  • I was a big fan of Liz McColgan especially when she won the NY marathon. I haven't followed running for a long time, but all I know is that to run as fast as Paula takes unbelievable committment. Hopes she makes a comeback.

  • Paula you Rock!!!!!!!! Good luck in 2012

  • Paula didn not run 2:15:25. She ran 2:23:46. Many women run faster than her.

  • @meghanallen She ran 2:15:25 on April 13, 2003 at London and 2:17:18 on October 13, 2002 in Chicago. No women are faster than her because she is the best in the world.

  • She just ran a qualifying time for London 2012!!!! Inside by 7 mins!

  • This Sunday Paula Radcliffe will start at the Berlin Marathon after two years without an race. I will be on the track and hope she will make a good race.

Best wishes to her from her fans in Germany

  • She is the one and only.My favorite runners are Paula Radcliffe and Juma Ikagaa on the mens side. I also admire Bill Rodgers pretty much.

  • how many olympic medals did she win in her career??????????? me thinks she likes her money.

  • To be honest, it shows how good she is if she can still manage to run over 20 miles despite having had a sickness bug for the past week.

Astonishing, best of luck to her :)

  • Poor Paula. I think she shat herself during this race.

  • Bad music choice. I thumb this video down. Proper music taste is something I take very seriously.

  • chocolate rain

  • I love her I wish she finish but she is still a champion and she is my favorite runner!!!!! I LOVE HER DEEPLY!!!!

  • 5 stars, even thought the video was blurrish...very well put together!

  • omg at 0:46 she looks like a young gillian mckeith!!!

  • " when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. without the rain. there would be no rainbow."

    well said!!

    who said that???

  • @smkb6233 me

  • She is the first non-Kenya or American runner I respect! Go Paula!

  • I would love Paula to win Olympic Gold, and it won't come any better than doing it in London, but this will be her last chance i would say, but she's capable of cracking it.

  • she good but she cant stop shiting/pissing her pants during her races.

  • she looks like vericosa

  • It's just too bad she hasn't done well in an Olympic Marathon. Hopefully in 2012 she is healthy and motivated!!

  • I went here hoping to see a video of her taking a dump during a race. Looks like I'm at the wrong place. :-(

  • what really happened during that race? did she just cramp up or what? I know people have bad days but just curious b/c I rarely see it from elite top notch athletes

  • I love you Paula, beautiful

  • is she the one that shat on the track?

  • I guess it's not just Kenyans and Ethiopians with amazing training and genetics.

  • Man, This is FIRST CLASS . Thank you!!!!!!!

  • She's not very hot... =\

  • @Aklidien uhm? your point?

doesn't matter what she looks like

  • @Aklidien and like you to run that distance and still look...hot

  • No matter what you go through, you need to put on smile and push on. paula is a great example of that. she is cute and smiling, with many unfourtunate events around her. She is not only a runner, but an inspirational hero. she may have not won a medal at the olympics, but she had set a world record. her legendary performances and mistakes remind us that we are not perfect, but we need to push through and learn from the past to have a successful future. Give her chance and she will shine. Thanks!

  • Gracias Paula !!!

  • Shes an outstanding runner and i don't think her career is over just yet lets see what happens in London ill be there supporting her!

  • Between her and Pre, I find my inspiration.

  • she looks a little like Nastia Liukin

  • paula is very cute

  • Shes Great ;-)

  • So what she has won many top marathons but she simply cannot perform when it really matters.

Her bid for Olympic Gold was pathetic, leading from the front in such hard conditions.

With her ability she should have allowed somebody else to set the pace.

Apart from her nobody in the race had approached 2-15 in a 44K race.

  • What an asshole. Teaching people to quit at everything they try because they fail one or two times.

  • Prove to people you run 2:15:25 again She'd never come close to that.

  • @meghanallen only if you can give her a chance and time. So what she might not run 2:15 again or close to it, she can still try.

  • She doesn't even run anymore.

  • @meghanallen no she does. she is seven months pregnant, but she is running a 10k soon with her baby.

  • Nice.... All of these insulting comments. If it wasn't for Paula, GB would not have the women's marathon WR, 3 time London champ, 3 time NYC champ, Chicago champ, World record 10k.... Something like 10 wins out of 12 marathon starts...(quitter???) If u wanna ciriticize,WRITE YOUR WILL before, try running just a mile at her marathon pace, do it 26 times, then u earned the right to be a critic. If u think she is a quitter, I wonder how long u would last at her pace before quitting, or dying.

  • Really, training at that level, taking the WR into the statosphere of 2:15... she HAS WON nearly every race she has entered. MOST MEN dont even come close. BUT U FIND THE NEED TO TRASH HER! lol

Probably most of u trashers havent run a mile in your life, are overweight, or outta shape, live in you mom and dads basement, play video games all day, and are so dissatisfied with your own piss poor life that u need to tear down people who truley shine. I bet I nailed it for a lot of u jerks.

  • lol no it was a wee

  • Didn't she have a shit while running? LOL

  • es lo maximo, es una gran atlete y de ese fracaso se levanto como las grandes!!

  • I was in England when this happened. I mean quit, yes, a marathon in those conditions are rough, but do so with some dignity, dont sit on the road crying your eyes out all because you missed a medal. When I think of Radcliffe, "gutless failure" is what words come to mind.

  • When I think Paula, I think 6 time medallist at world cross country, 2 time world half marathon champ, current WR holder in the marathon, holds the fastest 20km 30km and half marathon times ever run, two time medalist at IAAF world championships, a commonwealth and european track champion, a two time individual eurpean cross country chanpion, only once ever defeated in major city marathons and one of the greatest female distance runners of all time.

  • ..........and when the going got a little tough she sat down in the middle of the road and cried, twice!! Whether you like it or not, outside of England, Paula Radcliffe is regarded as a joke.

  • @rodders29a

It will be her emotional meltdowns that she will forever be remembered for.

You can fail a million times and still be seen as a winner, but if you quit once, you are seen as a loser.

  • I remember 8 time Hawaiian Ironman champion Paula Newby Fraser "quit" the race a couple of times in the 80's. She didn't cry, she just shrugged her shoulders, smiled, as if to say "Beaten by the better athlete, not my day today" and continued onto the finish with the dignity of a champion. Even in 1995 when she pushed herself beyond delusion and to near death, she still had it in her to recover, stand up, and walk across the line. Cant say the same about Radcliffe.

  • if i understand you correctly the first time you are refering to is athens in 04. I this case she wasn't in the middle of the road she almost collapsed by the side of it due to the mediaction she was on that had affected her ability to absorb nutrients/carbs before the race (read her book before posting any further ignorant comments on that regard). pls enlighten me as regards the 'twice!!'...

  • @mc1703

When I think of Paula Radcliffe, I think of QUITTER.

    Brutal truth.

  • "pls enlighten me as regards the 'twice!!'... "

She pulled the same stunt in the 10,000 metres, just as the medals were out of her reach, she dropped out, and in the marathon she went and had a cry on the median strip (Middle of the road). I should thank Radcliffe, whenever I'm hurting during a marathon and think of dropping out I just say to myself "You're not pulling a Radcliffe, you're not pulling a Radcliffe". Drop out, fine, but at least have a some dignity.

  • @rodders29a

There's a saying in Hollywood: "Never let em see you sweat."

    Pull out of the race...fine.

But keep a stiff upper lip and keep your dignity.

  • so the 'twice!!' wasn't in the middle of the road!!! lol

  • The rest of us think of SHITTER

  • World record holder

    Full stop

  • could anyone please tell me who is the singer and theme? thanks

  • Very Inspirational!

  • I remember seeing this on NBC. I was so confused, and I kind of still don't get it. She was an Olympian and trained for this for years. How could she just give up?

  • read her book

  • As a humble 2-59 marathon runner I ran seriously for 17 years and had a lot of bad days. That's why Paula is an runner's runner like Steve Ovett.. She had a bad day today at New York but she will be back. The best always come back.

  • this is why paula is a winner cause you cant be a winner if your afraid that you might lose, paula's amazing=)

  • damn she is good.

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry guys I did't see the negative post I am deleting them now

  • I dont get how anyone who has held the record for 6.5 years, by 3 and a half minutes, with a mans time, can be shit.

  • She lives abroad because there isnt enough altitude in Britain to benefit from.

  • You can hardly say she's "shit" She still holds the world record for the marathon running 2.15, which is frankly amazing. Barely any men can run as fast as that.

  • didn't feel ready for the marathon halfway is a good test of recovery levels. She has always represented GB when fit and able!

  • I just hate seeing her so sad... :(

but she will continue to do great things!

    I'm thinking a new WR of 2:14:56.93

    yea. that sounds right.

  • I hope Paula wins in 2012, and if that's just not meant to be I hope she gets to run another FAST marathon. Time is short--World Championships this year, Olympics in 2012. That means her chances for a new WR are pretty much limited to a fall or spring marathon in 2010 or 2011 (since she'd be unlikely to run a spring marathon in 2012.) Figure one of those four races will be hot, and she'll be likely injured for one of them. That leaves maybe two more opportunities for her to go sub-2:15:25.

  • I also think Paula is truly an amzing athlete, all her amazing acheivments and WR's say it all really! But I think she's peaked...Running at the distance and intencity that she has done over the years doesn't do anyone that good. Even for Paula. I reckon she'll run 2012, but not win. It would be so good if she did though!!!

  • yes she won

  • fuck man... you clearly have no idea.. fucking sedentary pussy... i challenge you to run one half of what she runs in one week, in a whole month... you surely cant cuz youre a fat chip eater cupchicks wanker

  • Last chance to win gold at the London Olympics, 2012 at 38. Wow.

Please be there, and win Paula.

  • She is a legend. First class.

  • @GTAP2K9 - True, she is a legend, but she'll be an even bigger legend if she wins in London in 2 years time.

  • @GTAP2K9 first class piss pants

  • She's my hero.

  • 2:15:25.. amazing!

  • shes just amazing.

theres nothing else i can say

shes just the ultimate person to look up to.

  • She is my ulitame heroin.Paula is a phenomenon! She rocks! I try to channel her when I run. I wish I couod have a quarter of her ability. She is the reason I took a whole hour off my time in 2 years time. She is a great inspiration. I can't wait to see what she does next! Even if she quits today, she had an awsome record holding time!WOW!!!

  • Paula is an outstanding testament to the enduring spirit that is marathon running and running in general. I, for one, have felt the same thing at the same point in a marathon, albeit I was not running as fast. She bounced back; I'll bounce back.

I respect her more than any other athlete. She is simply outstanding and a great figurehead for our sport.

  • Excellent posting. Anyone who's run track or road can point to plenty of shockers in their career. The good times more than make up for bad ones. Paula wouldn't be half as inspirational if she went out and demolished the field every time but only ran within herself. Instead, every time she goes out, she runs a total gutser, so there's no way that she's going to die not knowing. A great athletic inspiration.

  • Well done for your 7 marathons, but do you know what you are talking about? Are you even aware that Paula won the World Championship Marathon? No pressure in that race! Do you know she had a stress fracture 8 weeks before Beijing? Its no more possible to win the Olympic Marathon with that preparation than it is as a 60 + year old

  • so much admiration for her truly a british masterclass and such a talent regardless of the ignorance some people seem to have regarding her, an outstanding athlete and an amazing person

  • As someone who has run 27 marathons and four ultras I think Radcliffe is one of the greats. When I ran my first marathon in 81 if somebody would have told me in just over 20 years a woman would run 2:15 I would have said no chance. I have been a fan of her a long time before she was a world beater because, to me, she was the Brendon Foster of the female world. You got 100% with Paula and she has always been so brave and gutsy.

  • Paula is a great runner .

  • For all those who complain about Paula quitting a marathon I have one question to ask, "Have you yourself ever ran a marathon?" Until you personally know the physical and mental toll of 26.2 miles then you don't have the right to say anything.

  • well said. especially at the pace she does it. that's a totally different kettle of fish all on it's own x

  • people are so harsh on her, how many other people can run like her in england? She's so talented and she's broken the world record so i don't think anyone should judge her.

  • World Cross Country Championships

  • face facts people.Paula is the best marathon runner on the planet.end of story.

  • Rosa Mota was an incredible competitor at the Marathon. Times always progress but her best was 1 1/2 miles behind Paula Radcliffe's. Paula won the world cross 3 times, was European & Comomonwealth champion on the track and won the World Championship Marathon.

  • I was crying ALOT this olympics when she gt interveiwed at the finish. Its amazing that she finished it after breaking her leg just months earlier. She's amazing. I really hope she's good for London 2012, she runs her best in London :)

  • Go Paula !!! I wish you the best of luck

  • Despite with a broken leg before Beijing 2008, Paula Radcliffe ran the marathon and finished the race.

  • Go Paula, watching right now, wishing a lot of luck and lets hope you took some painkillers because that leg/hip must be agony!

  • she looks such a nice person i love seeing her running

  • At least that one was funny! That just proves she's no quitter. She's got a stress fracture and still trying to run in Beijing. For those doubters, as you don't really follow athletics, look at her record on Wikipedia or IAAF site. Easily the best British distance runner of all time male or female.

  • Stopping in one race does not make you a quiter. She came back the following year and won the World Championships. Even in UK everyone has somehow forgotten that. If M Johnson pulled up injured in a race would he bother walking to the finish?

  • Brewpat whats you best at 5 minute time for the marathon. Try doing one in 30 degree plus and 90 % humidity at 5 minute mile pace. You wouldn't last 5 minutes

  • "She started the greatest Olympic event of all time and didn't finish. Not start + Not finish = Quitter" Did you even notice that she won the Wold Championship the year after. She has the best record of any distance runner the uk has ever produced

  • she is a great runner

  • Radcliffe wasn't the only athlete to pull out of the marathon that day, many others did due to the punishing conditions in Athens, she just received the most attention for doing so due to her immense accomplishments in the sport.

The distance can be punishing even for the best. Maybe you've never dropped out of a marathon before. Good for you. Its a whole different ball game when you try to run that distance at an Olympic pace.

  • I was typing in "Paula Radcliffe" to figure out what this head nod style of hers is, and one of the autocomplete choices was "Paula Radcliffe pees". Perverts.

  • How about you try and go to be an olympic runner.

That's more than just running any marathon. Olympics. She had an emotional and physical breakdown. She spends her life doing this and she has millions of people pressuring her to do well. Everyone has a breaking point. She is human.

  • I have great respect for Ms. Radcliffe. Not everyone of us has the physical ability to run a marathon. It's sad her body didn't endure, but she's still great. I wish her the best of luck.

  • She is no where near a quitter. If you watch any of her other races, all the way through she looks in agony, head bobbing and face grimmacing. Yet she never gives in and never gives up. The whole Athens thing has been so badly misinterpreted. She had to take anti-flammotories 2 weeks before the race and this depleted her glycogen because she wasn't absorbing food. She was running on empty and couldn't go on. It was amazing that she got that far into the race without pulling out. Legend x

  • Erm no she isnt id like to see you run that and see how u fail she was tired bless her she still did it that makes her a winner x

  • your ignorant and miss the point, she is one of the greatest female athletes ever and as somtimes happens her body just wasnt ready for the olympics at that time.

  • My hero ,what an athlete, she will again prove them all wrong and win a gold medal this year, what dont kill you only makes u stronger, from a mere 2.50 marathon runner we all know what can happen especailly at that level.most of us would last a mile at her speed. The greatest female athlete of all time.

    marty g

  • As a competitve marathoner, she inspires me!! It is always a honor to run in the same races as her even if I can't beat her.

  • knockout9999- it's Daniel Powter "You Had a Bad Day"

  • Nope. it's strictly Daniel Powter's "Bad Day"

  • wt is the song?

  • She is without a doubt the greatest female distance runners of all time, and in fact one of the greatest distance runners of all time, period. She does it all with grace and class, she is a the epitome of all that is great about running. I love you Paula.

  • my coach, from tunisia is paula's bestfriend. they used to go to altitude together

these things happen when ur a runner..

  • The best athlete we will ever see in our lives.

  • Paula Radcliffe is by far one of the best (arguably the best) distance athletes the world has ever seen. Thanks for making this video.

  • Paula Radcliffe rocks...She's definitely one of my heroes. I heard that some people made fun of Paula for sitting at the curb, but anyone who makes fun of her is stupid. I mean the people that usually make fun are those that can't do anything themselves. You lose some and you win some. That's all there is to it. Still, its a good video too, shows both her wins and losses. So good job.

  • It was on talk sport yesterday that she has hurt her toe and is out of the London marathon this year.

  • Man, I remember watching this during the olympics and just crying, my heart just broke for her-- such an amazing athlete, still an incredible inspiration.

  • Reminds us that even the best of us have bad days. As she's breaking down, you just want to yell out, "Don't give in Paula" and words of encouragement. As she sits down on the curb, it's hard not to feel as though you too are right there with her. Nonetheless, an amazing athlete.

  • Paula is amazing, she represents what athletics is about, hard work, determination, fair play and an entire life dedicatated with passion to the sport

  • great comment!

  • paula is just FANTASTIC!!! the greatest female runner off all times regardless of her results in the olympics. she will succeed in beijing and london just because she is destined for greatness!!

  • Doesnt matter what anyone says the girls a legend and has been since she was a bedford & County.

She`ll get her long sought after olympic title nxt year in China then probably again in London in 2012

  • I love Paula - what a badass. I was so glad that she beat that Ethiopian woman at the NYC Marathon. The Ethiopian sat behind Paula the whole race not helping out with the pace at all.

  • Superb posting. Paula is without a shadow of doubt the greatest female athlete that GB has ever seen. She had (hopefully still has) the ability to annihilate the field; Athens demonstrated in spades that she is human and, above all, drugs-free. Holmes had a great week - Radcliffe has been doing the business for years. She ought to be a Dame by now and being considerably well paid to get the nation fit. Hope to God she does London in 2012 - I'll be there with a flag for her.

  • Gosh I'd never even heard of Paula before 2004 but that marathon in Athens is just heartbreaking to anyone watching it.

  • apparently she injured her leg 2 weeks b4 the events and took anti-inflammatories which hindered food absorption in the stomach which resulted in lack of carbs to muscles and they shut down !

  • She went into the race pretty much under the knowledge she had no chance.

She did well to get as far as she did in athens.

If shes illness/injury free in her preparations for the beijing olympics then she will win hands down.

Another thing to point out though is the favourite has never won the marathon at the olympics!

  • hopes she bring her own air, the smog in beijing very bad!

  • She's the world record holder, raymondtv, how'd she get that without finishing?

  • She IS, without a doubt, the best MARATHONER in the world. A true inspiration for all athletes.

  • Paula Radcliffe is truly amazing. Bad races can happen to anyone; even the world record holder. Thank you, Paula, for inspiring me to keep working toward the dream! Your autobio is truly an inspiration every chapter!

  • Great comeback from the tears of Athens to win the New York Marathon and then become World Champion in Helsinki a year later.

  • This video is truly inspirational! I am a serious hobby runner myself and everytime I watch this video it makes me wanna go out and run! Paula, you are the best!

  • Perserverance, determination and passion will always win out. Radcliffe the real thing.

  • she is almost without a doubt the best female marathoner in the world

  • She IS, without a doubt, the best MARATHONER in the world, male o female.

  • iMovie?

  • Still makes me slighty melancholic!!!! C'mon Paula! ROLL ON BEIJING 2008! xxx

  • Paula is a legend. The best distance runner the Uk has ever produced male or female. Finish the race. She was ill before but tried. Idiots that knock her know nothing about running.

  • exactly!!!!

  • She gave it everything she had. What more can she ask of herself? I'm very proud of her.

  • The Highs and Lows!!!

Of the best female Brittish Distance runner in the country!!!

She makes me proud to be British!!!

She carries the weight of the British public on her small shoulders!!! As she is the main British Female Medal Hope!

She's an inspiration to go back and do it again!

YOU'LL WIN IN BEIJING 2008 PAULA

  • Totally agree with what you said about Paul Radcliffe. I have known her since she was 14. Best ever.

  • Paula, ets molt gran!

    Que n'aprenguin!

Pequín 2008 serà tot un espectacle.

  • C'mon Paula,you're gonna win Beijing 2008

  • fall down seven times, stand up eight - Japanese proverb

  • I like that

  • wonderful video shows paula radcliffe at ther best and her worst day of her life but she climbed back out to rise again like the phoenix from the ashes good on yer paula we luv you x

  • I think this is a really inspirational video about how sometimes in life you fall but you have to pick yourself up and rise again.

  • what a great video..Paula Radcliffe is such a star..she makes you proud to be British..I so hope she gets the olympic gold she deserves in Beijing
