Luka. I have been a Christian for most of my life and have worked as a peace officer in a major metropolis for 18 years. I have see criminals of every race, color, creed and religion. What I have not seen are d&d players sacrificing babies to Satan, though I have seen fanatical Christians beat and in one case kill their children because "God told them to". D&D is what you make of it. If you play a paladin and your DM is a good one, any one of the things Luka2234 mentioned wouldnt be permited without an alignment change and or a shift to a fallen paladin. 4-5 of my Gaming group are Roman Catholic including myself and play as Christians not Sadist. I used to play until I began realizing that the people around me were dishonest, ungodly, and perverted. Killing babies and violating their corpses, impaling priests, and torture were all met with encouragement. It ended up being a bunch of backstabbing, talking behind each other's backs and ungodly acts that led me to rethink my priorities.

@ProgramG If you spare the rod, you'll end up spoiling the child. As for the stoning thing, it never says that explicitly. Put to death does not mean stoning only. Also remember, their calendar is different than the Gregorian calendar used by Western societies. It says the 7th day, but ancient Middle Eastern calendars are not the same as the Gregorian calendar. Exodus 35:2, by the way. The law also only applied to the Jews and their Sabbath was on Saturday.
@Luka2234 To answer the soldiers question, II Kings 11:5-9 indicates Jewish soldiers always worked Sabbath, since GOD used them to convert others, conquer and/or expand Jewish lands.

@Luka2234 The bible was written by men. it is, to be blunt, nothing more than a series of stories pretty much excactly like Snorre's "Saga of the Kings" and "Edda." The only difference is, the bible tells stories from a desert people's point of view, while Edda and the Sagas tell stories from a Scandinavian point of view. That said, Edda and the Saga are far more interesting, as you can actually find PROOF the tells the stories are true.

I think your friends were screwed up to start with. They could have told stories about saving babies and priest but they didn't want to. Role playing games basically just provide a rules set. D&D is what you make of it. If you play a paladin and your DM is a good one, any one of the things Luka2234 mentioned wouldnt be permited without an alignment change and or a shift to a fallen paladin. 4-5 of my Gaming group are Roman Catholic including myself and play as Christians not Sadist. I used to play until I began realizing that the people around me were dishonest, ungodly, and perverted. Killing babies and violating their corpses, impaling priests, and torture were all met with encouragement. It ended up being a bunch of backstabbing, talking behind each other's backs and ungodly acts that led me to rethink my priorities.

The ancient Chinese five elements (like the four, but with wood and metal instead of air) form this graph with their interrelations of destruction and creation, look it up. Also remember, their calendar is different than the Gregorian calendar used by Western societies. It says the 7th day, but ancient Middle Eastern calendars are not the same as the Gregorian calendar. Exodus 35:2, by the way. The law also only applied to the Jews and their Sabbath was on Saturday.

@Luka2234 The bible was written by men. it is, to be blunt, nothing more than a series of stories pretty much excactly like Snorre's "Saga of the Kings" and "Edda." The only difference is, the bible tells stories from a desert people's point of view, while Edda and the Sagas tell stories from a Scandinavian point of view. That said, Edda and the Saga are far more interesting, as you can actually find PROOF the tells the stories are true.
