This is clogging. I am a dancer at the Ozark Folk Center. I jig dance (a form of flatfooting) in the programs. We also have cloggers. The basic step shown in this video is the 'double toe' used in clogging. Flat footing is low to the ground and is more of a slide step. You do not use the double toe in flatfoot dancing.
Sorry to bum you out but this isn't true Flatfooting..It's nice dancing and looks like older style clogging with a double toe basic..True flatfooting is a walking step, very low to the ground, with no double toes..it was very rhythmic, lots of heels move, and had a 2, 3, or 4 count walking step..Look at something that Ira Bernstein does..he's a great flatfooter..Again, the dancing is nice, just not flatfooting the way I learned it.
I wasn't sure if it was true flat-foot or not. I've seen Ira dance (on youtube) He is good. Can't say this is quite buck-dancing either. It does look like some good dancin though.
Cadillac, this looks like older style precision clogging that was started back around the late 60s and 70s, when I started doing this stuff. Thats' the style where everyone does the same step at the same time..These are steps that were done, then..Even precision has changed..But this is not flatfoot dancing..Again,not bad and the dancer is keeping good time, but not flatfoot style.Or Buck for that matter, at least the way I learned it, but we could go on and on..
I was born in '71 & have been a fan of the old-time style the modern/precision styles to me just aren't as fun. I'm disabled, so I can't dance but, LOVE watching. :)
Where's the Cloggs? int this just tap dancing?

This is clogging. The sound is very good but flatfooting has more of a dragslide.

Thanks for posting the basics. Here in Australia we don't have this type of dance, it's a pity cos I love it.
