Your mom reminds me of my grandmother. I remember the home next door caught on fire and almost burned down our house as well and my grandmother refused to leave home, but by the grace of God, everything was alright. Just as I'm sure everything is alright for Mama Jones. I live in Houston and have all my life. About a million ppl including myself are without power but luckily we have a backup generator. It may be days b4 power is restored, but we're in good spirits and I hope your mother is too.

Steph, I know what you're going through. My Granny is in Houston too and she refused to come to Chicago earlier this week when we offered to fly her up here. We warned her about Ike, my Granny told us it was just gonna be a little rain storm and she would be fine. All we can do is pray. I'm including Mama Ordinary in my prayers with my Granny. I pray the Lord blesses you and I with peace as we wait it out and protection for our loved ones in the storm. Stay up Steph, this too shall pass.

I really dont know what else to tell you. There really is nothing you can do. When mom says no, im sure she means no. All you can do is what you said, pray. Im not too much of a religious person, but im sure your mom will make it through this situation. Obviously she is a fighter, so Im sure she will combat this as well.
