  • Best Slingin' vid on YouTube so far!! Excellent form!!

  • Great video! Check out CHOT at chotpro.com! It's a game of slinging for distance and accuracy!

  • hits and tips onhow to aim with figure 8, underhand or greek style???

  • You can make a sling with some Leather and Paracord. I've made mine from simple string and duct tape pouch, i've made some with grocery bags, made some out of leather and Paracord, they are just simple to make. all you need is a Cradle, retention cord, retention node, release cord, release node, and proper length(as long as ur arm or longer and Voila! oh yea, make sure you work on technique and release.

  • did you just bore a hole in that plastic? No wonder David was able to kill Goliath, slings really can be deadly!

  • what is the weight of the stone?

  • Very good! This Slingshot is very great. You can get it on jocatapult.de. Its the Model "CataSling".

  • This remains as my absolute favourite slinging video on Youtube!

  • K = 1/2*M*Vsquared

    K = 1/2*( .130 kg)*(38 m/s)squared = 93.86 Newton*m

    93.86 N*m = 69.23 ft*lb kinetic energy

How did this kill goliath : )

  • @ajohnson According to the story the way I read it, David stunned Goliath and then rushed up to chop his head off before he could regain his senses. Nonetheless, I hunted, as a teenager, with a sling and killed rabbits consistently. The biggest game I killed was a small wild pig with a head shot at 25 yds. I can tell you there is a lot of power in a sling and it will kill a man although it will not penetrate very far. I never used the formula to determine the kinetic energy, but it is big.

  • this is my favourite style, its called Byzantine

  • I made a sling today and i was suprised by it's power

  • In this video's form, you can throw stone in every angle - UNDER THROW, SIDE ARM, OVER THROW. For very high angle shooting, this form-over throw is better than UNDER THROW in SLINGING TRADITIONAL STYLE for me.

  • awesome, i wish i still had my sling, i can make the rock zoom through the air, but not snap like that when i let it go.

  • @Saulandbass When it zooms through the air it means the rock is not good shaped and than it can fly any direction, and if you want the snap you need some loos vibers on the release part of the sling

  • What is the sling made from? Did you make it?

  • @Lukos0036 I'm a South Korean slinger. My sling STRING is made of walker string, esp good military shoes. And sling POUCH is made of chamois leather. I could buy chamois in a leather wholesale market, about '3 feet x 3 feet' for 15000 won, about 15 US dollar .......... How-to-made is very very easy. Search HOW TO BUILD A SLING in YouTube... :-)

  • @WhiteCrowNest So far all I can use is an Atlatl. XD My neighbors give me strange looks. X3

  • blow guns , throwing knives, hawks , spears....i wanna learn how to do this !!!! that rock would drop anyone.

  • @ahrramin your a retard

  • @Jambot101 You're

  • I'm so glad I haven't pissed you off. You could kill me, and the only warning I would have is that terrifying crack and 3 seconds. I am officially scared. Did you make yours?

  • @ahrramin are you joking? or are you really trying to correct my good grammar and spelling with bad grammar and spelling? I can't tell. "their" is the correct for of that word there. it is possesive. "there" is referring to a noun. food for thought.

  • Its funny when people who don't know that they are talking about try to sound like they do. first off... if youve never fired a handgun, you have no clue. for those of us who own, and know how to fire them, we realize that it is more of a challenge than hollywood makes it out to be. its not like a rifle. I live in New York State (not city) and getting a gun here is rather difficult to begin with. especially a handgun.

  • Fucking Hard Core

  • gosh i love slinging. though ive only been doing it for 1 day, its so addicting...

  • how many Joule can you reach? about 50 up to 80?

  • it sounds like a whip that's so cool

  • u should try hunting with a sling.

  • you can always tell who the fools are, Their the fat monday morning quarterbacks who sit and talk, talk, talk, They were the dudes who would start crying before they even got hit , the dude who ran a 1/2 block away then said stuff to you. as long as they cant be gotten at by you they sing their crap.

all talk no action. Your cool man, keep up the good work.

they say all their school boy, teachers pet crap but sling a stone, oh no no no, i might hurt my arm, sling it right into their own nuts

  • I herd the roman soldiers during the time of JESUS carried slings and would cast rocks with just one revolution just like you do.

  • Yo dude dont matter what any fool say That dang thing is going fast enough to put a hole in their skull so they can do all the hot air blowin they want, thats all they got is blowin air not a slinger like you Son you have inspired me to get out there and get slingin like David did in the BIBLE

    GOD bless you son

  • I think your release string hit the sound barrier lol

  • This remains one of the best slinging videos yet posted on the internet. :-)

  • Wow, i was using a stop watch and it took 0.6 seconds at normal speed.

  • 45 or 38 m/s? :S

  • Comment removed

  • the speed of a projectile, fired from a sling, is directly proportional to the length of the sling....you might want to make that sling a little longer.

  • You have 1/4 of a seccond to see the rock coming towards you, react acordingly and get out of the way. If you don't see the guy spinning the sling, you will get hit.

  • I already know how satisfying that felt for you.

  • great 5 stars how did you make that

  • Gah! Being on the receiving end of that would suck! Just imagine:

    [Snap] "What was th- [Thud]"

    That person would be out!

  • COOOLLLOOOOLOLOLOL

  • Excellent stuff {:^)

  • hey great vid how do you make a sling that cracks like a whip when you use it?

  • @darthlarry

It is caused by the sonic boom and the speed of the sling...

Just like a whip causes a sonic boom.

So it must be going faster than sound to make that sound.

  • It essentially is a whip.

  • I did slinging as a boy in the 50's and became very accurate . . . used same style as the guy in this video . . . it has given me encouragement to make another one. . . we used the leather from daddy's discarded leather gloves and cut a small diamond in the pocket to hold a rock . . . I will use paracord 550 to make it and find some soft leather . . thx for video. . . he is great !

  • This dude has great form. Like a major league pitcher. He's the best I've seen so far.

  • AMAZING!

  • Thats a fine toss there, sir! Its been years since Ive done any slinging, but Ive been getting motivated recently. Thanks for a good video :)

  • dude i love how ur sling snaps after u let the string go

  • @dohboiii Yeah that is the sonic boom aparantly slings pass the speed of sound (if done very very well!) and that is the noise it makes. please correct me if i'm rong I have only just started slinging and its so much fun!!

  • I have to say that your technique is great and its phenomenal that you can hit that backstop from thirty meters. I am an armored car guard and some of the guys I work with could hit that with their handguns. awesome job!

  • *couldnt

  • Thanks :)

  • @christofvongunter

    What.

Are you serious? This isn't, "They-can't-hit-that-they're-so-bad-are-you-serious", this is "Who-won't-they-give-guns-to-are-you-serious".

And I used to support the right to bear arms.

  • Still 100 mph to sling a rock is not that deadly. My slinging speed is around 111 meters per second (360 feet per second). (Taking it by the fact that my sling is 13 feet long). And 1000 feet is my usual distance with that my long sling and a spherical 5 oz rock.

  • Dude, apparently you missed some of the math classes...

"The most widely quoted response is Nolan Ryan, whose fastball was "officially" clocked by the Guinness Book of World Records at 100.9 miles per hour." Yes that's 45 m/s.

And you are telling me that your throw is 111.76 m/s.

Average stone hanging time in the air - throwing for long distance is 3-5 seconds. You want to tell me you are able to throw 150g STONE 300-400 meters ? Why don't you apply for a World Guinness Records :D

  • Ummm, hell yes. Many slingers today can sling that far regularly. Why cant you? you seem like you are talented enough to do the same.

  • We're talking speed here, not distance. If you could offer more than rude rebuttals and wisecracks, maybe people might take you seriously. You can't even tell, when asked, how you arrived at your numbers. Prove your case by posting a video! Show us your 250 m.p.h. cast! Show how you measure speed. Otherwise, most here will continue to believe that you are, indeed, talking out of your ass.

  • ill do it once i find a camera

  • Make sure that you call Guiness first! LOL

  • @asgesa2 Hmm, some 18 years ago i was into it... i has sling that was some five feet long when folded, and rocks size of an half fist just dissapeared when i shot them. Required few obligue spins above head...

  • @asgesa2 Easily 300 yards but in order to do 500 yards I have to go to a place where the air resistance is low. I'm going to apply for Guinness once I have the money to fly to a place where its over 6500 feet above sea level. Where I live its only 600 feet above sea level which explains why I cant sling more than 1000 feet.

  • @asgesa2 the current Guinness World Record distance of an object thrown with a sling stands at 477.0 m, set by David Engvall in 1992 using a metal dart :)

  • @TRDanaa Greek slingers on average were accurate to a 1/4 of a mile, but we they did boast 1/3-1/2 of a mile ranges. Were they right? Who knows, I can only do 150m.

  • @asgesa2

You are attempting to correct his math using an assumption of hang time being 3-5 seconds? Maybe you are the one who missed the mass classes and obviously the logical part of your brain has suffered injury.

  • Comment removed

  • Say why don't you make a video and post it on youtube of you slinging a 5 oz rock at 250 mph. Otherwise it sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. By the way a 2 oz projectile thrown at 101mph (45 meters per second) would be lethal if it struck a person in the head. It could easily crack a human skull.

  • Bullshit?? Why do you say that? People can sling that fast dumbass!! (Using different tecniques). The reason I own a sling is because I know for a fact that slings can put a hole through someone, and not just crack a skull. You obviously dont know much about slings do you dumb fuck???

  • Hey ShawnSamLeahusername! First of all, your lack of decorum is pretty sad. A real people person, huh? Second of all, how do you measure your superhuman speed?

  • People person? Thats random! Getting back on subject, distance divided by time v=d/t.

  • So, how do you time your stone? This formula only works if your stone doesn't lose speed. So, again, how do you know measure the speed and or velocity of your projectile? And, my comment wasn't random. I was refering to your childish name calling in the previous post. See , the way you talk to people, even here, speaks volumes about your character, or lack there of.

  • In order to acually use the formula correctly, I stand relatively close to a wall, probably 50-70 meters away.Because the projectile wont lose speed at a wall that close.

  • And you time your projectile how? Stopwatch, guessing, voodoo math? You're talking about a duration of less than 1 second.

  • I am sorry but I just do not believe you when you claim you can sling at speeds up to 250 mph. So again I challenge you to MAKE A VIDEO TO PROVE IT NUMNUTS! Because to be honest I think you are full of shit!

  • We all know that ShawnSamLeahUsername did not sling anything but B.S. at 250 m.p.h. Maybe next time he decides to share his rich fantasy life, he'll scale back his outrageous figures. Or maybe the poor lad is just really bad at math.

  • To be honest, Don't really care how far or fast the boy can sling. I think he needs to learn some manners. He sounds like a petulant child who probably shouldn't be allowed access to things like slings.

  • Lmao! Probably true!

  • How about, making a video of it, measuring the distance, then see how much time it takes the projectile to reach the target after you release it.

  • @ShawnSamLeahUsername 250 mph? 5 ounce stone out of a sling? You must be superman. :)

You should post a video of that, I think it would be a record.

  • @Ratd0g28 I take that back, I used 4 oz rocks with a long sling at 9000 feet above sea level.

  • God it sounds like a whip crack... is it breaking the sound barrier? I'm still pretty new in slinging, but have used bullwhips, and homemade ones have a sound like that.

  • Thank you. This little vid. has done me more good than ten pages of text could have. Your technique is one worth copying.

  • Glad to be helpful :)

This technique is not the most accurate, but it is possible to throw projectile with huge amount of energy for short distances.

    Keep on slinging !

  • @asgesa2 What is the most accurate technique in your opinion? I have stumbled across this style (Byzantine), and I find I'm having a hard time with a 3-4 foot sling. Any tips, or should I shorten my sling by a foot?

  • @killu19 With shorter sling you have a better control while releasing. With longer one there is a 'lag' that you can feel. But then again no matter the length no matter the technique if you practice a lot you will be accurate, but for beginning I prefer greek style for accuracy.

  • @asgesa2 Indeed there is. I miscalculated my sling length. When unraveled, it was 8ft. long. I have now shortened it to 4ft., and instantly can tell the difference. I might want to make something in the middle, creating a sling at 6ft. long.

  • no wonder goliath went down!

  • My cousin stronger than me but not smarter. I said "I can make a rock go farther than u!" He threw a rock I pulled out my sling WHIIIIIIIPPPP cousin: :o

  • and I bet you from kentucky

  • actually Newfoundland

  • that sling is way too short!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Actually for me its the perfect length. For short distances its better to have shorter sling (easier to handle). But still with this sling I can throw 160+ meters distance. But if I would want to throw further, I would make a longer sling :)

  • Imagine having one of these in a snowball fight...

  • I tried the snowball thing it don't work the centripital force breaks the snow ball unless it's really hard packed and you want to cause pain :P

  • Those things killed a lot of Spanish conquistadors in the 57 yr guerilla war with the Incas. Helmets were no protection.

  • cool

  • Rome: Total War

  • That's my style but I have problems with consistancy

  • ive found out 4 myself that slings can do an incredible amount of damage!!!!

  • huh finally hhah mess

  • very nice. I recently started slinging. This gives me a good idea of what to work towards.

  • i no it took me a while to get used to it and kept running away cuz i didnt see the stone

  • Great form, I want to try that style!

  • did it break the sound barrier? O.o lol

  • when he released one of the strings, the end of the string acted like a whip,so it broke the sound barrier.killa

  • very nice work!

  • Sorry a miscalculation !!! It is 44 m/s not a 38 m/s.

No more late night video editing :) Thanks for comments and interests ! Keep on slingers :)

  • What style is what you used here cuz i use this style and learned myself .I've seen only you slinging this way.

  • that is freakin large amount of force!

  • nice shot ,

  • Awesome slinging!
