  • lead singer nice looking

  • its the men in Black!

  • Nice rap tune from the '80s!

  • @B304A124 Rap? haha...

  • @JoeAuriun What rapping part of this song--which was MOST of it--did you miss?

  • 1980's.... Great music, bad cars.

  • @Canam7 the best music! and some of the best cars ever built! the sierra cosworth the orignal bmw m3 ford granada mk2 2.8 injection peugeot 205 gti 1.9 opel manta gte escort rs 1600i/series 1 rs turbo ae86 corolla twin cam audi quattro series 1! i dont drive any thing built after 1990 as most cars built after 1990 are shit fact!

any one who;s into cars will agree with me!

  • @DB1410 Maybe in Europe, but not in the states. The only car you mentioned sold here was the M3. Great car but very expensive. Even today a good one is $12000 or more.

  • @Canam7 you can buy the bmw 325i e30 in the states which were made from 83 to 92 in saloon form and to 94 in touring/convertible these are a fantastic car and to most bmw fans its the best bmw you can buy except the m3! another car which was brilliant was mercedes w124/w126 these were very good cars and can last forever if maintained right! mercedes have even siad there cars are not as good a quality as they were back then and they are trying to get back to the high standards they had!

  • @DB1410 You left out the ford 2.3 I-4, mentioned many times as one of the best Inline 4 bangers ever. That engine graced the Ford Ranger, Escort, Topaz, SVO Turbo Mustang, Turbo T-bird, Pinto, CAT Generators, German Merkur XR4TI. That engine is still used by many racers today!

  • @Canam7 - not Japanese and German cars... they were good in the 1980s... SOME American cars, but few.

  • I always pictured driving on the countryside to this song

  • i was thought he was smooth & cool

  • were these guys gay? i cant remember...not that i care.

  • hey i'm 57 and a lieutenant general in the marine corp just cause you get old and hard doesnt mean you cant like the old stuff that was so much better then this new shit i'd piss on this little dope jitin neeber or however you spell it lol

  • THE UK = SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC/SINGERS/SONG WRITERS THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN...

  • just a question, what's with the guy that just sits there looking into oblivion? Found this video and was wondering this through the whole song.

  • I remember getting into a fight with my boyfriend at the time in the parking lot of a supermarket and West End Girls came on the radio. I stopped whatever I was ranting about and yelled "IF, WHEN, WHY, WHAT, HOW MUCH HAVE YOU GOT"

Some lady laughed at me. That ho, it's serious business when Pet Shop Boys is on the radio.

  • 17 other persons meant to convey: This I Like hehehehe

  • The first version of this song was recorded by the Pet Shop Boys with Bobby Orlando in 1983 and released in 1984. This version was re-recorded with Stephen Hague and released in 1985.

  • I love all this '80s stuff!

  • @WallyPyneoil 80's RULES!!!

  • Oh cool. The days when men actually cared about their appearances and didn't have jeans hanging around their ass cracks.

I just wish the video ended with these two beating the hell out of Justin Bieber in the subway.

  • damn... what happen to the world? this was such a better time to live

  • Is it just me or was the music so much better in the 70s, 80s and 90s?

  • @RImusclebear

    i feel u homey

    music sucks now

  • @RImusclebear Not just you.........its just the tone deaf ones

  • Que porquería es esta, no carga ningún video de este canal!

  • I love this song. Period.

  • This was the fuckin jam!!!!

  • this reminds me of a runway show in paris

  • When Mtv ment something!

  • That's when the men had style and the ladies were actually ladies! 80's I miss YOU! <3

  • Has anyone else noticed that rand paul looks EXACTLY like Niel Tennant?

    lol

  • Comment removed

  • Funny, I never liked this song, but I definitely remember it, so I checked it out when I saw it. And now I kinda like it. I guess my standards have gone down by necessity with all the crap coming out these days. My new standard = Anything not current.

  • 25 years later, this still sounds as good as it it did the first time I dropped the needle on it at a radio station. Classic tune.

  • Synth masters almighty Pet Shop Boys! Number one hit from 1986! Rock on Neil and Chris!

  • Note to self: This is not the best song to quote when trying to convince a mother to let her six year-old daughter listen to music from the 80's.

  • Great vid: He really loves that "crush" of his in the beginning of the video. He would think about her while at the pub with friends or at home alone with his dog. Nicely done Sir.

  • This is eighties bliss !

  • I had this cassette tape and played it constantly in my little red 1980 Honda Prelude! I loved that car!!

  • mysterious and wreckless this song is what the pet shop boys are, they taught the world about their part of the world. Great hit...

  • At 2:28 Chris Lowe actually changes his facial expression and dances a little jig.

  • This song was really innovative? can any one or every one tell me this?

  • because music then was better and had rhythm!

  • @MiggleMuggle and talent!

  • well I am in my 20s and I get laughed at because I don't like todays music. I see people where I am, 30, 40, 50, into GaGa and bieber.....I don't get it!!

  • I MISS THE 80's, WHEN VH1 AND MTV WERE WITHOUT THE EXTRAS.

  • A couple of "twenty-somethings" at work will make fun of my age cause I'm just a few years shy of 50. I just chuckle to myself and think "idiots, you never got to live in the 80's"

  • @MrDavkoz - I soooo agree with you.

  • @MrDavkoz You Sir...rock! Whoever those twenty something girls are...they REALLY don't have a clue. They probably like Brittany Spears or some crap like that. :) I'm 30, and since I was much younger I've always loved this music. New Wave, classic rock...you name it! ;p

  • @MrDavkoz They are immature and have no clue about good music. I am only 33, but I enjoy the 70s and 80s music much more than the modern stuff. I thank my parents for exposing me to good music back in the 80s.

  • @RetroJenny That is good music, I think you don't have a clue about music, that is your problem.....

  • @lorijean50 I do think this is a good song. Maybe you misunderstood my comment. I will listen to many music genres.

  • @MrDavkoz Well said :)

  • @MrDavkoz I'm a twenty-something - 29 - and, I lived through most of the 80's (Born in '81 for the mathematically uninclined.). It was a pretty good to be a kid. Kids today - the greenhouse gases are getting to them or something because they're messed up. No attention spans, behavioral issues. If I rely on them for my Social Security, I can forget about it.

Anyway, they're wrong to make fun of your age. I don't understand that - age is to be respected. The younger gens got NOTHING.

  • @sneakiebug10 i agree i could count with one hand the kids i knew growing up who had behavior issues and ADHD and Autism and what not, there were like 3 maybe 4 , now every other kid today has problems.....your right being a kid in the 80's was still good time for growing up, i am a 76' kid......

  • @MrDavkoz Sure, Thanks for rubbing it in, I bet i'm not the only one in my age group(18-19) who wishes they were born 20 odd years beforehand or even 50 years(to live throught the 60's)

  • @MrDavkoz ...Think that's a pill...I'm a 70's Bowie gal!!!

  • @MrDavkoz Im a bit older and gotta tell ya,You are so freaking right! I was over seas when this came out,In fact I was in Europe from 80- late 84.The music in the pubs and clubs played in Spain,Italy,France and most of all Holland ,Germany and Greece. The women were unreal. Even if you couldnt dance you still got up and danced!

  • @MrDavkoz im 21 n i wished i got to live the 80's

  • @MrDavkoz So far as I can tell the late '80s was the time to be at university.

  • @MrDavkoz The 80's...Reagan...total conformity...Michael J. Fox Movies...Brit synth/hair bands yeah, the 80's were so great. Sure thing.

  • you got something better?

  • @jcfbell3001 You telling me that you can't think of a better time than the 80's for culture, music, etc.? C'mon, THINK MAN!!

  • @zoznack

i just remember it being a heckuva lot more fun than the 90s or 00's...travel was easier, people were friendlier...it's like by the 90s, the US had used up the last of the post-WWII good will from the rest of the world....

  • This song really appeals to me because it is so different from usual 80's songs, and also i am a city boy, so i usually crank this song up in my car, people look at me funny but Pet Shop Boys rock.

  • Yay for London!

  • He is adorable! Love the Pet Shop Boys....LOVED THE 80'S!!!

  • 80's Rock!!!

  • YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO rADIO dEPT THEY SOUND ALIKE I TELL YA

  • LATE '70s, TO THE EARLY '90s , NO MUSIC WAS BETTER. ROCK, FUNK, R&B, DANCE, YOU NAME IT. SINCE THE '50s NOTHING COMPARES, UNLESS, IT IS MUSIC LIKE THIS PERIOD IN TIME .......

  • @TheRGK123 i have to agree 100% my lourd

  • @TheRGK123 so damn true. I feel lucky to have lived and remember that period in music history.

  • @TheRGK123

    I prefer the 1980s and early 1990s.

  • @TheRGK123 - Look up Industrial. Depending on the specific subgenre, you're apt to find something that sounds uncannily like Classic New Wave. It's what attracted me to it.

  • This is when music WAS music and not garbage. I MISS the 80s!!!!

  • This song was 10-15 years ahead of its time. It is fabulous.

  • egnod you got that right

  • Dude at 0:36 is kool looking

  • hahaha if anyone's seen Jizz in my pants on youtube, it MUST have been inspired by this song,

  • hahaha if anyone's seen Jizz in my pants on youtube, it MUST have been inspired by this song,

  • It really is way more than just a matter of taste - music was much more creative and fun in the 80s. It is an embarrassment now but the stupid kids keep buying what is fed to them.

  • epic tune

  • analog will rule forever....bring these funky sounds back

  • this song is surreal, i like the scene in the airport, thousands of people walking around + taking escaltors...the song pumping out on the speakers, it is so beautiful in a haunting way. it will always make me remember my 1st love Cory. the song is so beautiful and i always remember him when i hear this. some songs just remind you of people you've shared your life with.

  • Thats music!

  • simply fantastic.

  • Why is Chris Lowe translucent? I never understood that.

  • This is a damn good rap song from 1985! Seriously!

  • Man, he is so stoic in his performance!!

  • hey lets face it people, real music is dead, harsh i know, but there you are, question is where did it go.

  • The 80's were awesome... And so were very other decades I am sure, but the music was great and it happened to be the decade I grew up in.... Awesome! Bring me incredible memories. First dates, sneaking a 12oz Budweiser, hanging out with friends at the Stone Mountain lake in GA... Wow.... Listening to this song was just like taking a trip on a time machine

  • @MrSilvaed123 totally agree with you i take it from your comments you grew up in the states but still the same i grew up in the U.K during the 80's and can remember going out partying with my friends and yes of course getting drunk oh the days lol!

  • Agree with all of you, nowadays what they call music is such a fake, Sluts with no talent, nice asses yeah, but talent no even a bit. This guys are gays, but I don't give a FUCK they have talent. Lady kaka oopss sorry gaga is a man.

  • @piontro You mean Boy Gaga? lol

  • I like how "cool" they looked just walking down the streets in this video. I was in the city with a friend walking down the streets and this video came to mind.

  • 情だな。

  • Best song of the 80's, hands down!

  • i was always a west end girl ;]

  • One of the earliest--and better--rap tunes that was never necessarily identified as such...

But a timeless '80s classic nontheless.

    ---B304A124, aka MrAlexTheGreat1961.

  • This was the hottest song at all the clubs in Salt Lake City Ut in the 80zzz....the Brick and the Ladies Club. Rock on Girlzzz...

  • HAIL PET SHOP BOYS

  • this isnt singing its talking :S

  • @TheSolar09 I don't remember Neil Tennant ever claiming he's an accomplished chanteur (though vastly better these days).

  • 13 people are east end boys

  • excellent baseline!! Mc Donalds in Sergeltorg would always play this song in 85

  • Where can i get a kicka## trenchcoat like that?!

  • wonderful wonderful wonderful wonderfu.......meravigliosaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • there is no "todadys music" theres todays sounds made from computer synthesizers if thats what u mean.

  • My favouite song when I think of London...

  • This song is a masterpiece. Way ahead for 1984.

  • great music forever.

  • 80's what fun in London - and no Aids to worry about for the hetros - Oh!! what fun.

  • western girls........................

  • werd i love it

  • though i was born in '89, my step dad used to blast this music every saturday morning since i was 12. i've been in love with the 80's ever since.

  • The 60's brought the synthesizer

    The 70's experimented with it

    The 80's perfected it.

    The 90's kept it rock'in

The 00's shat all over it.

  • From "West End Girls" to 25 years later of countless hits, the Pet Shop Boys are still on their game. I can take any sampling of their hits and play them in any order, and it would sound like a fresh album to anyone new to their music. And that is what I do. I have generated new fans of their music by doing that.

  • LOL.

I love the song, but this video makes me crack up (like it too btw). The other guy doesn't do anything but have a confused look on his face throughout virtually the whole vid.

  • Brilliant photography and editing. This is a great video. Truly creative and mesmerizing. Bravo.

  • the intro of this song transports me back to a simple time, 80's greatest decade ever!!!!!

  • I remember this song came on in music class when I was in 3rd grade, and I sang every word and the teacher looked at me like ???? This song still gets bumped in my car!!!

  • yeh me too i was born in 69..lol

  • A seriously sick pop song!

  • who cares if they are gay wots that got to do with anything and how they sing./.i say build a bridge and get over it .jammedhead

  • if i see any alpheon on the street i think i could smash it

    great music

  • one of the best songs ever....it still sounds fresh after all these years

  • inner city pressure

  • I loved this song 25 years ago, and I still love it. IMO, it has gotten better with age.

    A Fuckin' Classic.

  • I love the soothing tone of this song♥

  • this is the beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I dont care if these 2 are faggotts, this is a tune!

  • Love the song...hate the commercial

  • me say west end gal dem.

  • totally true @sburshfan

  • this is my jam

  • this song is hot!

  • i love this track - the first 7" i bought, from Woolworths in '86 i think. this & love comes quickly..

  • Todos diran que te enfrascaste en los 80`s... pero saben que.. todo era real... asi que porfavor.. no dejen de escuchar esta musica

  • Man I miss the 80's so much..

  • There's another reason why I like this song so much. Aside from it, well, y'know, totally ruling, is that Tennant manages this air of cool detachment (almost boredom...check the last few seconds of the video), whilst still being completely emotionally invested in what he's singing/rapping. You don't hear that anymore. Sad but true.

  • Great song to test out the Stereo system ! !

  • This is the silkiest smoothest satin sounding song I know. Can almost feel the texture.

  • I wish soon in the future producers feel love for music and not drug dealing.

  • DAMN I loved the 80's!!! I really miss music like this, today's "music" is crap.

  • @egnod LISTEN TO GRUM! he's very 80's inflienced

  • @egnod funny thing, in the 80's i rarely listened to a lot of this kind of music but now id rather listen to anything from the 80s then some of the crap played today.

  • @egnod

yeah no shit. Theres rarely as much good music today as there was, and it's usually all done now by foreign artists. Britian and America have lost their touch with music.

  • @egnod I agree. Im a Youngan and Its a Good thing the Economys down Now in the sense that Im not Buying these Rap Crap CDs. Even Most Metal Nowdays isnt quite up to par

  • Anyone seen "Flight Of The Choncords" episode where they have a song called "Inner City Pressure"? I swear they're mocking this song.

  • Here's a question. Lets say the Pet Shop Boys didn't exist until yesterday when they debuted this song what would you think of this song?

  • @OldManPedro Instant hit! I was a teenager in the 80's and i feel in 89, for instance, that songs like this are timeless.

  • @OldManPedro I would totally dig it! I've been waiting for music to come back

  • @OldManPedro Hey old man ;), great point.

  • I'll never quite understand why some people want to elevate the Pet Shop Boys to important music status. I enjoy their music. Loved it when I was a kid and still find it fun to this day, but influential? Hmm...

  • Way ahead of its time. Sounds just as good now as it did when it was released almost three decades ago. Epic track.

  • @chachachaheyheyhey I agree with ya mate but learn to count. It was first released 2.6 decades ago. :)

  • @PoohNanny I said almost three decades ago. Learn to read. ;)

  • @chachachaheyheyhey U got ot in one

  • WAIMEA BAY SANDYZ BEACH BODY SURFING COMING OUT AND JAMMING DIS SONG IN DA 80S DAM I MISS U AND DA MUSIC AND DA SHOWS PET SHOP BOYS IN DA HOUSE ALOHAS

  • Who's say's caucasians can't rap, Brits at that. What a fun song it was. What am I saying, it will always be a fun song from the most fun decade of all time. Long live the 80's!

  • It's like a time capsule: it captures a moment in time beautifully and poignantly.

  • I love new wave

  • I remember when I saw the Pet Shop Boys on "Soul Train" performing 'West End Girls' in 1985. That's right: "Soul Train"!!

  • @MrAlexTheGreat1961 That's right I remember this song getting a lot of airplay on our R&B/Hip-hop stations back in the day. This was very well-received by many hip-hop listeners because of its tight beat, intoxicating harmony and cool, subdued rapping style.

  • These guys were real cool, what a song! I love a man dressed in a trench coat, makes him edgy and well, Mysterious! The grass is not always greener on the other side of the street!!

  • Well Done. Thank You. Paula

  • I was working n NY when this came out! was awesome!

  • My favorite song of 8th grade....

  • I had forgotten how young they were.

  • Wow, I remember when London used to have fog

  • @aronswritingdeskyt

It doesn't anymore? What happened? Did Maraget Thatcher bust that up, too?

  • @seanr456 Yeah, no more burning coal and wood indoors

  • @aronswritingdeskyt

A-ha. That's why London looked so bleak in Sweeney Todd. Industrial revolution and all that.

  • Actually, this song is from 1986, not 1984. But then again, this video may have been recorded in 1984 and not released in the US until 1986.
