Yeah, that is part of the reason that makes this move good for begginners. I still have a lot of trouble not dropping the cards on more advanced moves like Sean and Scott's Five Alive. You should be able to get this w/ some practice. Just focus on keeping pressure on the ends of the cards as you go through the motions, especially the hard parts like the rotation.
I don't know what people are griping about... I thought it was a nice, easy to follow tutorial. I had to pause and go back a few times, but its got a lot to it. The only thing I don't like is that it isn't false, but like you said, its a flourish, not magic. Very pretty, glad to have it in my repertoire!
sorry man i must be like all the other people that don't get it, it just appears to me that your justification and ideals are flawed just trying to do my part problem is everybody thinks their variations are so f'ing superior and need explination and I see a lot of really great magicians be tossed by the way side
Not Really. Chris Kenner's Book teaches the original Sybil and the 5 faces of Sybil. Neither of which is anything like this cut.
I actually named the cut Sybil Simple, joking about all the people who don't flourish who think all two handed cuts are the same and call everything a sybil.
I cant get the part where the top packet (the one between the thumb and forefinger) comes over the top and behind the other one. I think its cause my hands are too small. :(
If so, definitely check out my Scissor Cut vid, and get that down first, becuase that's all the left really does, but it gives ppl trouble w/ small hands. Read the comments of that vid, I give tips on small hands.
also form the striaght line, and then do each hand seperate to practice. First the left then the right, then bring them together.
When you get better you can do them at the same time.
Well I have to do everything you do on the opposite hand, cause I can't do it starting with my left hand, so I start with my right. But I'll definitely check it out
Well technically I'm ambidextrous, but thats only with writing. I can't seem to get it even slightly with the deck starting in my left hand.
Its not that I need it mirrored, I understand the cut. Its just that I cant seem to get the uppermost packet over the top, it keeps getting stuck on the packet I'm trying to get it over.
If you are ambidextrous, you need to thank god and then practice till your fingers fall off.
What do you mean by "upper most packet" ?? Becuase the orginal top packet doesn't go over anything, if goes under the second packet And then does the spin.
I think you mean the packet in MY left hand.
That is the Scissor cut. Check out my video for it and read the comments for tips for small hands, let me know if that helps
Yeah thats what I'm saying, the upper most. Not in relation to the deck, but in relation to the floor, the one that ends up on top between your forefinger and thumb.
The actual rotation part is pretty easy. the packet is just in the perfect position on the thumb and finger that when it rolls around, the fingers don't roll off the edge. The kinda awkward part is putting that packet back down. You really have to kinda stretch your thumb down, try to get the bottom of the packets at the same position and just drop it on. Hope that helps.
No need to get vulgar dude. I really haven't had many complaints on my tutorials. Just let me know what part you're having trouble with and I'll help you out.
When I was 12 I took out Harry Lorayne's "the magic book" from the library. I learned a bit of Magic, but It was the Charlier cut, that really struck me as awesome. A bit later I actually saw the Knuckle cut on an episode of Star Trek the Next Generation, I didn't learn it then, but when I was about 24 I decided I was going to find that cut and learn it. I discovered the guys on the magic cafe and Handlordz, I picked up a few DVD's and Jerry's EoPCF and made some interweb friends.
I'm also right handed. If you are right handed you will want to do all of your two handed cuts with the deck in your left hand. The same as when you are dealing cards.
I really don't think this move will be any easier for you switching hands.
ive been watchin a ton of yer tutorials, lol today i learned a charlier and thumbcut n scissor cut, its addicting for some reason, yesterday i couldnt cut a deck with one hand, im tryin to do this one now n its tricky dude
omg this is hard.... i just learnt the scissors cut but when i try doing it here, i epic fail and my cards fall.
Just a comment, dont rate bad if there's no reason to. 5 stars. Good tut.

Thanks man, Yeah, I don't do false cuts, they cause the cards to wear unevenly. lol

huh,is in the 1:24 part
snit078 2 years ago
Okay. For that part, maybe I got too technical. All you want to do is form the triangle shape shown in the scene following 1:24.
Just bring your thumbs together, so the left thumb can take over that packet, then bring the top packet to the pinky.

Can you tell me where in the video the trouble is?

Are you left handed?
If you have video software to Mirror the video, I can email you the video.
If you are right handed you should really always start with the deck in your natural dealing position.

Wait, this is Sybil?
LennyDaMouse 4 years ago
No It's not even close,
Sybil and 5 faces of Sybil by Kenner and Tudor and much different.
It's become a bit of a joke to call all two handed cuts a sybil, that's why I named it that. And a lot of people complained about it.
