I also miss those days too , the Flying Bobs with the roof , flashing panel lights with the skiers , flashing overhead lights , front strobe lights or police bubble dome lights ,and the rock or pop music really make the Flying Bobs a classic ride .

This was and still is my favorite ride in the whole world. I prefer the ones with a roof and the himalaya theme with the classic 70's oil painted portraits of skiers displayed inside and outside the ride. I also remember the ride going real fast and the bobsleds swinging wildly and the loud rock & pop music. Aww, I miss those days.

@kamsavart Me too . Those were the days . Hope my county fair's carnival (Family Attractions) has their Music Fest set up .

I like this setup, I have been on the older flying bobs with the roof over it

@jvicker2 Yeah me too. And i use to LOVE when they made the Flying Bobs go BACKWARDS..OMFGG me and my sister use ride this ride and we use to wait in vain for the Bob's to roll backwards..aahh the good ol' 80's..LOL =)

A reason why carnivals are getting rid of this ride is because of the 7 hours it takes to put up, and the 2 trucks.

I rather see this ride stay around than it be gone for good, and those Himilayas take it's place. If doing this is going to condense the time from 7 hours to 4 or 5 hours, maybe carnivals wouldn't get rid of them. I would like to see how it looks at night. It has the lights on the poles instead of above the ride.

you simply can't replace flying bobs with Himalayas-- Himalayas are an inferior ride.. they may go up and come down faster..but they just cannot compare to the free -swinging fun of the bobs! our show used to set up (or tear down) everything else- then every one went to work on this ride

I really like these types of rides, and I do like the way this ride looks. However, I don't like the fact that a ride that could have a roof doesn't have a roof. The reason is during the heat of the day, and during rain.

This might have been done so they don't have to replace many of the scenery signs, not have to put up lights near the roof, and to not put up a roof itself, or to put it on one trailer.
