, I'm comin at ya with a new 29er thought before too long...get your jig ready...jk

  • Love the improvised lug vice!

  • Stay tuned - there's another one of these coming your way soon.

  • B E A utifuulll :]

nice work. People who don't know what "hand made" means won't understand the real Value of that kond of work.

    rezpect. ;]

  • give us more lug prOn

  • I have had the pleasure of owning two of Mr. Oz's fine bike's. This video make's Me even more proud!

  • It's all about the mojo, my minty fresh friend.

  • For the price of your video camera you could have bought an air compressor and some carbide bits for die grinding.

If you are old school...then were is the 8mm film eh!!!

    Nice lugs!
