Also I thought one of the rules of the contest was they HAD to produce them to the mass public in order to clam the prize money.

@AshtonPhoto F1 racing cars are also not schedule for mass production yet some of the technologies developed for F1 racing cars are now found in commercial vehicles.

@AshtonPhoto yeah, what's painfully sad is that boats, toys of the rich, have had tremendous innovation and their innovations come to market quickly. Meanwhile, we're still driving combustion engines designed 100years ago. Oil and gas will not let go of their stranglehold of the future.

@shakaama there is enough to last 100,000 years why not use it? if you have a surplus of a thing you should use it. untill someone is smart enought to raise the technological bar high enough so that we can tap the energy of the universe it's the best thing we have.

@circusboy90210 there is not 100,000 years worth of gasoline, theres about 12 years or so at our current rate of burning it, even if you did have 100,000 years worth, after 100,000 years the entire atmothphrere would be carbon monoxide and you would have to wear a spacesuit to go outside and all other plants and animals would be dead.
