  • @muskiegod1. Have you ever fished the French River or Lake Nippising for muskies? I'm heading up there this summer for a week and would love to hook into one. Any advice as far as equipment and stuff? I've messed around at Pyma with spinning gear and raised a massive Ski on a black musky killer bucktail but missed him at boatside. I wish I had more time to muskie fish.

  • For sure, in fact fly fishing for muskies is not that popular. That is a good thing, the fish are not conditioned to that type of presentation. I bet that would produce some nice muskies. If I had time to mess around with that type of fishing for muskies I would be all for it. Good luck for the year 2011 in all your fishing.

  • I've got a question for you i am from denmark and i do know that the european pike that i fish for is similar to the muskie but i were wondering if it is possible to catch muskies on fly as i do with the pike.

  • whats the biggest muskie you ever caught

  • dude teeeaach me, but really I loved that video, you've caught so many nice looking fish. Makes me want go musky fishing so bad, but the ice is creeping out from the landings now, I'll have to wait till next season. Have you ever hit up lake of the woods by any chance? We have some pretty wicked muskie fishing. I wish I could have gotten out more this fall and caught some fattys. Taker easy man

  • have u tried in the grand river yet?

  • @Palumbo134 No I never got around to doing that. With a family and work I don't get out but once or twice a week for a couple of hours. I fished Westbranch yesterday and put a 38" in the boat and lost 2 others.

  • Hey muskygod. Been tryin for two months now, and still nothing. My son had one on last week at Leesville but lost it. Then I take my fishing buddy and he nails a 38 incher within the first half hour right after he was bitchin that he was bored and was thinkin about switchin to a bass bait! I guess when I do get my first, I'll have EARNED it. Any suggestions?

  • @dustman1995Leesville is one of the top lakes in OH. Fat healthy fish. I did a lot of night fishing in the summer years ago; very productive. I have not been down there for a long time. I fish West Branch and have very productive every year for the last 12 years. I know when they start to drain Leesville right around Thanksgiving, those fish turn on, and turn on hard for about 1 week. I use to run bigger baits like 9" ernies, 8" hookers, depth raiders. I'm heading to Westbranch right now.

  • Its amazing how regular muskie seem so much bigger that tigar muskie,,,The ones I get are thin heads compared to these,, well I see some the same,, are you fishing both tigar and regular,,, fun shit,, wish I had time to fish this much. I just started fishing muskie 3 years ago,, this year was awsome on Orchard Lake MN Peace

  • @KidsKicksforChrist Thanks for commenting. I have been fishing for muskies about 15yrs. I don't fish that much anymore, about twice a week if that. I will have to say 2010 has been my best year so far, I have 78 fish in the boat with an average of a fish every 1.75 hrs. Ohio has some great musky fishing in it.

  • WOW the gator head shot at 4:31! Dang MG1, you have a ton... well more than a ton of great muskies!

  • @headinjuredkeeper , Thanks, I mainly fish in Ohio anymore. Still great fishing here. So far this year my boat is up to 75 muskies in it; can't say much, I have been out less then 50 times. On average a fish about 1.5hrs of fishing.

  • @muskygod1 Cool! I am in Delaware county. I have only targeted musky once, over at Alum Creek which is becoming quite good according to my buddies.

  • Have you ever fished at Mullet Lake?

  • I see a lot of questions about lure types. The anwser to all of them, BIG BAIT/BIG LURE!

  • back in 79-80 we stayed at Marvs cabins on Leech Lake Minn. he had a 45 lb Pike on the wall. We fished several times with him during the week, he told us about a 100lb (approx) muskie he had hooked several times over the years, could never boat him,... he sensed I thought BS, said lad i know you dont believe me, but next time you guys go to the lodge, check out the bite-mark on that pike, we did, about 11" across, said he caught that pike around that same island he fished for mr big.

  • great catches. it's drowning pool though not disturbed

  • someone has specialized in catching musky. ive only caught one in my life and it wasnt huge... a cool story i was flipping a jig for bass and pike and as i was pulling the lure outta the water the fish leaped up and picked up my bait in mid airhis mouth full of teeth was under my feet .i let him take the bait and set the hook. anyways id love for u to give me any advice on musky fishing paterns color matching finding where they will be ... good lures anything really .... apreciated good fishin

  • Get an abu garcia C3 6500 size, a 7-7'6 shimano convergence muskie rod, fill it with 80 pound braided line, and a 100# test joe bucher brand leader. That's an excellent starting set up. To start a tackle box, get a top raider, a hawg wobbler, and one light (yellow/ orange) and one dark (red/black) showgirl bucktail. Throw them around weed edges from mid July through ice over. That'll get ya started, the rest you'll have to learn on your own. :) Good luck.

  • lol that was good whats ya best musky bait?

  • music goes so well with the video.... :s ??? why?

  • i was out fishing in park rapids and there was about a 45 or more cruising around 2 feet elow the surface getting a tan i guess lol

  • ya i know them stories u get a deep sea grouper fisher they show u whats up they catch 1000+ groupers or in bc fraiser river 1500+ pound white sturgon and that aint shit!!

  • Muskygod... Ever heard the name Chan Cotton or "Doc" Cotton, around the leech lake area?

  • very nice stuff hoping to catch me a musky this weekend in georgian bay

  • Great fish. I hear the St. Clair is becoming a great area to catch a few really big pigs. I fish in the Gananoque area. I'm more of a smallie and largemouth guy. Usually by October I'm bow hunting and don;t get out when the bite is really on for Musky. I did see where you caught some on the St. Lawrence. Should invite you down and you can reciprocate at your end of the province. Take Care and great fishing.

  • Great fish!

I was waiting for the "missed work one too many times" lol, sounds like me. Its hard to goto work the day after you raise a dozen and hook into several.

Beautiful Pig at the End! Awesome!

  • When you get a chance to come down to the Cave, we would be glad to have you. Let me know!

  • well lets see; I never said I was a steven spielberg. Let me guess; you been fishing for muskies for a short time and know everything there is to know about them. Young musky fisherman usually feel that way. I have almost 900 muskies under my belt and still have a lot to learn. And as it goes; St. Clair fish are easy to catch, no question about that. I've fished and had great success anywhere from Minnesota to New York and to Kentucky. I've been featured in Esox Magazine. Good fishing to you.

  • Shieet

  • @muskygod1 try fishing them in ontario

  • You got some nice fish but that's a really cheesy video and Muskis god? come on. Lake St. Clair fish are jokes too.

  • Now that are some serious fish!

    Great video!

  • Thanks, and yes I use to spend a lot of time on the water. Now-a-days with a family; I get out when I can and enjoy every minute of it. I can say that time on the water=fish!!! I'm happy catching any size of muskie when it happens. I know a lot about the fish; but with limited time to fish for them, hitting the right time is hard to do.

  • Yep, I know what you mean. I have two small kids myself. Time on the water is getting more and more precious. Nowadays I spend more time building baits than I actually fish them!

    ;)

    Grtz

  • I never got into building baits; but I know some people who does build baits. I love using new baits and leting people know how good their bait is. Let me know if you would be interested in selling some of your baits. I would love to try them out.

  • sounds like my life exactly

  • U catch some beauties. Happy for your dad's first. Its nice that u fish a lot of lake and you seem to have success in each of them. Even nicer is your CPR idea.

    Good job!
