Texassince1836- You must live in the Panhandle of Texas because in Houston or anywhere near South East Texas all we know is rust. Everything rots down here from the sweltering humidity and from the corrosive pine tree needles.
@Low760 I worked on a 1947 chevy and it didn't have a single rust hole @ 77,000 miles. It had surface rust, but that's all. I could have scrubbed the car off with a brillo and put primer down. Things may be different where you are, because cars don't rust in texas....and so far as the 30 year old unrusty cars go, all I have to say is plastic doesn't rust
@scfd5232 a 5000lb car(boat) with an 80 hprsepower straight 6 with a 1 barrell carb run off of rigid mechanical linkage. And a three speed manual...if your accelerator stuck you'd be carried away at 65 mph....except, you could depress the clutch or ifyou reached down and pulled the pedal up it would close the throttle since they used steel rods back then, not steel cable

@Texassince1836 Thats why they rusted within 20 years and cars that are 30 years old now aren't rusty?

I'll bet the smelt fisherman's Chevy smelled worse than Seinfeld's BMW ! Great period piece - thanks for sharing.

Probably 1936, not 1938 since the newest cars are 1936 model year.
