I haven't used any yet, but there are portable electronic vaporizers that would probably be more ideal for you, if you are willing to pay more.
@TheStonerpreneur thanks i got the vg bat and i think it works well. i noticed is that theres a really big difference between this n combustion smoking cuz when u put the flame directly on ur weed it completely destroys n all thats left is a little ash. with this even when it does get super hot it just gets black but remains completely there. i do pull huge clouds n i get my weed a nice chocolate brown n i dont recomend getting it black, but i do recomend getting lots of clouds from one bowl

Buddy bought me this pipe for my B-day, nice gesture, horrible pipe.
Guys, save your money and buy something better, electric heating is better for you, yes, this has a ceramic filter, but the filter has air holes around it and your still sucking in burning butane. Thats not vapor... PLUS, half the time I cant get the "smokeables" underneath to heat up to vapor levels.

@twitch01 Yeah, it's a pretty intuitive process once you get used to it, but you have to have patience when you first start using it. Not very stoner-friendly, I know. Admittedly, this isn't the best tutorial, either.
@SupremeJive Depends on the person's tolerance, but me personally, I only tend to need 1 bowl or less because I have a low tolerance. (It takes so long to use the thing and I have ridiculous A.D.D. even before smoking, so I often forget I am smoking after 2 hits and come back to half-vaped bowl later, so I don't smoke nearly as much as I would if I had a regular pipe. Thus the low tolerance.)

It will not smoke out the top. It will only ruin the ceramic filter if the flame touches it. You can avoid burning by inhaling harder when the air coming through gets too warm. Chances are if you pay attention & make sure to observe the taste, you won't cause any real damage & you'll probably master it by the 20th bowl, anyway. Hope that helps. :)
Your usual electric vaporizer runs you about $400 tops, and you can get one that will go above and beyond getting the job done for less than $300. I don't disagree that the Vapor Genie is an excellent and affordable product, after only using it once I would definitely recommend it to anyone and intend on purchasing one for myself, just saying the 500 dollars to 1 grand figure is quite exaggreated.

nope, it just needs to be cleaned every four months or so cuz the filter will get clogged with soot from the lighter, but all you have to do is burn it off with a jet lighter and thats it. no parts need to be replaced except for maybe the screen.
i read yo ucan inhale flint dust which is toxic... how can you avoid this ? lignite lighter and let it burn for a few seconds before moving it to the vaporizer ?
ya that probably would work, you probly wont notice it that much but they suggest you use a electric butain lighter, or anything without flint, but its not as big of a deal as they make it
I have heard from friends that use the iolite that it does not work very well compared to the VaporGenie. They say the hits are too light because it doesn't heat up hot enough to be very effective. But I've never tried one myself :P
Do you think that a vaporizer will still affect my cardio? Because I play alot of sports and when I smok my bong my cardio goes down. With getting a vapor genie affect my cardio at all?
If you use it 100% correctly (which is impossible) your cardio will go back to as if you've never smoked at all, eventually.
However, it is pretty hard to *always* use the device without burning your shit, but your lungs are exposed to a significantly lower amount of carcinogens and is therefore highly superior to a bong or traditional pipe. (Sorry for the long-winded response.)

It shouldn't affect you too much, but every morning before I go to the gym, if I hit my pipe I am really really certain not to burn it because I have had shitty gym sessions because of burning it. At night I am not too careful; once I sleep on it, I can go to the gym and be fine.
Yeah but it requires patience and attention. In theory, I know how long and hard to hit it to get it 'just right' but you really have to pay attention when you switch lighters and when I need the *tobacky* most, I don't really have the patience that it takes to not burn it. The longer I use it maybe I will be more patient more often. I'm planning on getting a volcano in the next few months though.

I think on the older models it was a lot easier. On the old one my ex-girlfriend had it wasn't a problem to breath in without the mouth piece but on the new one I bought just recently the hole is so big that breathing through it is like sucking a vacuum cleaners nozzle!
That's the thing. The bowls are smaller, so you have to pack them more often and redistribute the stuff...so it takes a long time but theoretically, you are absorbing more of the THC you are vaporizing, so you need less for the same effect. But I wouldn't know cause I only use tobacco ;) lulz

well ive become quite the vaper since i bought it :)
its much more efficient and the only thing is i heard they can give you sinus infections and i just recently got sick... :/
not sure if the two are related though.

Your usual electric vaporizer runs you about $400 tops, and you can get one that will go above and beyond getting the job done for less than $300. I don't disagree that the Vapor Genie is an excellent and affordable product, after only using it once I would definitely recommend it to anyone and intend on purchasing one for myself, just saying the 500 dollars to 1 grand figure is quite exaggreated.

it can, but it takes awhile to smoke an entire bowl, and if you have ADD, like i do, an hour could go by and you will have only hit half of it.

yup. that's the thing that sucks...it's kind of a waste of lighter fluid. Plus the lighter gets super hot keeping it on for so long. So it does have its drawbacks.

i got a vapor genie and i love it i use it daily and the best thing is it dosnt leave a bad smell at all wether u use (tobacco) lmaoo!!!! reggies dros kush or purps and the goods taste fantastic...regarding if the screen is remotely new or not to resined up...(only gets resined if u have retarded friends puffin away wrong)

nope, it just needs to be cleaned every four months or so cuz the filter will get clogged with soot from the lighter, but all you have to do is burn it off with a jet lighter and thats it. no parts need to be replaced except for maybe the screen.

Yeah, I have had it for a year and not had to replace it yet. Since the stuff gets vaporized and not usually burnt, very little tar is produced.

i read yo ucan inhale flint dust which is toxic... how can you avoid this ? lignite lighter and let it burn for a few seconds before moving it to the vaporizer ?

No, the butane turns into carbon dioxide and water when it is burned, so that's all you are inhaling from it.

I have heard from friends that use the iolite that it does not work very well compared to the VaporGenie. They say the hits are too light because it doesn't heat up hot enough to be very effective. But I've never tried one myself :P

Do you think that a vaporizer will still affect my cardio? Because I play alot of sports and when I smok my bong my cardio goes down. With getting a vapor genie affect my cardio at all?

If you use it 100% correctly (which is impossible) your cardio will go back to as if you've never smoked at all, eventually.
However, it is pretty hard to *always* use the device without burning your shit, but your lungs are exposed to a significantly lower amount of carcinogens and is therefore highly superior to a bong or traditional pipe. (Sorry for the long-winded response.)

It shouldn't affect you too much, but every morning before I go to the gym, if I hit my pipe I am really really certain not to burn it because I have had shitty gym sessions because of burning it. At night I am not too careful; once I sleep on it, I can go to the gym and be fine.

Yeah but it requires patience and attention. In theory, I know how long and hard to hit it to get it 'just right' but you really have to pay attention when you switch lighters and when I need the *tobacky* most, I don't really have the patience that it takes to not burn it. The longer I use it maybe I will be more patient more often. I'm planning on getting a volcano in the next few months though.

Works great for me..I get about 6-8 Hits per bowl Huge vapor clouds and the "herb: is still brownish green demonstrating its vapor not smoke..It Just takes time to get the method down Once you do its pretty simple to use the vg without Burning your shit & and it will help if you take the mouthpiece off... Vape on :)

I tried it without the mouthpiece and it was completely ineffective in that it got too hot on my lips before it would emit any vapors.

I think on the older models it was a lot easier. On the old one my ex-girlfriend had it wasn't a problem to breath in without the mouth piece but on the new one I bought just recently the hole is so big that breathing through it is like sucking a vacuum cleaners nozzle!

That's the thing. The bowls are smaller, so you have to pack them more often and redistribute the stuff...so it takes a long time but theoretically, you are absorbing more of the THC you are vaporizing, so you need less for the same effect. But I wouldn't know cause I only use tobacco ;) lulz
