Baseball is an event, not an artifact or means of dynasty or culture. Altering the art of the Hanafuda cards is like drawing a mustache on the Mona Lisa.
@toasty100, so you do get my point now, don't you. If someone actually draw a moustache on the Mona Lisa, it would truly be dephiled and disgraced.
Hanafuda wasn't really meant for children anyway, not when it was originally designed back hundreds of years ago. Hanafuda does have a truly dark sinister past.
@HanafudaMASTER Nintendo is trying to show everybody their roots as a card company. After over 120 years of printing Hanafuda decks, I think they are allowed to print their own customized decks. It gets people interested in the culture and may want to buy a legitimate deck.
These cards are a facsimile, if Nintendo were to get a deck of ancient cards and actually draw over them, that would be defacing them. Not reprinting your owndeck. Just for you I'd hang a reprint of a mustachioed Mona Lisa.
It's sinister that it's designed for gambling? That's why most card games exist, so I don't imagine it's any more sinister than, say, the origin of the Tarot deck. I do think the Mario characters are a bit of an eyesore and cheapen the experience a bit, but if it gets someone into Hanafuda, then so be it.
Besides, I think the fact that the design of the Hanafadu deck looks incredible is more coincidence than anything. The Japanese put that kind of artistry into EVERYTHING.
They're a great collectible. Are they fun to play with...?
There's kind of a learning curve to it, you'll spend time learning the different cards, which set they belong too, and then having a friend learn it too.
That being said, if you just want instant fun, the Poker-style cards are probably better.
I'm not really sure WHAT I want. I mean I want something interesting and fun, but I don't want to be disappointed for spending a lot of points on something I didn't think I would want in the first place. .
Well I heard that the game and watch is a big disapointment (playing a lcd game on a ds, they should have revamped it with ds controls), the only prizes I got were ds pouch (can fit a dsi, but it's a snug fit) and just now ordered mario party playing cards.
hmm you posted this comment 2 months ago lol well I imagine you have the Mario Party playing cards by now... so I was just wondering what are your thoughts on the Mario Party playing cards are they worth it?
lol actually I was posting a reply to a comment on your vid Idk why it didn't show it as a reply to the person but my last comment was a reply to mariods91
oh and I acheived Elite status and chose Mario hat as well... it seemed like the only choice that made sense I mean who wants a ONE MATCH GAME with doc ...really I mean that sounds like it would have no replay value whatsoever lol

By the way,
You know, you can play Hanafuda on-line through GameDesign. Just google: Hanafuda Flash

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Nintendo is defiling the natural beauty and authenticity of the original Hanafuda cards, putting Mario and other modern images on the cards.
That's such a blasphemy. So disrespectful for such a distinguished artifact of Japanese culture.
HanafudaMASTER 2 years ago
@HanafudaMASTER calm down, they're just a game. Thats like saying its disrespectful to Americans that they made a Mario Baseball game

How much are you willing to sell just the card featuring Luigi?
DeFlack 2 years ago
just google and you'll find several places to buy a deck like that
majamyra 2 years ago
you can't buy one card. That would be like saying you want to buy the 9 of hearts from an american playing card deck.

Alot. If you ever look at my videos, you can see that I am obviously a collector, and that isn't even half of my collection.
So, registering games for prizes wasn't hard.
