what really happened to gunther lutjens before she sunk? people say he took his own life with his luger when the last shell was fired. others say he went down with her as he stood on the bridge.
Tovey was a typical two faced Englishman. Secretly he cheered while watching films of the enemy sailors burning in oil in the water. He ordered the ship not to rescue anyone. They stood there and cheered while each German sailor died in agony. Nearly every English sailor hated all Germans. They all fed of Churchill's pure hatred.
can you truly blame the english? Germany had taken much of their former Empire and wat they hadn't Britain was forced to give up to get soldiers to help defend their homeland.
No. Not lies. Based on plenty of evidence. Many men of Bismarck burned alive in oil. The English ships did not attempt to save many of them. They just sailed off on direct orders from Churchill. This is fact. You English people are disgusting and cruel. Others should see you for what you are.
If theres "plenty" of it please provide evidence or quote a source that Tovey cheered while watching films of German sailors burning that way you won't look like such a pathetic liar .

The English are also very brutal, amongst the most brutal in the world. They like to win, and then rub it in by mass slaughter. People should be made aware of this.
So you know every English person and their attitude's,and your going to make people aware of our deficiencies in character by telling lies.....physician heal thyself .
iroscoe. I can see you are quite a smart guy. Suffice to say that the English people have a vicious nature. There was widespread rejoicing in England at the time of the Bismarck's destruction, and joy at her seamen perishing. You have to understand the hatred of the English towards the Germans, which I am sure yoiu are well aware of. This is certainly well documented. As far as citing references, it is hardly worth it, as it is stating the obvious. :)
No im extremely stupid which is why i would appreciate you indulging me with a source for your bizarre sounding claims about Admiral Tovey . The most intresting thing about your posts is not the criticism's themselves but rather the staggering hypocriscy you display while making them .

according to wiki, your destroyer "fought" the bismarck for half an hour with other british destroyers, at night, after the Bismarck was already cripppled doing about 10knots and unmanauverable, neither side scored any hits.
Yeah, maybe in his dreams, but what the hell, if you're fighting someone you have hope to win don't you? With all these rounds fired from Rodney and King George V (and rest of group) they weren't able to sink Bismarck but only to cripple her, so it would be almost impossible for destroyer to sink Bismarck.
He was out of range and without possibility to close to Bismarck cause of heavy fire. Please if you want to reply do it on my account because we will trash whole comment site.
f16134 is right. For a destroyer to strap on a battleship is a damn brave thing to attempt. They were very lucky not to get hit. The HMS Glowworm was sunk by the DKS Gneisenau in a fight like this, and 4 US destroyers took on half the Japanese Navy at the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Each battle was a fine example of the courage (shit, balls of steel!) of the "tin can sailors" of the US and British Navies.
according to wiki, your destroyer "fought" the bismarck for half an hour with other british destroyers, at night, after the Bismarck was already cripppled doing about 10knots and unmanauverable, neither side scored any hits.
As to the allegedly impenetrable hull, the armor belt was quite penetrable- not to contradict such nautical geniuses as James Cameron, Blue Water Recovery launched a survey with actaul warship experts. While certainly the sloped deck preformed admirably, the belt was indeed holed and photographed as such. Wotan steel aside, a 12.6" vertical belt is simply not that hard to penetrate- especially not at such ranges. The conning tower- even beefier than the belt, was riddled with holes.
not to be overly argumentative, but the British documentary was proven to be flawed, a second team went and found that the armoured belt was only fully penetrated by 2 shells (by rodney, which has determenied by the side the hits occured). the belt had numerous dents, and patial penetrations. in regards to the Bridge it got the crap kicked out of it but i dont think they would have been able to determine whether the 14inch guns did the damage or whether it was mostly 16inch damage.
metube1120, by the time the royal navy had finished with the Bismarck it was destroyed beyond recognition. Who cares how it bloody sunk. Churchill wanted it sunk and it was. End of. Lots of lives were lost on hood and bismarck and more time and effort should be spent on reflecting on that rather than mr cameron and his bullshit documetaries. I would rather listen to sailors like brigs and other british or german sailors who were there when it happened.
The scholarly work of James Cameron aside; Bismarck was certainly gallant- and certainly flawed. As to sinking the Bismarck one on one; just because the German Battleships came out politely one by one for destruction doesn't mean the RN should have politely sent out one Battleship to intercept. Yes, Bismarck was mighty- yes her sloped main armor deck kept catastrophic hits away from the engines, sure she was resistant to sinking- but she was quickly mission killed, an unsinkable blazing reck.
I hope the facts compel you to clam the fuck up, TazzMania, you vinegar-sucking Kraut...Jesus wept, you'd think you people would have learned some humility after the shit-eating madness you put the world through *TWICE*. At least this confirms the mentality James Cameron hoped to appeal to. Anyway, I suppose all this typing will be keeping you from making lampshades from Jewish skin, eh?
PoW shipped exactly 400 short tons of water - almost unnoticable on a 42,000 ton full displacement. "Half full whit (sic) water" my arse. Prince of Wales actually shadowed Bismarck after disengaging and the two traded salvoes at ranges upward of 30,000 later in the day. Holland asked for a courts martial to dispel any talk of "running away".
What I am saying is POW was 2 weeks old and her crew not fully worked up.
7 hits, 4 15in + 3 8in. Rear Admiral Walker on Norfolk ordered POW to break off to protect the ship from any further damage. Had she or Hood scored a early damaging hit would Lutjens have used the superior speed of his ships to disapear into the Atlantic like in most other engagements with RN Heavy units present?
Post war tests on Tirpitz`s armor plates showd that British 14in and 16in shells would penatrate at the battle ranges without diffulculty. (reworded due to copyright)
Battleships, Antony Preston, page 150.
maybe they got the plates from a Scandanavian metal scrap metal dealer?
Prince of Wales was a match for Bismark, just her crew wernt fully trained like the Germans. Plus she still had workmen onboard. As soon as Bismarks fuel tanks were holed she had to go home anyway.
I wonder how many more times people will badger Ted Briggs for his story? I think I've heard the same thing ten different ways. The man has been through enough hell. He doesn't need to relive it. I hope he is doing tis because he wants to and not because he's asked to...
not funny that Hood sinks with out of her crew of 1418 were lost of her total crew of 1421 only 3 survive ted Briggs,1 commander, and a Gunner

The Royal Navy tested there 14/16in shells against Tirpitz armour after the war and they penetrated easy enough. Why would Bismarks be any different?

Prince of Wales was a match for Bismark, just her crew wernt fully trained like the Germans. Plus she still had workmen onboard. As soon as Bismarks fuel tanks were holed she had to go home anyway.

I wonder how many more times people will badger Ted Briggs for his story? I think I've heard the same thing ten different ways. The man has been through enough hell. He doesn't need to relive it. I hope he is doing tis because he wants to and not because he's asked to...
