lol, and here I was thinking it was a John Lennon solo song at the end of "The Social Network". I guess there's still so many more Beatles songs to discover.
Beatles is the best band in the world for sure and in my opinion MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR is the second best album after stg peppers lonely hearts club band and all the other beatle's album are just unbelievable..
The Beatles invited Brian Jones to play the instrument...whatever it is...that makes this such a cool song. Jones might not have been able to compose songs but he could make a good song great. He did the same thing with the Stones.
Yo I' was born in 96' and the Beatles have been all I listened to since I was 11. No band will manage to attract listeners from all ages like these fine men here. Long live the Beatles!!

You know, not that it really matters, but I wanted to relive some fond memories, and came here... to hear this song. While listening, I read a few comments, and man, all this petty shit and griping is sad. People who want to bitch and snigger about whatever, while listening to this band have no concept about, well, surely not about the Beatles. Take some acid, sit back, listen to Imagine, and think. Don't turn something groovy into a bad trip. Or, do, if your that uninlightened.

@TheBeatlesGH I loathe comments like these. A "true fan" is someone who appreciates the band's music; there is and should be not be any distinction between a "true fan" and an implied "false fan." @polishgrl87...Dyna Donnie is wrong and YES you are right, it is Brian Jones founder of The Rolling Stones playing the oboe. You can verify this in wikipedia by searching 'Brian Jones' you'll find he was quite prolific when it came to the number of instruments he played. Dyna can't tell the difference between an oboe and a clavioline.
I just realized there is a high probability that Brian Epstein killed himself after hearing this song. Evidence: song released July 1967, Brian Epstein kills himself August 1967.
@snakerog Why wouldn't people start living more for real after listening to this song, Brian Ep included? It should encourage us all to count our blessings, be they material or not. If not, doesn't mean they're immaterial to life 'n living, and that is what counts!--no? Listen to Nina Simone, Ain't Got No, I Got... for contrast, or context. It's a good song too
@polishgrl87 No, that was John Lennon playing a Clavioline and some have reported to get that run of notes he rolled a orange up and down the keys. The Clavioline was an instrument from the late 40's from Selmer that had a tube powered amplifier and a keyboard unit with a knee lever for pitch changes. It was used on a number of songs, it was probably the second synthesizer the first being made by the Hammond company in the 30's. Google Clavioline for the whole run down on it.
maybe some people can't handle the thought of st john of lennon throwing a cheap racist/homophobic slur into a song as a dig at a friend, but anyone who has studied Lennon's life would well know that he could be a right crusty bastard. Doesn't diminish him in my eyes..just makes him more human and flawed. Plus, look at how hard guys rip on guys...sorry if this hurts someone's delicate sensiblities.
Although the evidence for this slur is all anecdotal, John can be heard bearing down hard on the title phrase during the fade-out, exactly as he would do if engaging in such an insult. Some have also claimed that this song was written about Epstein as a typically Lennonesque brand of harsh advice
Bob Spitz's biography The Beatles cites several sources claiming that, at the end of this song, John Lennon sings "Baby, you're a rich fag Jew," a reference to band manager Brian Epstein....
k, send me an email with your st address, major cross streets, a picture, and a list of your weak spots or hidden weapons! dead serious I am a man with alot of free time and alot of income so dare me
I will say it once more: No one is saying anywhere in the song FAG JEW. This is some goofy shit rumor that somehow took off, but seriously, there is no credence to it. On a side note, I wonder where the Beatles kept all thier money. I doubt a big brown bag would have held even a fraction of it.
I think he's saying youre a "rich MAN TOO". Not "FAG JEW". Seriously, listen to it. If you can really hear "FAG JEW", when he's plainly and obviously saying "MAN TOO", it's probably because that's what you want him to be saying. But what the fuck do I know, I'm not an expert on everything Beatles, everything music, everything pop culture or just everything in general like most of the intelligent, open-minded and mature people who spend thier lives on YouTube pointing out meaningless drivel.

A great, great song from a band that literally wrote hundreds of great, great songs. I can't think of another band in history that put out as many albums with absolutely zero songs that would qualify for the B-side of a 45. I can't think of another band that even comes close to The Beatles. The Social Network is a good movie, but this one song alone is better.

the cover looks so cheesy and those are CHEAP costumes!! bottom row: walrus head, monkey body top from left to right: chicken with elephant head, bunny chicken, chicken dinosaur
@emeraldstream It isn't surprising, get used to it. There will be alot of anti-semitism coming in the world now, as there was in the past, and it isn't surprising. Anytime you look at the top of the heap that is controlling the world right now (Banks, Corporations, Secretaries of Defense etc) 90% of the time there is a Jew at the forefront, and people are getting a little upset about it. Just ask Rumsfeld, or Bernanke, or Greenspan, or Silversteen, Finklestein, etc,etc,etc......
@JonnyCashmore It really depends on what you're looking for/where your focus is. Obama, Buffet, Gates, Trump, Winfrey all have the major money &/or power. None of them are Jewish. If yr looking to say AfrAmericans are the problem (they're not), u can find a way. If u say Asians r the prob(not), u can find proof. The mind sees what the heart seeks.
scan a room4 everything blue. now close yr eyes & report what's red: you'll hardly be able--bc u weren't looking 4 it, even though it was there.
@emeraldstream Winfrey? LOL. Race doesn't even exist. You can imagine how someone like myself who is more evolved than the rest of the world, really feels about the matter. All of you are capitalist fools, children at best. There is only one human race. But OTHER PEOPLE (sheep) will begin their anti-semitic shit soon. It's just the way animals work. Gates Buffet Trump? None of them own a bank...none of them have power.
@ohhawtdahm I heard the little snatch of it in the Yellow Submarine movie, and while unable to locate this in my dad's collection, I tracked it down later via the nets.
Nobody in my generation talks about this music, personally im glad movies like the social network and games like black ops are introducing my generation to truly great music, how else will they discover it?

@Sparkonetwo Didn't you read me saying how none of the people my age talk about the Beatles, half of them probably couldn't name more than one song.

@XmissfabulosfameX sad that you feel so negative. not all rich people are Jews, and not all Jews are rich.
Note that none of the beatles are Jews and they were all ridiculously rich. And they deserved it.

@XmissfabulosfameX sad that you feel so negative. not all rich people are Jews, and not all Jews are rich (most are not--gross misconception).
Note that none of the beatles are Jews and they were all ridiculously rich. And they deserved it.
