  • i like how the top comments are the same comment by the same guy, with the same guys

  • the laser diode is friction press fitted. how did you take it out easily. please explain

  • 23 people dont know how to do this xD

  • Fuck you

  • Thx man

  • Thx man

  • can it be a cd player one of those walkmans??

  • @ak74u2 no, that laser diode is in the infrared spectrum. The only reason its called a cd burner is because the powerful laser actually burns the plastic on the cd.

  • can it be a cd burner

  • Comment removed

  • thats not how you remove the guts out of the dvd case O.O

  • Now i'm confused about which pins to connect up to the battery. In a different video it says that the top pin is positive, middle pin is not used and the bottom pin is negative. How come the pin polarities are different on this video

  • @DJPaulgee1 because there are many differents types of laser diodes search it on google for a good answer

  • ΣΑΣ ΓΑΜΑΩ ΤΙΝ ΠΑΝΑΓΙΑ

  • what the fuck is he doing? theres an easier way lol

  • i´m so lucky about i bougt a 16x dvd brune für 3 euro € and it works at leas at my pc

the burner is really fast but i hve to say by by to the burner, whenjou take just the red lens you can read cds an burn cds, thas good

  • hi i took the laser out and it has 4 connecors i dont know which is negative or positive

  • @MrAlb4life the black pins are the ir laser and white is the negative

  • @MrAlb4life try it with putting + to black pins and - in the normal(white) pin but dont look with your eyes because it will burn your eyes if it is infrared. look with your mobile phone camera. mine is infrared

  • can you tell me is that burning laser over 200mw or not

  • What else can u use instead of a soldier

  • Can you use bill lazor to solder and how long would it take if I could

  • Doesn't the laser diode get ruined when you touch it like that? I heard they are sensetive to electrostatic discharge (ESD).

  • What was the point of that whole shaking thing at 6:56?

  • can you take out the diode without removing the solder?

  • take it from ps3 is better :)))

  • i need to use 9volt battery RIGHT ????????

  • Yeah you could do that.....OR you could just buy a laser pointer!!

  • 3:57 he says bitches

  • is he australian?

  • @deeshawn890 No hes british. Im Australian and i sound nothing like that

  • my hand is bleeding while open that hard casing :(

  • in russia,cd burns you

  • does the CD led burns too??

  • award winning ending to your video, but your subscribe arrow is in the wrong place :/

  • Comment removed

  • whatt????

  • i have four those(pozitiv negativ)...what can i do...please answer

  • what the fuck? O_o

  • And u recycled and make a random instrument lol

  • 7:00 LOL!

  • can i use ps2 diode??

  • THANK GOD ^_^

  • my dvd drive won't open like that

  • ns work

  • i cant find the diode in the DVD burner D:

  • Which voltage u use for this diode?

  • what is the voltage to let those lasers work? how many watss are they?

  • Someone please reply Does this permit radiation cause on the side is says 'laser radiation'

  • @KyleDiddys Radiation simply implies that it has an emission within the electromagnetic spectrum. Light bulbs, electric fires, ovens broadcast tranmitters all produce radiation. Laser light is coherent which means that the waves produced are all in phase with each other. Long term exposer to the skin will break down cells and cause damage. Lasers of this power class 3B are safe provided you do not fool around and use them sensibly. You must use eye protection. NEVER look a laser in the eye.

  • can i use a reader and burner of a acer pc?

  • @reppiehosselaar hey yes man you can

  • do i need transistors ??

  • The preferred method for unsoldering on those places is solder wick.

  • why the fuck cant you use a cd,dvd diode

  • why didnt you shoe how to yous it

  • what u mean by top and side while connecting wires to them???

  • can i use the lens from a cheap laser ? i just put it in front of the laser diode after removing ? do you know what is the power pf the laser iode frum a dvd burner in mW ?

  • can i use the lens from a cheap laser ? i just put it in front of the laser diode after removing ?

  • cool

  • what a fiddly wee thing, couldn't even see the screws, never mind get them out, pliers worked tho, but couldn't locate any thing that looked like the two you got, even hit with a hammer couldn't find anything in the reminents resembling those you got out, ...

Thom, .54... &. now wearing glasses, & on the search for a another DVD burner.

  • haha you spelled yay wrong when u were unsoldering

  • can i make a burning laser pointer with a laser diode from a dvd player?

  • @theglitchen no, it has to be aa high power, or a dvd burner diode for it to burn things...

  • @theglitchen no

  • @theglitchen yes you can

    watch kipkay videos

  • @theglitchen no

  • @theglitchen

no you can not because the diode in your dvd-player cant burn a cd or dvd!

  • @theglitchen no

  • @theglitchen not a burning one

  • @theglitchen No, the diode is too weak. The strongest cheapest diode can be found at dollarstoresin thrie laser-poiners (: Hope this helped

  • @EDsIXXI

The diode from my DVD writer/player, did burn pretty well ;)

  • @theglitchen yes

  • @theglitchen yes

  • @theglitchen no.

  • @theglitchen im pretty sure you can

  • @theglitchen actually. yes you can. but i do not recomend it. due to the fact that it being infrared(ir) you cant see the beam. also the human eye doesnt respond to ir rays and doesnt blink so you can very easily blind yourself.

  • @theglitchen No you cannot you would just waste your time and your dvd player. the laser in that is a Class 1 laser

  • @theglitchen

    no

  • @theglitchen no

    its has to low power.

  • @theglitchen Yes

  • @theglitchen player no. it must be DVD burner.

  • good luck brnin your dvds now

  • @PureAwesome73 He can do it. He just cant write them.

  • can you use an old xbox disk tray lazer?

  • @michip1234 now you can't sow give it to me

  • thx for the help +1

  • on the ribbon cable right ontop of the diodes there will be writing that says "cd" for the cd one.....also my dvd diode is in a small metal thing and i have no clue how to take it out....help?

  • are you the guy who plays harry potter

  • on how many VOLTS is that small shit diode running? thy

  • that stuff that was holding the laser to the case is the cord that sends the signal from the laser to the circuit board, dont cut it, pull it out

  • Why does this only work with a DVD Burner? I thought anything CD related used lasers.

  • @iSchmal it could use an infrared laser

  • u should do it on your psp!

  • how much does 1 cost

  • @freviews dont buy a burner for that get a laser its like 20-30 bucks the 250-300 mW from a walmart

  • 6:25 lol ilyen pspm van:)

  • Will these work WITHOUT a driver?

  • Hi, I have a Laser Diode from my dead X-Box (Drive-Model Nr. VAD6038)

Can somebody tell me with which an how many Batteries (AA if Possible) and what resistors I can make it work as a (burning) Pointer.

Hoping for some good answers. Thx

  • u can use 4 aa batteries and to make it more powerful u can use a 9 or 12

    volt battery

  • @MrHassanali0016 I guess 9V and 12V with out any resistors would probably kill the diode just the moment i connected it. Thats the least I know. I already burned some other diodes with experiments like this.

  • @MrHassanali0016 wouldnt it kill the diode ?

  • By the way can it burn matches?

  • yup

  • The DVD=RED i have to use? I have to connect the two wires to it and connect them to batteries? that's all?

  • do cd burners work?

  • @Natiusdrock He said that in description AND in the video, that NO

  • yus i dun it with my old ps3 blu ray player and its blu

  • What is the MCD and Volt drop rating on a DVD burner diode?

  • My laser has 4 connections what do I do

  • so slow why dont use a hamer ! tsk nerd

  • am having trouble opening the case, how do you open it ??

  • am having trouble opening the case, how do you open it ??

  • is there a way you can do this with out any sodering?

  • @xXDavidMarslandXx aligator clips

  • thanks for this video..

just wanna ask, how many Volts should be applied to lighten the laser diode taken from dvd burner?! thanks again

  • @mukhoshhachi 2 AA batterys, or 3v

  • @Durkadurka1995

    thanks

    3V only?!

    i'v 2 more Q plz:

    1. how if we apply more!

    2. why some people use resistors and stuff like that?!

    thaaaanks lot

  • @mukhoshhachi 1. if you apply more than 3v you will blow the diode, and it wont work again.

    2. some people use resistors so they can use say a 9v battery, but lower the voltage to 3v so the battery lasts longer. If you were to connect a 9v you would need a 33ohm resistor, at at least 2 watts. Hope it helps.

  • @Durkadurka1995

    thanks again bro..

i have got to diodes from dvd burner, one is opened-face! and the other one is closed one,i mean normal! now,how to tell which is red, which is IR?and i dont hv laser casing, can i use any focusing lens?!

    thanks dear..

  • @mukhoshhachi Well, I don't know why it's open, I haven't got a diode out before, because I don't have a spare DVD burner, but connect + 3v to the top pin, - 3v to the right pin, and noting on the bottom pin, having the missing pin on the left, and test both of them out to find out which one is red, and which isn't.

  • @Durkadurka1995

    thanks a lot bro

  • thanks for this video..

just wanna ask, how many Volts should be applied to lighten the laser diode taken from dvd burner?! thanks again

  • thats sweet well done on showing it all

  • qual é a voltagem de funcionamento do laser?

    Cumprimentos

  • hey tingawinga5, just wondering what size laser module u used to put the diod in? thanks in advance!

  • and this happens when you don't read the "hand with care" label

  • Nice psp lol

  • errm should i buy a cheap or expensive dvd burner cos i dont want to waste unnessesary money.....is there a difference in the diode if the burner is cheaper?

  • thats fucking waste of my timde dumb ass

  • good video

  • well, since it has 2 diodes (red and IR) the red is visible and can burn stuff. But the IR diode is invisible besides a dim red dot (maybe) the IR diode can still burn stuff. Once I take apart my old CD burner I will have a burning IR laser. I like IR because it can burn stuff without seeing the dot. Its cool, you aim at tape and it just starts burning. But I also like the red because it has eyecandy. Just matters on the point of view.

  • tell me pls what i did wrong.. i connected the wires at the diode and when i connect the wires at two 1.5 volts batteryes it burns and comes out smoke form teh connection ebetween the batteries and the wire..xD so the question is why? xD

  • how do i tell which ones red and which ones infrared?

  • @tofu4tortoise testing. Power them up. The one that is red is the burning red laser diode. The IR is invisible but can still burn stuff. More of a silent burner xD. I can burn stuff without my parents knowing. But the red one has eyecandy so it matters on the point of view.

  • wow that is one low frames for second tare i think about 10-15 FPS (Frames Per Second)

  • @alyl603 yes, at first I thought it was my computer lag from too much ram usage due to so many taps open with multiple. Internet uses a lot of ram when you have a lot of tabs open to the explored. But I soon figured out it was the video lagging and not my computer :)

  • mine are held into a huge bit of metal that will take a lot of work to get out

  • at minute 6;22 there are three little things.....i have four....plz help me...

  • i didnt find anything but a lens,a very little peice with verry small terminals on a board and a white thing with 4 terminals in that and it was from my dvd Rom

  • @hellspawn0391 did you not read the note in it!? YOU HAVE TO USE A DVD BURNER NOT DVD ROM!

  • i hate british english ;)

  • @ibananei we made the language xD live with it hehe

  • Do you connect the laser diode to what?

    To 2 AA battery?

  • Comment removed

  • niezłe tylko szkoda że nie da sie dvd szybciej i bez mniejszych uszkodzen wyciagnac ta diode

  • dose it have to be a DVD Burner ?

CAN IT BE THE DVD PLAYER OFF A COMPUTER OR A CAR

  • No. The laser diode that comes with a dvd player doesn't burn the dvd surface

  • i saw vid and bought exact same dvd burner

  • thanks bro

  • i have a question :)

i've done everything and now i have 2 diods...what is the Burner one?

And i dont know of to make it work..., can we solve the problem by webcam?

if you want i send you my msn contact

  • can i use a laptops dvd writter drive?

  • How can you determine the IR from the Red Laser diode since they look the same? O.O

  • cool

  • mate you forgot the link to the other vid....

  • @Elenkhos linked now!

  • excuse me Tingawinga5

but when you got the the stage of getting the diode

how did you get it out of that small metal casing that it's in?

    Thanks in advance! willienesses

  • I used a pair of wire cutters to cut thae aluminium depending on the DVD burner u may need to use a hack saw

  • @Tingawinga5

    thanks very much!

  • @Tingawinga5 I dont know why you said we couldnt use a cd, dvd or w/e to make that, you can... all cd/dvd have a diode... to read disk... no?

  • i subbed, but just because its free!

  • @alyl603 I like free shit, theres not a lot of that nowadays

  • @juniortore1 than sub to Tingawinga5 !!!!!! (just because its free SHIT )
