  • Wow, a D51 2-8-0 steam locomotive. That's one of my favorite engines!

  • as far as I've heard Baldwin sent Micados to japan pre wwII. and american engineers during the war called their Micados Macarthurs to be patriotic. i dont think its European the whistle sounds more like an american steamer

(and on a side note, its Hero!)

  • OKAY!

  • thats a nice loco...wish the headlight was center mounted though...nice video!

  • it is a nice loco, but there headlights are always mounted that way, the headlight way your talking about is with AMERICAN locomotives

  • well actually there are a lot of American steamers with high headlights. I probably should've said "mounted so high". It just looks sorta weird perched up on the feedwater heater. If it was dropped down to just above the number board it would look good as well. Either way she's beautiful :D

  • can't ague with that, she's goorgus, though the mikado in america, was ment for frieght, maybe they copied us, or we copied them

  • IIRC, the first Mikado Japan received was American-made. We began to use the style...I guess you could say they changed the use of our engine type to suit their needs

  • ah, yes, but is there type a freight puller, passenger puller, or mix?

  • I believe we sent it to them as a freight engine...what they did with it, IDK

  • D51 mikado was designed as freight puller, but offten used for passenger.

  • wait, are you saying japan sent us the mike (mikado) or we sent the mikado?

  • we sent it to them

  • i have no idea, all of the mikados i know where built by BALDWIN, and ALCO, and USRA, i heard nothing about a japanese mike comeing hear tough

  • nope, never has happened.

  • so, you never sent us the mike?

  • America sent Japan the mike

  • *points at screen* FOUND IT!

  • lol, I don't think it was this one...it looks British in the boiler and on the smokebox door

  • ask around the train yard, they might know where it is

  • in Japanese, mouting headlight on the top of boiler is standard style.

I like both of them, center or top.

  • i like that style

  • Sounds like the children enjoyed it! 5*
