  • @Murbuzz show a little respect you imbecil of the Satan.

  • I love Charlotte's voice. I did start watching / listening more to classical / opera after I heard her at 12 or 14 singing. I do prefer her singing that music; but ultimately, it's her decision. Therefore, why all the negative comments? It gets really old hearing / watching people try to tear other people down. What's the point? Issues????

  • Magda Olivero sang it much better at the age of 91 for the 25th anniversary of the death of Maria Callas.

  • She did this improptu the day(or so) PJP passed.

  • shhhhh.....one of God's angels are singing for u. b still the evil that is in ur heart. cast it out i pray for you

  • ??? lovely song and why are you guys fiting over nothing???.

  • Pope John Paul the second was awesome. A tuly powerfull spiritual person.

  • @rellama1 that messag that says your going to heel is for you by the way you ass

  • @rellama1 that messag that says your going to hell is for you

  • @rellama1 From the look of things you've spent like a month on this video saying viscious garbage. Pretty much tells everyone here that you are some angry, evil little shit living home in mom's basement and hating god because he didn't keep you from fucking up your own life and didn't save you from yourself.

  • OK, show me one famous and rich person that has a whiter then white cloak. There is nt one. So why should they have it all? Who paid for this anyway? She doesnt sing for me right.

  • if there were a god.., he would nt condone whats going on in the world. And i cant stand when self righteous swine want to tell us how the pendulum should swing, Its always the fucking criminals that get into some hall of fame, They re full with all the trash this planet ever turned out

  • what does her attitude have to do with her talent. perfect charlotte

  • Can't dispute she's amazing, but 'Celtic Woman' perform it with so much more expression!!

  • Shut the f--- up you stupid bastard. May his holiness rest in peace.

  • hèy_Ì_fÉël_sÔ_lÒÑElY_tödÄý

  • It is truly just so sad, because their will not ever be another Charlotte Church. She is unique in and of herself.

  • Please take a look at my facebook page dedicated to Charlotte's singing career, so far...

  • If you simply listen you will say "she's great! bla bla bla" but if you think technically, she's SO terrible. Poor of her voice, it's gonna end to bad, it's like if she's spitting it all the time and her jaw.... damn it, her teacher was heartless! and if she had not got one, what a terrible way to destroy a voice, all singing is dangerous without technique but classical in particular is more than dangerous :(...

  • @SakumaRyuichiNG i think that this may also be a reason why she chosed pop over classical music. i think she just couldn't sing classical music anymore because every singer knows that if you don't use the right technique, you won't be able to sing very long. when i heard her the first time she was a little girl and i thought that she had a great talent but now i just can say that her voice sounds and looks irreparable to me...

  • @loanadida it's pretty sad when a voice is destroyed indeed, it must be so frustrating, at least it'ld be for me.

Did she chose pop music? Oh, didn't know about it, but well, modal voice and mix voice will be a more secure for her at this point of her career.

I am not up for children singing classical music, teachers usually want children to sound more mature than they're in reality and that's so wrong. Irreparable... might be not, but for a recovery it'll take a looot of work and discipline.

  • perfection. What a gift from God she has. gorgeous!

  • A very very job indeed.

  • BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO...brings tears to my eyes

  • can someone stop her?????

  • shes always wonderful...

  • I used to like Charlotte Church when she was in her teens, but her voice just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Please check out Mirusia Louwerse singing this song with Andre Rieu.

You may be amazed............Jaw dropping performance which my put tears in your eyes.

Mirusia Louwerse with Andre Rieu "Panis Anjelicus"

  • Owahhh, yikes!! Very sad. Its like watching Callas sing her last "O Mio Babbino Caro." Still, it's a nice lyrical voice. I hope she gets with a good teacher.

  • Someone get her a bobby pin.

  • She did good!! Love you Charlotte, lol!

  • That jaw is still wobbling 90 miles an hour. Sad, really sad. Whoever taught her jaw vibrato should be shot!!!

  • what god? If there was one, this bunch of child rapers wouldnt be sitting in that hall,

  • gazzing those catholic scum is not disrespectul, its a service to mankind

  • @rellama1 That is just unnecessary and highly disrespectful. I think you should go fuck yourself on behalf of the rest of the people watching this video....

  • @murbuzz now bitch, suck ass, Its what ure here on this planet for,

  • @Prussialovesme Oh, i had a feeling it could have been for rellama1.....you are forgiven :P

  • @murbuzz can we be friends

  • @rellama1 You are a disgrace to write such filth. Why are you even watching this video if that is how you think? I feel sorry for you.

  • @lins0084 dont feel sorry, i speak the truth

  • @lins0084 dont feel sorry, i speak the truth. i didnt watch this because of this vile pope and his disciples but to see Miss Church how she has developed now,

  • @rellama1 If that is your only reason for watching this video, then why on earth would you write something so disgusting? What you wrote is not the truth, it is an abomination. And yes, I do feel sorry for you.

  • @lins0084 well dont feel sorry for me, I dont feel sorry for anyone, Whats not the truth? That the church is a pedophile club? And has sucked humanities blood for centuries and continues to do so? I could enlighten you but youre brain washed and probably think youre going to heaven one day, I just cant understand why ppl fall for this bull. And Charlotte Church is a good singer, But all that is negated from now on knowhing who she is singing for. To me the pope and his ass lickers are just jerks

  • @lins0084 You havent seen abomination dear. If i showed you the gruesome details of the churches crimes you d just cover your eyes and your ears, Cause the fucking world dont work the way you think. Especially you americans. You make the world believe the sun is shining out of your asses, Having all of those heart warming parties all over whilst your killer pilots murder whole nations around the world, Face up to reality,

Having Church sing her ballads whilst ppl are being shredded into pieces

  • @rellama1 So now Americans can't have heart warming parties because someone somewhere is being killed by someone that 99.9999999999999% of Americans have no control over? Maybe we should all just be like you and say stupid shit on youtube because obviously you're really making the world a better place. Douche.

  • @megadethmonk not for one moment did i think them f....g yanks give a damn anyway,

its not just 0,00001 pct of americans that welcome the carnage. 50% do. 99,99999999

of the ones that vote for this fascist republican outfit. i make the world a better place

by not murdering thousands every day like u fuckers do. Go and sit and listen to this voice

    and enjoy. Alien!!!!

  • @lins0084 the scandal is that just a small part of humanity is eating up all the riches and paradise whilst ppl like you gloat at harmless remarks that are totally justified. PROVE ME WRONG!!!!!! IF YOU CAN. But you cant, You know where paradise is? Its right here on this planet, Ruined by the likes of USA and all the other bullshit artists, Face up to it, Its the goddamn truth,

  • @lins0084 Reality is disgusting too, Why not write disgusting, You know what reality is. But you drew your curtains on it so you can all live in your own world. Its not for you or the church or the US govt to decide for the world.

  • Please go back to singing this kind of music forever Charlotte. This is who you really are, and you are amazing this way.

  • blow me a job charlotte,

  • now would be a good moment to gaz the place, with all the the pedophiles in it,

  • @rellama1 Shut up you tragic spastic

  • oh thats nice now aint it, the popes listening to a stropy little diva bitch who if she was 10 yrs old would probably have sexually abused her

  • centaur you made me laugh so hard, you fool. you, my dear are an idiot.

  • whats the name of this song ? band or breath of angels ?

  • @thasnaps Panis Angelicus

  • @rellama1 And you, too.

  • @SpeedyTase yeah cause no one will fuck u

  • @rellama1 still God loves you. PEACE!

  • I love you !

  • she us good

  • I seriously doubt that any of the people who have commented here (including the nice commenters) could hold a candle to her voice. If she wants to smoke let her smoke. If she wants to swear let her swear. Her tone is angelic and that is why people like her.

  • @kittykatondalose no one here can hold a candle to her voice? Pretty wild assumption. Want to know how I came to fall in love with her? I was a church chorister in England and after 5 years of training I developed an enormous headvoice (I'm going to assume you know the difference between head and chest voice). My range was way too high for pop. But it wasn't for Charlotte's music. Yes I could hold a candle to her-I'd never be her, but I didn't feel like a freak. We both ruined our vocal chords.

  • @centaur532 and you signed a million dollar record contract with who?

  • @edonotokyo There's a huge difference between being a techincally perfect vocalist and someone whose voice actually isn't grating. I felt less of a freak for being able to hit every single note in The Laughing Song (face it, we ALL sing along with our favourite artists).

I have long held a theory that those with a talent big enough for the world have a hunger for performing and the stage. When I was a kid, I would have puked or fainted. My point was, there are equals, some want it, some don't.

  • ghb61, you are an asshole.

  • It's almost painful to actually watch this. Not just that the pope died, but that she just... she isn't what she once was.. and it's really dissapointing.

  • I still love her voice...hope she goes back to classical

  • Americans are so ridiculous. Hypocritical philistines one and all!

  • there are many children and teen agers that have better voice than hers... more talented people around her age. she's not that talented

yes she has a good high voice, but not high enough to make from an opera song a real opera song

she sang better when she was younger

  • Charlotte is AMAZING, my God, what a voice! I don't know of many kids her age that can sing like this!

  • Pope John Paul II brought down Communism in Eastern Europe with the help of other world leaders such as Ronald Reagan. So, even though I am not Catholic, I really respect him for that. If there's one good thing that the Catholic Church has accomplished to improve the world, this is it.

  • I don't like it, too harsh. You can also tell that all she thinks about is her technical responsibilities, the musical aspect is superficial. I am not touched at all. She has a lot to learn.

  • You know Gods gifts are not always given to the deserving or the most personable of people Just look at John Lennon for example

  • @Phidelio2 Wow.. I've never looked at it that way/ Thank you. You got me thinking.

  • Ive got the stake dropped into the ground. Who brought the gasoline? Check. The big pile of kindling? Check. The ropes? Check. The infidel witch? Check. Alright. Let's burn us some Charlotte Church. Have a big outdoor roast.

  • What a sick and terrible thing to say about a fellow human being. I hope God has mercy for you with that kind of attitude and unjustifiable anger. God bless. j and family

  • @JJ2955 sighhhhhhhh I was being sarcastic. I think the Charlotte hate has gotten way out of hand. Folks talk like they want to lynch her or something. She makes poor lifestyle choices. So what? She's more likely to listen to someone who has patience with her, than the boar or troll who thinks the way that I was parodying, that is illustrating the absurd by being absurd.

  • Can she sing Battle of the Hymn of the Republic?

  • She has a voice that come move one to tears, such a blessful gift and talent to behold.

  • 2:33 she looks like she's holding a rosary.

  • Comment removed

  • emmalujean: if you can do better, by all means download/post you singing, then let you tube members decide......as a tenor my self you shock me to write such a nasty comment about a fellow singer?

  • actually I'm an opera singer, and have a bit of an idea what good technique sounds like.

  • @emmalujean

I am sorry to hear that you are retarded. But God probably loves you anyway.

  • @dtm18134 I think you must be the slow one as my understanding of what @emmalujean is saying is that she doesn't think Church is any good and so therefore is no way no a retard (God i hate that word) I do believe you are the slow one!!!! and yes it is crap

  • The best Pope we've been here

  • yeah im agree...

  • She was probably a little rusty singing this kind of music, so it may have been more of a strain for her, after turning her back on classical for punk, and becoming a foul-mouthed, chain-smoking lush. I thought she was wonderful when she first took the world by storm as a young teenager, but she threw it all away for a narcissistic and "screw you" attitude. Really too bad.

  • What a beautiful girl, such a gifted voice.

Raw talent. An angle from above.

  • No, she turned into a regular teenager and her adoring public couldn't take it. The only difference between her and other British teenagers is that she was expected to be a sweet 12 yo her entire career. And paparazzi was there to capture it all and distory photos and quotes to sell paperrs. Most teenagers fight with their parents, drink a lot, party with friends and experiment with cigarettes etc. If you read her blog on her website, she's still the same Charl she started as, w/ time passing.

  • @ghb61 I'm sure Maria Callas kicked up her heels in her youth ... and later on both smoke and drank.

  • @ghb61 In that case all teenagers are narcissists growing up. SHE. GREW. UP. The end. The rest of the world wanted her to stay in this tiny little box of innocence and cuteness forever and guess what...doesn't exist. All that happened was she became a teenager and wanted to spread her wings and what the hell is wrong with that? Does she need the public's permission to start drinking a few times a week when she goes out with friends, or to start smoking (now quiit)-and she's not a narcissist.

  • @centaur532 you're right, she's HUMAN!!!

  • @ghb61 now it's your turn to sing like that....huh, can you sing that song better than charlotte.....???

  • @ghb61 Yes, its a terrible waste of a angel's ability. I hope one day she see's the light.

  • @ghb61 You know, for a nobody you sure are quick to judge people. You speak of her like that, but it wasn't you being used as a 'cash mule' from a child at such a young age....do you not think she might not want to follow her own interests in music, as opposed to those of her parents which are just to make money? And if she chain-smokes and swears, what the hell has it got to do with you? People like you piss me off. She has a brilliant voice and deserves to be happy!

  • @ghb61

For Punk?? I'm sorry, could you elaborate? The most POP thing I know she has done is "Like a Bridge" and that isn't punk. To borrow a phrase, "Hell that aint even the same ball park!" Chain smoking lush? Well I think I will take that with the same grain of "this guy is a retard" that I take the punk comment, thank you very much.

Oh BTW, just in case it passed you buy... yes I called you a retard. Just because you are.

  • @margaritamadman Um...she had a 5 album deal with Sony. Her last was called Tissues and Issues, was released on Columbia records (the pop subsidiary of Sony) and she wrote or cowrote all the songs on it. It was her way of saying, "can you stop shoving me in this box, there's more to me." First single was Crazy Chick-unbelievably catchy, look it up, second was Call My Name-kinda sexy and steamy, again extremely catchy. Not so much punk as pop with some old school funk and blues influence.

  • @centaur532

While not exactly punk, I'll concede the point - its far from what she had been doing. I do not follow performers careers per se, nor do I track their personal lives in the daily rags. But my point was to call to question the vitriolic tenor of the OP. Sounds to me like the poor girl became a teenager, and acted as they almost all do, establishing them-selfs for them-selfs. It is her voice, her career, her choice and not up to others to judge.

  • @ghb61 i agree with u 100%.

  • @ghb61 Ummm I would say I agree with everything your saying but...you say she was 'probably a little rusty and it may have been a strain for her?? o_o....o_O...O__O WHICH PART!?!?!

She sang this perfectly, maybe slightly shaky in the beginning from nerves but this was fantastic. As for all the rest of what u said, totally agree. She got swept up in all the glitz n glamour and forgot wat she was truly meant to be doing: Singing like this and blessing all us lost souls starving for real music.

  • @ghb61 So she used to sing classical music and thus many of us fell in love with classical music and/or her voice. She was a child when she started her singing career. What gives you the right to say it was a bad choice? So if you had figured that your first career didn't fit you, you wouldn't have changed it? The only person who can say if it was a bad choice or not is Charlotte, no one else.

  • @Smileater Classical music is about becoming the best you can be. Punk is about becoming the worst humanity has to offer. You can't seriously believe that this was a good career choice.

  • @ghb61

she threw it away for pop culture

  • @darkstar1345a it ain't over till its over. pray for her. love her.

  • @ghb61 Peter denied him three times. Pray that she grows to understand her gift from Him and that she returns to understand and embrace her life as He so seeks. And remember His Son Jesus encouraged us all not just to love (always) and forgive (not three times or two times three plus one BUT 70 times 7 and more). I pray that I will grow closer to Him. She is still and always be a beautiful woman who wants to love and be loved. Pass it on. Vaya con Dios! Sincerely.

  • Concentrate on her voice NOT the way she looks. Difficult song to sing.

    Well done!!!

  • Why doesnt she stick with singing operaretic and classical like this instead of taking the pop road?

  • Wow. I think she did a great job!

  • @GCOLE2 Very perfectly put. And yes she was rusty by this time. Her fans were very LUCKY to even hear her sing this again. And on top of what you said, in the most recent interview with Charlotte, she admitted that she has forgotten entirely how to sing classically. I will never understand the decisions she has made for her life.

  • her facial expressions and the pain in her eyes tells me that she was really upset the Pope died also her hair looks as if she did not have any professional hairstylist give it a nice style

  • i dont like the way she lets her jaw shake when she does vibrato. looks horrible

  • I agree that it's not visually pleasing. It is, however, a sympathetic reaction to what the larynx is doing by the body. Some people's head shakes up and down: some the jaw. When that kind of sound is bouncing around, there's nothing you can do about it when the voicebox hits vibratto.

  • to be fair to her shes obviously upset the pope died since she had met and sang to him before so that can account for her tension . . .

charlotte does have some bad habbits but such a beutiful voice and with some propper training would be phenominal and shes also such a beutiful girl, FANTASTIC!

  • I thought she sounded beautiful. Her facial expression did look like she was struggling, but the voice sounded just fine.

  • I don't know what the words are but the tone of the music is somber and when you sing a song you convey a feeling. Her singing may have been in complete alignment with the words and meaning of the song hence her expression.

  • poor girl... she has such a beautiful and natural talent, but i have to agree that it really did sound and look painful. she did not look like she enjoyed singing at all... almost like it was painful for her to do it as well.

  • this was beutifully done. Sarah Brightman also sang in this show after 9/11. It was gorgeous. I hope she could perform there again.

  • Che STRAZIO .... che ORRORE If she is wonderfull wath are Maria Callas , Mirella Freni , Montserrat Caballè , Sutherland , June Anderson , Cecilia Gasdia , Nataly Dessai , Daniela Dessì , Luciana Serra and so on ?!? These are good Singers and good Artists ... miss Church NEVER could sing an OPERA .... NEVER , because she has NO techniqe , because ahe does not have good Teachers and so on - she is just a poor IGNORANT of OPERA

  • Elliot you go ahead and tell Whitney Houston then that she is a bad singer because she has a shaking jaw. Having a shaking jaw has nothing to do with how you sing. Everybody has their own way of doing everything. Even if she had to be cross-eyed and pick her nose, who cares if it makes her sing better. It's how people feel comfortable singing in their own way and that's all there is to it.

  • I think what Elliot really means is that her "vocal technique" in an operatic sense is not really all that good.

This guy has the best operatic technique :

    /watch?v=j_1AqPVqH80

If you watch his jaw and neck you´ll se that its completely relaxed and he does vibrato only with his diaphragm.

You don´t really need good techinque to be a good singer though, but it sure helps in the operatic world at least :)

  • True it does help but doesn't necessarily make you a better singer for it. Just depends on how comfortable you are while your singing to keep as little as strain as possible on your vocal chords. Which i'm pretty sure 99% of pro's have no problem with.

But yes i can understand what you mean, and if that's what he's talking about that makes sense.

  • Well, good thecnique does not a good singer make, someone who is a robot will still be a robot.

That aside a better tech will give you more ways to express yourself and less chance of destroying your voice.

History, which is filled with ruined voices would beg to differ about those 99% :(

  • I do agree with you history is filled with many, many ruined voices. But i'm not so sure that it came from having a shaking jaw.

  • Oops. Wrong account. The above statement was actually mine. ofamily6 is my brother.

  • I clearly do not care about any tension of her face or anything.. I am not a "absolute basic student of the basic of classical singing" or whatever word you could put on it... I just enjoy when she sings.. BTW Elliot, I don't understand half what you say :S

  • i COMPLETELY AGREE just listen and enjoy. And Wow, if I could be so bad in vocal technique.

Mike, clearly in denial, and loving it.

  • The voice flows, sweetens and soothes like milk and honey.

  • There is clearly tension in that voice, in that face and in that person. ANYONE who thinks otherwise is clearly in denial of basic vocal technique and is simply ignoring the facts.

  • think about this.. if she sang for the pope before and had met him, why wouldn't she feel any remorse for his passing? that can cause tension especially when singing

  • As Vocal performance (in Opera) students at the Manhattan school of music in NEW YORK. we are taught the absolute basics in singing upfront. a shaking jaw is a sign of complete facial tension and is therefore a credit to bad singing. That ONE point is not a should or shouldnt thing at all. if there are any absolutes in singing it is that in order to sing correclty one must be voice of bad tensions.

  • Anyone who has a negative comment about this video is severely lacking in taste. Charlotte Church has a beautiful voice, and it is a gift to those who appreciate classical and operatic music. When singing with such power, it is impossible to look unstrained like a cover model. Be real!

  • Dear Kathie 0823, I agree with you... not only do these negative people lack taste, they lack class and...they have no connection to God ! They must be unhappy in their lives that they have to displace their frustration and anger on this video. I love Charlotte Church and her beautiful voice! She sang this very well...

  • shut up. seriously no ones cares about any of your comments. just listen to the video and appriciate it.

  • If I could sing like that, I wouldn't care what my face looked like.

    @orfeo2003

I don't think there's a 'supposed'...that's just a textbook thing. I say if someone shows interest, feed it. If they have talent and want to pursue it, then why stop theme because of age?

    @LiLAngel356

People are different and as such will do things differently. A jaw shaking when one sings is a personal reaction. Again, it's not a 'should' or 'shouldn't' thing...if it does it does, if it doesn't it doesn't.

  • of course her jaw is going to shake with that vibrato why does every one talk about the way their faces look thats not what matters

  • @Seabirdifly

I agree. But I think she was perhaps trying not to cry, maybe? I'm not sure. The good thing is she's back where she belongs like you said.

  • I'm sorry, but you obviously don't know much about opera if you think she is the best opera singer alive today

  • gunnin!!!!

  • She's the best female opera singer alive today IMO.

  • Jaw shaking or not, she got to sing for the pope!! :)

  • I'm no expert singer... yet. But, I think she looks almost like she's straining a little. Maybe that's the effect she's aiming for but I don't think it's such a good look..... would have sounded better with a bit more than a piano behind her, sounds a bit dull and pained

  • You said it well. You aren't an expert singer. So your opinion is immediatly void and useless

  • B3Ger: I'm assuming that you must be the biggest charlotte church fan out there, irrespective of your love for her voice/musci whatever, I am entitled to my own opinion just like evryone else is on this page.....

  • @B3Ger Now you're egocentrism makes sense... you're only 22 years old!! Let me explain how online forums work... someone posts up a video, members then leave comments, grant it not always good, but that's the beauty of it... you get to give your presonal opinion, not professional etc but what you think, this goes for absolutely everyone on this forum... now do you understand how it works honey. If you still need it explained please feel free to ask again!!!!

  • She started doing things she shouldn't have done very soon. Children are not supposed to sing that way, this is the result. She's cute, though.

  • The whole issue with her technique being bad is that, for one, it's basics that all musicians should be taught and, two, she "could" sound sooo much better if she'd fix some of those things...

  • I'm with torosax on this video. Given time I really hope that Charlotte can get back to her old technique, her mouth shape is a great starting point, at the moment it even looks wrong. There is some wonderful sound loitering beneath a few years of using different methods, and it is just great to see her back where she belongs!

  • Creo que le falta "verdad" a su canto . Su apariencia es como la de uno de esos trasvestis que hay en mi podrido rumbo

  • I want to make it clear that I love Charlotte Church no matter what. For me, she is the best soprano I have ever heard both for her appeal, her voice and her talent.

  • I'm amazed at people who want to be critical of technique. As a person who can't sing for toffee, I would kill to have this kind of talent. A singer who can raise the spirit and make the hairs on the back of your neck rise, is something to relish, regardless of whether she shakes her jaw or not.

  • Me too, lozsmithone. I can sing well but not in any well known classical singer's league. Cannot stand snobbery in any form, especially the arts and as for so called technique, who cares? I used to travel the world as a soloist in a huge youth choir. I was a silver soprano.

  • Thank you Torosax for your comments. I believe you are the 'authority' here. I do hope Charlotte Church would closely consider your 'critique'. "Our critics are the guardians of our soul --- anonymous."

  • It is very beautiful. I love her when she sings cl
