  • His singing is just a very bad imitation of Pavarotti, very bad technique!

  • truly much better than bieber =)))

  • He truly is a PRODIGY!!!! He can play almost every instrument, he can conduct, he can write music & he can sing too!!!!! He looks like an asshole though...

  • OMG

hes related to an actor, a conductor, and 1 more but i forgot

  • oh shit i didn't know alex could sing i thought he was just a composer

  • The boy is only 12 here! He is incredibly mature and composed for his age.

  • My heart!! Omg! This is so lovely! And what makes it even more special: On sunday my friends and I went to an open air theater and watched IC and just before the movie started a guy sang a couple of songs and guess what! He sang O sole mio! We went crazy!! ^^

  • i didnt know he sang.

  • Brovo great voice.

  • He was only 12 at the time of course, but for a 12-year-old he was pretty darn good!! I heard he's pretty full of himself now though... :/

  • @Hausisse

Actually he has been full of few younger instrumental soloist cause he has composed concerto for piano, cello and two violin by name Velesslavitsa just for reach of hands of minors. Just check out by name Velesslavitsa here YouTube and check out how welcome his work is by soloist.

  • A Mozart--violin and keyboard prodigy at five? A Karajan--piano prodigy at four? O, das wunder kin, is life and music repeating itself?

And music answered in a light-hearted swoon: "Always--why are you so surprised at the gifts I bring you all?".

  • Apparently according to his dad Peter Prior at this age He was an"abnoxous little git" you may not believe it but my dad dunked him in the duck pond next to his house in Berkshire.

  • OMG some of you people are such haters this kid sent shivers down my spine the best kid singer its beautifull

  • OMG!.. Shame on all of us, Russians... Didn't we have a better way to express our love to the Divina?

  • Good work for a 12 years old, even if I've seen better.

Definitely I find him a better singer than the composer he's now. Let's hope he improves with time (talking about composing skills).

  • oh woah, this is weird! definatly needs a bit of work though, but for a 12 year old...?

  • its supposed to sound like it does...his performance is practically perfect.

  • lol, ok. what do i no? ;p

  • This is so weird...

  • Omg... in 2:53 Is lithuanian actress Ingeborga Dapkunaite, she so lovely! I love meryl, omg... she's so beautiful!

  • My sister LOVES Meryl Streep SOOOO Much. Check Out Her Stardoll Page, Mamma-Mia-2009

  • He has an amazing voice!

This is better than a stupid Hannah Montana song anyday!

  • true true

  • Este miudo vai longe!Bela voz!

  • OMG he can sing too? God...this young man can do lots of things!!!

  • he truly is multi-talented albeit a bit arrogant. but as a kid myself i can safely say that it we do like to be proud of what we have. And he has a lot to be proud of.

  • fair enough he writes good music ut it doesn't make up for the fact he is an arogent cunt!

  • Alex Prior can be a bit of a prick, but is undeniably an amazing talent.

  • just readin these last few comments half of you's are a bunch of wankers you's have got 2 remember they are just kids including alex and the talent they show is unbeleivable! can i ask what all you's were doin from 10 - 15 years of age nothing anywhere near as close to what they are doin im asuming

  • @norwoodTPM But what about the children who don't have rich parents? Who pay for the lessons? The tutors? The instruments? It's suprising that all the child prodigys come from richs backgrounds?

John Lennon came from a poor background, and his music is what millions of people can relate to. Classical music.. Meh.. It doesn't do the same.

  • @TheStalec i dont really know what your trying to prove but i responded to other peoples comments slating a group of children for what reason, i dont know! if some one has a talent then they have a talent regardless of how much money they have! not every rich kid who picks up an instrument is going to be good with it!

  • @TheStalec Or you might just be retarded.

  • @norwoodTPM True I wasn't singing for Meryl Streep. But neither was I murdering this beautiful song by screaming it out with no regard for my voice. Result? I'm now training to be a professional singer and Alex Pryor is now known as an arrogant wanker after his appearance on Channel 4.

  • he's better than you!

  • i have seen this programme on channel 4 and i feel in a way...sorry for the prodigies on it.

i too play a musical instrument, but in some ways, i'm glad i'm not a prodigy because since i started a lot later than most, i had a life. time to be a real child. do childish things etc. then i was given the choice to play an instrument and i took it, at the right age. the kids on the show....don't have anything else. without their instruments, they would be nothing and the same goes to alex prior.

  • The Kids have everything. Look at them, they are happy, normal kids - just amazing musicians also.

  • I agree, feeling sorry for them is really a way of not feeling sorry for oneself for not being as smart as those kids.

  • Gosh, what a prick, that woman, dropping to her knees just because she heard a few high notes. And at her age. Movies stars all so phony. I hate her accents in her moives and her acting is so studied.

  • Hahahahahaha. My god, you fools. You idiots deserve your Alex Priors. Such a shame that it IS now possible to buy a classical musical career. If he comes to the RAM (as I have heard) I will forcibly extract his teeth.

  • real shame he's the world's greatest musical dickhead

  • What is music nowadays? Mozart was the original prodigy. The rest are all fakes.Born into a musical family, taught how to play and think in musical terms and phrases. What is so special about that?Music is so easy to make when you've got the resources. It is the hype that creates these creatures. Music has nothing to do with intelligence. It just is. Anyone can make it.Next time listen to a bird singing.THAT is REAL music. The most natural one.

  • Actually, Mozart was not born a prodigy, he was just able to learn and pick up knowledge faster than other people.

And to create classical music, yes it's alot harder, you have to be intelligent!

  • er...what?

  • Haha, I watched it too, He does seem up his own arse. But with Singing, Composing and playing instruments better than most people, then combining all three together, you would be cocky!

  • that guy is a fucking prick! i just watched is stupid programme.

  • I must agree his attitude stinks in his programme! Who's idea was it to let him do it?!

  • Wooow, meryl loooks very very honored :D xx

  • no its not x

  • I heard she blew him afterwards in his dressing room.

  • hahahahaha i just fell off my chair

  • You're quite correct. But did you know he later tried to sue her for loss of earnings - claiming the 'suction' caused his testicles to drop.

  • LOL!!!

  • you could tell that meryl was honored

  • i'm completely gob-smacked by that boys voice. i mean hell, i sure can't pull off anything like that.

but OMG, how i'd love to sing for Meryl Streep. but i need to have loadsa practice & singing lessons first. hahaha! =P

i love how she just goes on her knees for that little boy.

  • he went to my school and was in my year

    for about four years

  • That must have been interesting - I hear that he didn't have a great time.

People like Alex often struggle because being a genius is a very lonely thing as it sets you apart from the vast majority of people, and it can be very hard to connect - in a weird way it's a bit like a disability because gifted children often require special care that sets them apart from their peers.

  • Our school is full of geniuses. I'll admit that few have his ability with music but his "struggle" had less to do with his genius and more to do with the slight arrogance that appeared to have come with it.

  • Every private school has it's share of gifted children, but geniuses are very rare - Alex wouldn't have been singled out as he has if he was "typical" of your school, and he wouldn't have moved either. Many geniuses find mainstream school impossible, and often have poor social skills as a result: the arrogance stems from an inability to relate to people who are unlike him, and failure to understand that people are not stupid for struggling with things that come so easily to him.

  • I know people who can multiply 4 digit numbers in their head, but they don't go around being rude and threatening to sue everyone.

However, to be fair, I only knew him when he was younger. He's probably grown up since then.

  • Amateurdramatics I hardly consider being labeled as a 'genius', to the same extent of which one has a disability. How can you honestly compare the two? And your claim that 'Every private school has its share of gifted children' is ridiculous. If there does happen to be gifted private school pupils, its often because of the vast resources backing them, and their very select education, NOT a naturally born gift to reign supreme in certain academic subjects.

  • hi nin456, I agree with what you said about the gifted children. Music is a language. Like one learns a normal language, if one starts at an early age, one can learn the music language with its characteristic writing style and its sound. Only natural thing to be. But, chances are that it gets very difficult as one's age progresses. Like I said, nowadays it is the "HYPE" that matters.

  • ive not found that to be true in my case

  • there's never an excuse for rude behaviour, and it's ironic that so-called genuises often have shockingly poor social skills!

  • I think he was more interested in the crowds reaction than hers.. and yet it was meant to be sung for her... I didn't like the lower range of his voice but he was alright.

  • Good acting on her part...

  • she is just so in awe of his voice..i love when she just drops to her knees.

  • A phenomenon. For sure. Love him. Enough said.

  • Questo e stato un soprendente rendimento!

  • caraca, o garotinho pra presidente O_o a Meryl ajoelhou pra ele!

ow, eu amo a Meryl ♥

  • oh if i could sing as well as him i would sing my heart out for you too, meryl!! =D

  • I love it!!! BRAVO!!!

Does anyone know what he says in the beginning after, 'i have a present for you. it's a song... -' anyone know?

  • i think he is just introducing the name of the song, not sure..

  • It's a song, O Sole Mio, a Neapolitan song which I'll sing just for you.

  • He Said O Sole Mio!!

  • Beatifull, I sing it barely. Sorry my English.

  • he was lucky...hope to meet meryl, too..

    love her...im so jealous....

  • bellissimo!! evviva l'italiaaaa!!

  • Wondeful sound

I luv it & i luv meryl streep shez realy legend

  • I wish I could sing, so I could sing for Meryl.

    :( I LOVE YOOOOOOUUU!!!

  • my god that was so cute and meryl seemed was so touched..love her so much :o*

  • I Love Meryl streep !

  • it looks like she really wants to give him a big hug but his too stiff and nervous. hehe.

  • yeah I totaly agree with you^^

  • It is nice to watch someone sing with his heart. I loved the swinging arm.

  • wow hes soo gooood!!!

    meryl streep = amaazing = <3333

  • This kid, now over 15, now has like 40 music compositions that he has done.... including one for a play by Rudyard Kipling.

    Amazing.

  • Was this directed at me? I got a message saying somone responded to a comment of mine.

  • What he and the people who aplauds him don't seam to know is that history is full of kids who seam to be destinated to a great career, and then become perfect comun... or desapear. They are so aplauded that they forget to grow up, and learn! Is Charlote Church a great opera singer? How many oscars did Shirley Temple win? How long will his voice last, trying to sing like an adult man...? I hope I´m wrong about this boy...

  • He plays 4 other instruments and is a rising and talented orchestra composer, Pretty impressive for a young teen. I read that he quit singing since his voice changed, and doesn't miss it.

  • Well, so probably I was right about his way of singing... Don't get me wrong, he's obviously an extremely talented boy (although his compositions sound a little bit "oldfashion" to me, and I haven't seen a high level in any instrument he plays), and I hope to have news about his work in the next years. Good luck for him!

  • beautiful, amazing, fabulous !

  • GRANDEEEEEE , w italia, w meryl streep

  • extraordinary gifted boy...awesome

  • Fantastic!!! Magic!!!

  • That would be me. I have perfect listening pitch and Grade 8, so I know full well what I'm talking about. By your own admittion, "his pitch was on most of the time." - such as... 75% maybe? Being 12 is also very beneficial for him, as he will have a lot longer to better himself after that average performance.

  • No I think more than 75%. He scoops a lot, but he almost always gets to the right pitch - very good for a 12 year old. And I too have perfect pitch but I am also in college studying voice performance and have had lots of time to develop not only my singing skills but musical theory/aural skills as well. So I reaaly know what I am talking about.

  • Whoever said he was flat 25% of the time doesn't know what they are talking about. I have perfect pitch and can say his pitch was on most of the time. His technique is so adult like - it doesn't even sound like a "boy" voice. I think he will be one of the few who maintain's his quality past the change of voice.

  • What does it mean when a person's voice goes "flat?"

  • When one note is flatter than another that means it is lower. When someone says someone's voice is flat it means the note they are singing is slightly low. So basically it means out of tune.

  • Ok, so maybe he was a little flat here and there. I've heard boy altos/sopranos in big opera houses with more pitch problems. It's really a shame that after his voice changes he will have to learn an entirely different technique and may never sing this well again.

  • It won't matter. Alex has already written piano concertos and symphonies, including a ballet, performed by major orchestras. He is a prodigy. By his tone, I suspect he will be a fantastic baritone when his voice changes but he could maintain his tenor register with hard work.

  • 12 years old? holy sht

  • I don't know what ears with which you are listening, but he ain't flat. He is extraordinary.

  • He's flat at least 25% of the time. And the end sounded like a wasp pissing in a jam jar.

  • How about he was right on 75% of the time We should be caring to all our brothers and sisters. Signed: an old musician. Peace

  • EleniZeiva has disgusting language. There is no need to use those words. Very offensive.

  • Get a grip! It's the internet your talking about. You're the sort of person who brings around censorship. Pssht. Keep off youtube for christs sake. EleniZeiva was complimenting the video.

  • Вот это да !!! Паваротти наверно очарован Алексом там в небе. Браво. Имре, Венгрия

  • Wow...talent,soulful,spiritual,dynamic....sound. A real gifted.

  • Can any one tell me where to find the lyrics and the meaning of this beautiful song?

    Ashok ,Hyderabad, India

  • here you are some inform about this song

or search in wikipedia with phrase "o sole mio"

    en wikipedia org/wiki/'O_Sole_Mio

  • HOLY SHIT. He is fucking amazing. <33

I heard he was writing a ballet. And an opera.... but damn. That just blew me away.

  • man he has a mighty voice!

  • god she loved him

  • this woman is a genius. she`s amazing, sexy, lovely and the best actress ever.

  • he was wondeful Meryl was special i mean those twoa re so KAWAIIIIII

  • The kid is good...he supports his sound-is not shouty in that sense, understands phrasing. Now all of you who dump on him for not doing the above...shut the hell up.When his voice changes...he should do very little singing. Nice high E at the end-clear and supported.Take it slow though.Better teeth than Billy Gilman.

  • Can somebody tape his left arm to his side so he'll stop waving it around? :P

  • wow how does he not like collapse?

  • Isn't Meryl just the cutest?

Kneeing down in front of that boy ...

    Wow!

  • billy gilman is better... this kid is uhhh... different?

  • billy gilman is a dam soprano singer, at least a couple years ago... And alex prior is in fact a tenor, which is so different from sopranos.

  • lol

  • Alex Prior where alto when he sang this

  • This music makes me weak! My gosh he is amazing and so are Mery Louise Streep!

  • He's good I suppose, but he's kinda just like an extra-annoying shouty tenor. Male countertenors are better. Yes, yes, his age has to be accounted for, but don't get the damn children to sing. Search for some boy altos singing Bach, they're so much better.

  • WOW it was amazing, bravo bravo to alex I just can image he is 12 years old at the time he sang o solo mio.

  • The thing is...at his age, he should be a boy soprano. He is pushing on those high notes, which is he is going flat. It may sound pleasant, but if he continues to sing that way, his voice will be damaged.

The male voice is not done developing until the age of 35. What he is doing will cause his voice to develop too quickly and it will ultimately be "underdeveloped".

  • Meryl Streep is an actress, and she acted. Alex should not have tried to belt that last phrase - it ruined everything that went before it. He'll try that one too many times, and we'll see if THAT makes it to YouTube. Other than the last phrase, he was powerful - yes, he'll be a great singer-crooner later in life after the nodules are removed.

  • Meryl Streep is an actress, the best there is and she certainly didn't acted here.

  • well said =D

  • bravisimo!!!

  • by the way he is remarkable awesome composer too

    here you are: www.alexprior.co.uk

  • Bravissimi! The second verse is not one I'm familiar with, but it was still beautiful. I couldn't believe it when he hit that third to last note... and to think the kid probably hasn't even hit puberty yet...

  • I've heard Pavarotti, and he's not Pavarotti.

  • spectacular!

  • Alex Prior - the greatest voice there is. Forever.

  • almost ?! hhmm.. I just moved to tears cause so powerfull touching his voice-tone and -color and phrasing...

    so awesome anyway 8-)

  • Omg :O , I'm almost crying xD , Haha :b , but i don't know why xD

  • The little heartbeaker, he already has so much loving passion in him, as a dozen ordinary grown man. His performance brought tearful joys in both men's and women's eyes. One or two tiny mistakes only. (slipages)

  • wow it's been a while since i last saw this.. but OMG he's really good.. aww and meryl is so sweet :)

  • Yes, it was a Stanislavskiy Award "I beleive" which were very famous words by Stanislavskiy . He used to say it when he thought the actors were great!

(this line I quote from Elena Prior, Alex mother)

  • June 2004 - at the Award Ceremony of Moscow International Film Festival, giving Stanislavskiy Award to Meryl Streep

that is the award for maybe commonly her work at all

  • OMFG! O_O; I was like, sitting like this O_O; He's damn good. Seriously. Wow.

  • He was AMAZING. Wow. I was sitting her with my mouth wide open.

What was Meryl getting an award for?

  • Even more he is one a most awesome composer.

    www.alexprior.co.uk

look out list for his composition !!!

already Requiem he did: for victim of Beslan year 2004

    www.alexprior.co.uk/compositions.htm

pleace support his great work and order some of those

  • wait till he is in his prime at 40, what a voice it will be.

  • oh he is so good

  • WOW I WOULD SO GET DOWN ON MY KNEES TO HIM TOO! His voice is amazing! Meryl is so funny in that!
