It has tends to be the case for the City Council to pull most of the listed buildings down and build new office space which then stands empty as is the case with the brand new office block built next to the "Butts College". It was opened in April 2010 and promptly closed May 2010 as the new Council realised there were insufficient funds to run it.
The council has done more damage to the Coventry skyline than the Luftwaffe did in the 2nd World War and yes I live in Cov.

ive been to cities like Barcalona, paris, Lyon, Dijon, Palma, Cork, Killarney, Manchester, London and live in Birmingham atm, but i can say as a born and bred Coventry Lad that Coventry is still a good city. I am still busy reading placards under bridges that speak of its twining with a certain former Soveit Union city. This makes me curious, and I'll certainly walk around to learn more about this fascinating place. Thanks.

Thank crist i got out of Kosoventry, what a toilet. Was ok in the 80's, now just a slum town, with the roads crammed with those cheap, horrible little peugeot cars, awful.

To be honest if people are going to slate where they live so much then please feel free to move to another city!! if it is that bad then leave, why waste your time commenting on youtube videos of the city when you can be packing your things and leaving! Yes the city has it's bad parts but what place doesn't? I think many of you need to grow up and realise it is our home and stop thinking about the bad things, writing on this isn't gonna make it any better!

Now i'm from Coventry. My entire family tree (as far back as we know about) was born and bred in Coventry. In the past 100 years, only one person in my family has left Coventry to live somewhere else. I hate to admit that yes, Coventry has become an unpleasant place, but we adapt to our surroundings and get on with it.
So i'm terribly sorry if our community isn't a high enough standard for you, but if that's the case, on behalf of the people here, you can fuck off back to Buckinghamshire.

I'm from the U.S. I lived on Ball Hill in the mid 80's. Some areas were not so nice, others were great. It just goes to show that you can find what you want. Look for the bad, you'll find it; look for the good you'll find it also.

ive been to cities like Barcalona, paris, Lyon, Dijon, Palma, Cork, Killarney, Manchester, London and live in Birmingham atm, but i can say as a born and bred Coventry Lad that Coventry is still a good city. It is unfortunately made up of concrete structures that don't do it's reputation well, but if you get to know the city, and take the time to know the people, which i have over the years it is truly brilliant. Coventry is what it is now bcos of the War (its looks) & stereotypes (not racist)

I found that young people 21 and under dont really understand the world enough to se it clearly. Coventry is a good place to be better than birmingham or Manchester. When ppl say its a shit hole thats coz they grew up on the council estates and dont now any better. They have no intentons of having a better life in Coventry coz they dont like that area they ruin the rest of the citys image for other ppl.

It's dull. It's lifeless. It's boring. It's - as has been said by watchsm - racist. Many of the people in it don't want to be there and therefore make no attempt at making it any nicer!
Coventry is OK for the occasional time, and I do feel ''happy'' there when I visit - but that's because I know my way around. I'd probably say more comfortable than happy, actually. Cov's like old socks - full of holes and not the nicest things in the world!!

Coventry Isn't a bad City. I was born and grew up here. In this City we have people from all over the world Students from Japan and America. People with families coming to settle its not a bad place to be.We are NOT RACIST Ok so a few areas are bad but that is because those people have no respect for anyone or the city and people like that are in everywhere in the world.
There is a history that most people forget i'm proud of Coventry its a shame that other people born and raised here are not.

Its a good City. I think some people on here need to open their eyes and look at the bigger picture.
We are 30 Minutes on the train from B'ham, yet thats not to say that most of the stuff you can do in B'ham you can do here.
Of couse there are some areas of the city that are rough, but you will find that with any citiy in the world, its just because of the size of the city it seems more widespread.

Coventry, ah! Coventry! I've recently (4 weeks ago) relocated from London and to be quite honest, nothwithstanding my limited stay in the city, I find it to be a charming place to live. I can concur with the 'city of peace and reconciliation' part the narrator of video mentions. I am still busy reading placards under bridges that speak of its twining with a certain former Soveit Union city. This makes me curious, and I'll certainly walk around to learn more about this fascinating place. Thanks.

but lets be honest, coventrys own powers that be finished off most of what the Nazis missed, during the 'restoration' of the city which was an abomination, and it never fully recovered
apart from that, come to see the medieval spires, streets and history, and the cathedral too
