I honestly didn't get that upset over this. I got upset that we were losing Ianto as a character, but not Jack and Ianto as a couple, becausse I was never really emotionally invested. No fault of John or Gareth, but I never thought they had much plausible chemistry, and I still never got the feeling that Jack really loved Ianto any more than he did his other team members.

@ladycplum I can see your point. It was a relationship that happened mostly behind the scenes. But the books of the serie are far more descriptive. Try "In The Shadows", it's an audiobook read by Eve Myles or "Pack Animals"; it will give you more info about the way Jack feels ;-)

The Queen, at the end of the episode, banished the Doctor and created Torchwood 1, I think it was, to ensure that he never came back to England. I'm pretty sure that's right, but I'm not entirely certain.
