It is NOT anti-gravity. There is lift and thrust being generated by interacting with electro-magnetic fields. Gravity is simply a bi-product of the geometry and mass of space, and in order for there to be any anti-gravity technology, the gravitational effect needs to be eliminated. Where as in the example of the B-B effect, gravity is very much in play with the physics of the ionocraft, the force is being counter-acted by lift and thrust, but the gravity is still very much present.
I built one of these and filmed it with my Schlieren setup. You can clearly see air moving downward towards the foil electrode. It's just air moving downward because of the electric field. If there is something else going on it's negligible. Just my two cents... check out my video and tell me what you think.

Its not anti gravity. The gravtional force is not affected nor manipulated. If the author of this video is sure it is anti gravity, feel free to demostrate it in a vacumn in your nearest university in front of the science professors.
If it is agreed to be anti gravity by a peer review (NOTE: Peer in this case are trained physcists, not your friends or average common man), you will win the next nobel prize.
@lorenzogemma "Anti-gravity is the idea of creating a place or object that is free from the force of gravity. It does not refer to balancing the force of gravity with some other force, such as electromagnetism or aerodynamic lift." Wikipedia. Before the graviton is discovered, don't fancy.
@lorenzogemma That's palpably untrue. The B.B. effect is electrohydrodynamics, not antigravity. It's been conclusively proven that ionocrafts are not antigravity. By your lack of a Nobel prize, I'm hoping you've realized this.
@lorenzogemma You bring up a NASA patent from 2002 to prove that it is antigravity and yet NASA put out a paper in 2004 in which they quite clearly state that they have concluded that it is nothing more than an Ionwind effect. Certainly you must have seen that paper so please tell me why did you ignore it? Is it because it did not tell you what you wanted to hear?
Hi lorenzogemma, Mythbusters tested the lifter in a vacuum, it didn't lift. They also tested the lifter over the gravity measuring device, the device didn't pick anything up.
TT Brown filed patent 2,949,550 on 8/16/1960, it is for the two "ufo" shaped disk suspended on opposite ends from a central pole. Brown (and others) claim the device works in a vacuum, however (as far as I know) no vacuum effect was demonstrated to independent parties.
Personally I feel because of the size of the device (you can see pictures of Brown standing next to it) there is a possibility the vacuum may not have been "of good quality" meaning we may be still observing electrohydrodynamics.
Basically until someone can validate the quality of the vacuum the effect will not be taken seriously as electrogravity.
Mythbusters are just good at blowing things up lol. The air gap seems to be a functioning part of the lifter circuit. Removing it is like removing wires between a battery and a light bulb. The lifter is a layered device. The wire, the air gap and the foil. Replacing the air gap with a vacuum will hinder its function how ever encasing all 3 layers within a vacuum suggests otherwise. TT Brown & others were conducting these tests using 50 to 250 thousand volts.
@ZincFold: The lifter is a very simple device operating on accelerated ions which have been stripped from the air around them to produce thrust.
If the lifter defies gravity, why does it need air to operate? Because it is some part of a greater system? It is a simple Ionocraft, everyone can find it on Wiki.
Of course you can believe whatever you like, however it doesn't make it an anti-gravity effect like the title claims.
I do agree the lifter is not anti-gravity and I didn't say it was. How ever it does defy gravity and I don't agree that it's just an ion wind powered craft though ion wind is also produced.
There is an observed attraction of the foil towards the wire (Aka Biefeld-Brown effect) and it also lifts regardless of electrical polarity which would reverse directional thrust if totally reliant on ion wind.
@ZincFold "it also lifts regardless of electrical polarity which would reverse directional thrust if totally reliant on ion wind."
I am sorry to tell you but you are quite mistaken. The surrounding air becomes ionized by the presence of the electric current reguardless of it's direction and thus is attracted to the foil. Expecting the direction to change on a lifter based on it's polarity would be like expecting a flashlight to make things darker if you put the batteries in backwards.
A positively charged particle within this e-field will always follow the e-field flux lines and move toward the negative plate. The direction of the ion wind (charged particles) is directly influenced by charge in this way. Your insinuation that an e-field has no relation to its charge is wrong. You may as well say current has no direction. These effects are easier seen with emitters or plates of the same size and dimension. I suggestion you try it before you buy it. ;-)
@MrAwsome514 Expecting a flashlight to make things darker by inserting the batteries backwards has no relation what so ever to my comment. The air ionization is due to the electric field not current. The lifter is basically a capacitor and an asymmetrical one at that. The flux lines are directed from the positive to the negative charges and at right angles to the plates in this case the wire and foil.
@ZincFold The electric field ionizes the surrounding gas giving it a charge. That charge causes it to be attracted to the foil. This process is the same reguardless of which direction the electric current is flowing. An incandescent lightbulb will still light up reguardless of which direction the current flows trhough it because it operates by heating the filament to the point in which it begins to glow brightly. The polarity has no relevance in either device.

@taybh1:
thanks for the Nobel, but it is not a my discover but Townsend Brown's one!
The NASA has patented "the asimmetrical capacitor" in vacuum:
NASA PATENT: US6411493 granted on June 25, 2002 .
Sorry but this is antygravity ! ;)

There is no such thing as antigravity. Gravity is a byproduct of mass... if an object has mass, then it has gravity. Physics 101, brah.
There is a thrust - the ions - providing lift. This is no more antigravity than any other lifting/flying technology.

There are a lot of patents of TTB, among them there is the "gravitator".
It runs without any contact whit the air !
