  • ew. this is so embarrassing.

  • Support from Serbia for Student Power

  • There are real issues going on in the world, work WITH our school, not against it.

  • we will first establish our *rights* to democratic use of space, and then we will establish the specific ways in which those rights will be put into practice, institutions of democracy instead of authoritarian architecture through which space will be organized.

  • the building must be open to new york. the building must be open at all times with uncontrolled access to all of new york's teeming democracy, all of its ideas and all of its people. perhaps at some point in the future it will possible to set up democratic ways of regulating and organizing the use of the building. democracy is not chaos. but for the foreseeable future, because the NS is radically authoritarian in its administration of space, all doors must be removed from 65 5th ave.

  • we need one very specific, ambitious but achievable goal that will be stable (durable) and which will be a launching pad for further expansion of democratic education. we need one important step that we can actually achieve and from which we will not be pushed back.

Our goal should be this: since 65 fifth avenue is an undemocratic space, rigidly controlled through authoritarian design principles, we demand all doors be removed from the building. all doors, inside and out, off indefinitely.

  • focus on very specific strategy... occupying buildings leaves protesters very exposed and makes the action come off as symbolic.

This is a campaign for democratic educational institutions. the NS is authoritarian. It's about decisions at an institution-wide level, and especially about who gets to use what spaces. The NS depends on very rigid spatial control - authoritarian. This is a campaign about rights to the city, rights to a democratic educational space.

  • actually the masks were worn to protect people's identity because in past events the campus newspaper (Free Press) has quoted people without their permission or consent and tried to make leaders out of particular people who are not. This was to address that, not play pseudo-Zapatista imitators.

  • you're pseudo-douchebags at best

  • Tmdrdd, why don't you post your comment with your full name and SS number, COWARD. What are you an idiot? The groups responsible for these occupations is explicitly anti-authoritarian and covers their faces so they can unleash their desires without the police taking them away. It is a common sense measure that has been used for decades, and is in no way exclusive to clandestine armed struggle groups, but apparently you're too privileged and silly to know this. P.S., it's guerilla, fool.

  • They are clearly doing this in imitation of those same "clandestine armed struggle groups" in a feeble attempt to look scary and be taken seriously.

In the end, they look like poseurs.

Also, they are technically violating NYC anti-mask law, so they are risking a summons and having their info made public anyway.

PS-the gorilla typo was intentional :p

    But thanks for noticing.

  • Also, since we are correcting our grammar :)

"Tmdrdd, why don't you post your comment with your full name and SS number (? or ?!?)

Coward (!!!) What are you(?) An idiot?

The groups responsible for these occupations ARE explicitly anti-authoritarian and COVER their faces (etc., etc.)

...armed struggle groups(.) But apparently you're too (etc., etc.)"

    I pity da fool!!! :D

  • Who do they think they're trying to be with their balaclavas and faux gorilla get-up??

    The IRA??

    Shining Path??

    ETA??

    ELZN??

    The Symbionese Liberation Army??

    FARC???

    More like FARCE

A bunch of privileged, white, middle class wannabe revolutionaries playing dress-up.
