I wonder if any other mammal or other creature had the instincts to try "chemistry" as we do. Melting metals and experimenting, its amazing to remember being a little kid messing around on instinct and realize its basically the same vibe that gave us stuff like glue.
You asked for suggestions and I gave you one. It is not just about the pause button, but making a good video that is easy to watch. People will assume that the text will be there long enough to read and when it isn't they will have to go back, not just hit pause.
Sorry if others said the same thing, and maybe your later videos have this, but when you put text on the screen, make sure you leave it up long enough for people to read it. Those words were up and gone very quickly. Other than that, great video.
Been making it for 15 years, boiling isn't good, add less charcoal and droppings as you can always add more later plus some drops of fat work wonders.
@twilightfateangel I made the same mistake in this video, but I do have an advise: Be careful when adding the charcoal, it's easy to add too much. And you may want to experiment with different fibers, some may be a better binding material than others. And also, use lower heat and melt the pitch slower, don't make it boil. This was, as I said, my first go in this but I've learned from my mistakes and I hope you will too. Thak you for watching
Great video, thank you very much. I will attempt to make some glue like this from the pitch I gathered up today while hiking, probably in the next week or so! If you like, check by my channel to see it!
I found 3 pine trees about a block away from my house owned by the city sitting on the side of the road. I noticed white hard clusters on the tree and knew it was pine sap. Wow, hardest stuff EVER to get off my blade and my hands. The trick is, let peanut butter sit where you have pine sap for a minute or too. The fatty oils cut it away very fast... However it was harder on the knife still than skin.
So, why exactly is it that rabbit shit, and charcoal, mixed with pine pitch, is better than - well, just pine pitch? There seems to important information missing here... ;D
@theanvilcracks If you watch the whole video you will see that I have explained it at the end. If that doesen't answer your question, read the comments on this video. I hope that helps
@theanvilcracks when my people made this and put it on horses rump it was an almost indelible dye sowhen anybody walked up and their hand matched the impression on the horses rup they walked away with the horse no questions asked
@dead2master you need to use charcoal, but instead of rabbit droppings you can use anything fibrous, like powdered saw dust, anything like that. the reason you can use it is the fibers in the droppings, they're easy to find too, so it's simpler to just use them, just to tell you, unless they're fresh, they don't smell bad, they weirdly feel like softer corn pops.
@flamedrag18 ok because i raise rabbits so its easy for me too get them and if anyone needs ANY rabbit droppings Drop me a line at dead2master@yahoo.com
@altaiti That's cool! I'm planning to make some arrowheads using a method called "knapping". It will be interesting to see how it turns out. Good luck in your work too!
@daboss11111 I'm glad you liked it! I think the droppings are colorful because I found it in an area with lots of different berries. Like for instance, blueberries. With or without color, it doesn't matter. The fibers are the same :)
nobody cares!!!!! we can just walk out to the store n buy some

this might sound weird but can you use goat droppings?
outdoorsg33k 3 weeks ago
@outdoorsg33k I haven't tried that to be honest, but anything that eats grass atc. (fiber-materiel) should work. Tell me how it goes!

we will probably end up living like this again when the world economy collapses. So if you have pine trees you can sell the pitch for glue
blakespower 1 month ago
Fire was to hot. Caramelizing breaks down the pitch and the end product will be weaker
newby1627 1 month ago
Do you know why rabbit droppings are used?
newby1627 1 month ago
That's awesome! What is the strength of that glue?

dryer lint works just as good as rabbit droppings and are easier to obtian from yur house
Halstevers 3 months ago
you arent suppost to let it boil. it breaks down the bonds that make the pitch strong when its cool. great vid tho!

@BombMastre Rabbit droppings aren't necessary just charcoal will do the job just as well.

The other materials temper the brittle pitch to a softer, more forgiving material less likely to fracture.

Is there anything you can subsitute for rabbit droppings?
ghostluvr26 10 months ago
You have to use charcoal other wise the glue won't be strong but you can use dried grass instead of rabbit crap (make sure grass is really dry)
