Of course it's a huge advantage if you know lots of scales and can play them in any key, but for me playing guitar is about passion and it's up to you to decide what you learn. One of the most important things is to be able to build chords from a certain key.
Fantastic job man! This is the most amazing guitar solo I've ever heard using the Lydian mode, even better than anything I've ever heard from Satriani or Vai, and they use this mode all the time. I know Andy James wrote it, but you're cover of it captures a higher level of energy and emotion, it my opinion, even though Andy James' version is great as well!
