@SwagMasterBruh it would work but I think much cheaper prime lenses like the 35mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/1.4 would be a better choice, they give you sharper images and have larger f/stops without the large weight and cost.
@TheAFROMUSIC it looks like our space concerning specifically semi professional and professional is smaller now. d7000 is perhaps all we all need. go to... freedslr . com remove spaces and take a chance to win completely new Nikon D7000
what lens do you prefer if i have a 500 dollar budget, and i want a telephoto lens. i own the d3000 and i think i need a little better quality. Thanks
@187lickmynuts d40 is amazing, its small, takes video and pictures and d3000, wich i have obviously, only takes pics. along with the d60, which i have aswell, only takes pics, but as far as quality and basic features there all good.
Well if i wanted a video camera i would have bought a video camera. Considering i´ll use my camera for only photographing and can get away alot cheaper with the 3000 i think i´ll go with that.
Just bought one of these Thanks for your insight on the camera .. I got to baseball and other sporting events a lot and I'm hoping that this camera will be sufficient
You didn't mentioned the biggest difference between D3000 and D5000. The D5000 has the CMOS sensor which is much better as the old CCD sensor used in D3000
You didn't mentioned the biggest difference between D3000 and D5000. The D5000 has the CMOS sensor which is much better as the old CCD sensor used in D3000
@doomsword86 Before you purchase the camera be sure to know what you also want. The Nikon D3000 is a newest entry level camera for average consumers, and it has more new features like larger megapixel, larger LCD screen, and etc. than the old entry level cameras (D40, D60, D50 etc.). And Nikon D5000 is a bit more pricier but you get the live view, larger mp, and it can record HD video! in which Nikon D3000 doesn't have. So bargaining around on the web to find a good deal. I'm sure they have.
hey I have a question can the Nikon D3000 take videos? please tell me it can my dad's already bought it for my birthday! I was looking at Nikon compact camera and it could take 720 and 1020 HD movies....please answer ASAP!
@BurninC4rtrage megapixels makes no difference unless you have 4x more megapixels. To see a noticeable difference from a 6.1 you'd need a hypothetical "24.4 megapixel" camera. Wow n00b sauce
What is the best? D3000 cause its desined for noobs like me.. D5000 is a little bigger and has more features but is also more expensive. Regardless the D3000 is more camera than i will ever need.
@ekstrmzz the only thing that has made me sad about the d3000 is that it dosent have a built in wireless flash commander. So you cant use a fancy wirless flash things wirelessly
One more difference not from features but from underlying technology is that the D5000 and higher cameras come with a CMOS sensor while D3000 has CCD sensor
Both CMOS and CCD sensors have their bit of problems with the image quality under specific conditions. (Just google up "CMOS vs CCD sensor" and "rolling shutter vs global shutter")
I would factor in cost of a lot of additional batteries to D3000 vis a vis D5000
Nikon.... They tried to do some crappy things to camera owners. Some propriatory stuff that could in the future make a camera useless. There was a review thing about it. Then finally Nikon came along [with Adobe] and is more transparent now about their stuff. In the article it was very interesting how camera companies can discontinue a camera and then all the software support could vanish too. So your left with no support and a useless camera.
Maybe you can help me, i have marks coming up on the viewfinder on my d3000, and when i get into the body i can see the marks on the lowest mirror in the body. I tried a micro-fibre cloth but it wont the get the marks off.
Is it possible to shot professional photo's with the D3000? Cause I wanna use it for weddingparty's etc. to shot good quality pictures?? I am looking forward for you answer... Thanks
What do you think about the comparison between d5000 or the d90? They seem to have very similar specs except for a larger view on the d90. The d5000 is also a lot cheaper, though not in quality. Thanks
what would you recomed the nikon d3000 or the nikon d5000?im thinking d3000 becase of its guide mode and im thinking d5000 becase of its better specs and video mode and faster frames per sec,and they are booth for a fear price what youd you recomend please help me !!please!
i was trying to take a picture on my D3000 today, and i had the autofocus on. my camera was not taking any pictures, but instead was making a "winding" noise. when i switched it to "manual focus" it was able to take the picture, but it was all blurry.
Would you recommend the Nikkor F/1.8 35mm AF-S lens? I like that fact that its very light-sensitive, so I'll be able to shoot at lower ISO settings.. But is it overall a good lens?
I've got the D3000 with the 70-300 VR , 18-55 VR and a 50 MM Prime lens . But i've been thinking about buying the 14-24 F/2.6 , would it be worth the money (1300 euro) to put on a D3000 because it isn't full frame ? Or should I rather buy a full frame body (in the future) and then buy the 14-24 ? The lens you have on the table , is that the 14-24 ? And which is that other lens ? It would be great if you could put up a review of the 14-24 .
wait until you have a full frame body. Even then make sure you want to use that wide of a lens, it is not made for getting every thing in the picture but to get abstract angles. For most people the nikon 16-35mm f/4 lens is more appealing.
Thanks ! I didn't realize that the 14-24 isn't a good lens for me till now. Last mont I did some concert photography , and liked it a lot. So I went looking for the right kind of lens for that purpose. Found the new Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VRII. It cost around 1900 euro's so I will be saving money for one and a half year :P. I've read that lens is good useable on a DX camera so would it be worth the money to buy the 70-200 and a year later a full frame ? That would suite me way better than a 14-24 xD
Not after only a month. I would use your d3000 for at least a year before you upgrade to a new camera. The d5000 really isnt all that different from the d3000 anyway. If you upgrade from a d3000 you will want to go for a nikon d90. But I would use the camera you have now for a while first.
I bought a D3000 and its looking pretty good so far... stepping it up so far but i do wish i had better range than what was provided... do you have a recommendation for a lens with more range? say for bird shooting or animals in nature? If you could list several options it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the comparison. I use a Nikon FM2 film camera and just recently purchased a Nikon D3000. A very nice camera and easy to use. I like the fact that you can push it to 3200 ISO with great results.
I don't care much about the tilt-screen or video-mode of the D5000.
But when it comes to the image quality and iso-performance, is the D5000 worth the extra bucks? Either I'm gonna get the D3000 with 18-55mm lens, or just the D5000 without lens (got a 24-85mm ill use). The price-difference is about $280.
I got the d3000 with the 18-55 last month and yesterday i got a 55-200 to go with it....fantastic camera, Im loving it. I will prob upgrade next year sometime.
i have a nikon d3000, it's a great entry level dslr, of course d5000 is better but, it has the 11 point focus. QQQcon, what is the best lense for my d3000? please reply. thanks.
wow i checked out your photos on your site they are amazing amazing job congrats keep on going and i just bought a nikon d3000 and im a little confused about it anyone that can help plzzz message me
i finally bought my d3000...its amazng...jst one thing..my retailer gave me a nikkor af-s 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 G II ED, instead of the VR version.....nw i cudnt understand if thr is a diff btwn the two....wud b real gr8 of u if u cud helps me with this.....i did ask for a d3000 kit but he gave me 2 separate boxes for the body and the lens...
its basically the same exact camera besides a .3inch screen and if ur looking for just entry level lenses the new auto focus system will not make much of a difference. personally i say go with the better deal.
so according to this, a d300 would be much better for shooting skateboarding and portraits, than a d5000 which is much more expensive. thanks for the comparison, it really helped me figure out which camera would be optimal.
Would buying SanDisk's 30mb/s Class 10 memory card be a waste of $(overkill/no benefit)??? Would a 15mb/s be more than sufficient? I'm just curious as to the best card I should get for my D3000 without going overboard... Your advice would be much appreciated...
Not if you usually take pictures of sport or action photography, it should help. But in cases like landscape or still life and portrait photography you dont need a high speed memory card.
No it doesnt even do that. It saves the pictures you take quicker so that you dont have to wait as long to take more pics. The image quality does not change.
I've checked your review 2 weeks ago when i bought the D3000. This week I've changed it with the D5000. What do you think? Was it a good choice? Imo ,the noise lvl of the D5000 is way better than the D3000 ,also it has live view ,movie mode ,bracketing ,the articulated screen...basicly ,I like the new toy.
is it worth buying a 24-70mm lens for the d3000
SwagMasterBruh 2 months ago

i have a nikon d3000, it's a great entry level dslr, of course d5000 is better but, it has the 11 point focus. QQQcon, what is the best lense for my d3000? please reply. thanks.
Rockafelluh 2 years ago
nikon 18-200mm is the best choice, if that is too expensive just get the nikon 18-55mm and nikon 55-200mm.
QQQQcon 2 years ago
So you said d5000 is better than d3000 and so good like d60 or d90?
feeruptown 2 years ago

i finally bought my d3000...its amazng...jst one thing..my retailer gave me a nikkor af-s 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 G II ED, instead of the VR version.....nw i cudnt understand if thr is a diff btwn the two....wud b real gr8 of u if u cud helps me with this.....i did ask for a d3000 kit but he gave me 2 separate boxes for the body and the lens...
rohitbhutoria8 2 years ago
The difference is that in the VR, the picture gets stabilized, in the usual it doesn't. Therefore the pictures from the VR become sharper! =)

I can't decide between a d60 or a d3000 what would you recommend for my first DSLR
Graaw22 2 years ago
there like the same thing but the d3000 is newer
asiansk8er91152 2 years ago
@Graaw22 Buy the d3000 is much cheaper and better with AF.
RobinMoviesOffical 2 years ago
its basically the same exact camera besides a .3inch screen and if ur looking for just entry level lenses the new auto focus system will not make much of a difference. personally i say go with the better deal.
PhotoByMikey 2 years ago
get the d3000

QQQQcon 2 years ago

painball658 2 years ago
nikon 18-200mm
QQQQcon 2 years ago

is there any1 has personally experienced this camera?
is Nikon D3000 a Good camera.?
amir8767 2 years ago
it is slow. get Pentax k-x. that's the best solution.
choline500 2 years ago
so according to this, a d300 would be much better for shooting skateboarding and portraits, than a d5000 which is much more expensive. thanks for the comparison, it really helped me figure out which camera would be optimal.

Isn't "Nikon" pronounced "Knee-kon?" I got that directly from their website.
TheynnaJ 2 years ago
mostly ive heard Nye-kon or nick on
not so much knee, but it doesnt really matter. whatever floats your boat
TANGERINEMASTER01 2 years ago

Would buying SanDisk's 30mb/s Class 10 memory card be a waste of $(overkill/no benefit)??? Would a 15mb/s be more than sufficient? I'm just curious as to the best card I should get for my D3000 without going overboard... Your advice would be much appreciated...
DanhNguyenster 2 years ago
Not if you usually take pictures of sport or action photography, it should help. But in cases like landscape or still life and portrait photography you dont need a high speed memory card.
QQQQcon 2 years ago
So higher mb/s only increase frames per second during burst shooting and do not improve photo quality?
DanhNguyenster 2 years ago
No it doesnt even do that. It saves the pictures you take quicker so that you dont have to wait as long to take more pics. The image quality does not change.
QQQQcon 2 years ago
what do you man by d3000 is worse dslr. worse than d40??
mrjangx2 2 years ago
In terms of image quality the nikon d40 is better at high iso. But it is not the worst dslr.
QQQQcon 2 years ago
nice this helped me a lot!!!!! I love youtube!!!
robsonlopes777 2 years ago 2
can this camera film hd video? or is it the D5000 could only do that?
360bmx720 2 years ago
@360bmx720 nvm my question was answered at the end of the video lol
360bmx720 2 years ago
no video for the d3000
e30roundel 2 years ago
what do you mean by the camera performs worse than the d40? in what way?
tomsblink182 2 years ago
in terms of noise. The d3000 has much more noise in its images at higher ISOs than the d40.
QQQQcon 2 years ago
I've checked your review 2 weeks ago when i bought the D3000. This week I've changed it with the D5000. What do you think? Was it a good choice? Imo ,the noise lvl of the D5000 is way better than the D3000 ,also it has live view ,movie mode ,bracketing ,the articulated screen...basicly ,I like the new toy.
Thanks ,Alex
