  • what's that music that starts playing in the vid about 9:00? anyone know?

  • Anyone else notice they're running Windows on a MacBook? L0L, why waist the money.

  • @KanyonSoftware so you can have both :)

  • @KanyonSoftware hey, nothing wrong with waisting money!

  • Shut up and take my money!

  • put this in reverse and you can live the life you can possibly imagine!

  • Take a step from the ability to "see"people in buildings via body-heat/infra-red to...already technology via Digital to monitor PC or TV use...to....Tin-foil land! it's not paranoia...IF..."they" already have the technology! mind you, with brain-numbing TV these days there won't be much to Monitor in most folks homes! will we be Assimilated? uh-oh, X-Box is already there!

  • audience are dead ! this is giant breakthrough !

  • she is even impress with the thing...lol

  • Everything is Steins;Gate's choice.

  • @CarlAgbisit

yo Carl, why are you suddenly talking about Steins;Gate?

  • it's a start! soon I won't even have to type to comment. ㅋㅋㅋ

  • TELEKINESIS! >=O

  • May the force be with you!

  • wow that brainwaves reader look like an alien head ...but great invention

  • So its not actually "reading" in the sense it knows what your thinking, but rather record what your thinking for an action, then carry out action when that thought it detected. So you could be thinking bout her bewbs when it records the activity for pull, then when you think of her bewbs it pulls? lol

  • That MacBook is running windows! I guess that program's not compatible with OSX...

  • The Rolex ad was awesome. +1 for non-obtrusive ads!

  • Thats how persons whith mobility problems will regain their mobility

  • Wow. Just... wow.

  • Evan is her boyfriend. No, seriously.

  • Nice video, nice watches!

  • I know it seems minecraft feature begging, but it isn't. I actually think it's a good thing for the world...

  • Our own penises come next, right?

  • you guys might be interested in voting for an idea of mine. Do you know the emotiv company, who is making all the commercial mind-reading game controllers? watch?v=fVhggGSjXVg. they seem to be having a hard time spreading the tech, because no game company wants to be the first one, and it's not popular, and it's not gonna get popular, if you guys just let this go. Goto minecraft's getsatisfaction ideas a search for mind, or whatever. And vote up, start changing the human race's face.

  • Awesome..... this means we can finally play games while using BOTH HANDS to stuff junk food into our mouths !!!

  • I woulnd't put my head in that.. you don't know what the government is trying to do..

you guys should look up Phil Nyguen on google..

  • @ATSBadwolf True! :)

  • scrachting the surface

  • I am curious if this testing has had any heightened psychic breakthroughs.....

  • Ok so you take a highly interesting subject, and somehow manage to PUT ME TO SLEEP! Good job Asian lady!

  • fap fap fap!

  • I think this could help people learn how to think properly. Not to mention the possibilities for education.

  • 3 55 So what R U saying? If it can go thru a brothers hair, it'll go thru anybodies? ROLF! 10 03 IF ya pissed off, U going where? No where. LOL!! Can't wait to get one!!

  • 3 55 So what R U saying? If it can go thru a brothers hair, it'll go thru anything? ROLF!

  • 6:00

HE DID IT WITH HIS MIND!

    ARE YOU A PSION?!

  • This will be so helpful to people who are para- or quadriplegic!

  • with this the gaming industry will be awsome

  • I am so telling jokes to that guy in the weelchair, excpecially when he is in front of stairs or something.

  • @TheNiets not like he's gonna get paralyzed or something... haha :)

But this is really a great piece of technology =) imagine using glasses with screens in them, and enter a virtual world where you can do everything and move like you want to move :D

  • This is how MindJack starts

  • As soon as this technology is commercially available, we can finally have a 100% accurate Professor Xavier costume at Comic Con.

  • Comment removed

  • Sooooooo....when and were can I get one?...

  • @Tonyzz93 I tried answering you, but everything I say gets cencored out as spam. Search for "emotiv" and you find out how to get one.

  • This has CIA written all over it.

I urge those who are not familiar to look up what is called the Positron Emitter Detector, year 1962, and follow the trail.

They aren't bothering to hide this any longer it's all amusement to the elite. I am not trying to scare people but you have to understand what this really is about, and I'm pleading with you people...

Don't do it. For the love of God DON'T DO IT.

  • @unfolding83 As much as I do believe that the CIA does monitor our every step and has ways to know where we are at all times (I am suspicious of those pennies that you always see on the ground everywhere you go), and I'm not saying that this isn't what it is, it could just as likely be the first step to a robot uprising.

I think that this will be an amazing new technology, and will be useful in so many ways, so I don't really care all that much if its something the CIA is doing. I want it O_O

  • @NatPJ1 Temptation wrings integrity even as the thumbscrew twists a man's fingers.

  • @unfolding83 That's the stupidest thing I think I've ever heard.

  • SCARY!

  • When he said "pull" at first I thought he said "porn".

  • WOW!

  • It amuses me that people think this is the end result. For a simple prototype this is very good, and with more work they should be able to get around concentration issues. Even then, if you can't bloody concentrate on a "pull" thought, what bloody use are you?

  • The..... DREAM of Stephen Hawking

  • Absolutely fantastic..

    two words: Open Source!!!

  • @SaturnFX If this shit was in the public domain it would sky rocket

  • @jasonsheil

uh, it seems you are unaware that the forum is open.....

i suggest you get your google on, and check out this epoch headset.

  • this would be cool for recording your dream or spying someone

  • eww shes gross

  • This is the start of Surrogates ...prepare for fat kids controlling bots

  • @KuchikiAvinash whats surrogates?

  • Where is the proof, that all the action is not just playing out from an animated movie clip after choosing the actual task and using just the energy from any brainwave??

He chose 'pull' and then it just plays out the pull animation; its set on 'disappear' and it then just disappears after some brain energy...

  • @ibenizer lol thats the point you fool, nothing very revolutionary yet.. but in time.

  • @TeeFlick

Actually it IS revolutionary just by judging of the engineering of the device alone. Nothing impressive yet but give 10 to 15 years to this thing and we'll get our minds blown.

Also, the military must love this so you can bet your sweet ass that teh monies are going to be there for this kind of stuff.

  • It would be awesome if our brainwaves can be recorded when we are sleeping so we can watch our dreams when we wake up.

  • @milotellsyoustories

Maybe, in the ( I hope, not so distant ) future, it will be possible. That would be good not only for entertainment reasons but also for other reasons.

  • @milotellsyoustories That is actually a kewl Theory :D

  • @milotellsyoustories It might be possible in couple of years.

  • @milotellsyoustories If it will be how you say,the movies will disapear, because the people will watch friend's dreams,so we will have all the genres: thrillers, action, drama, comedy, even erotic,LOOL

  • @milotellsyoustories haha, they actually have. Its in development now.

  • Heh heh. I know he said "Paul" but I bet he's really thinking about banging the asian chick. lol.

  • omg, what a fail!!! she uses windows on a mac device. and not even windows 7, but XP!! wtf? thats a double fail. definitly.

  • @6thLMNT

    that´s marketing!

  • evan seems horny

  • Awesome:)) It would be cool that in the future there would be a device, that would visualize my thoughts. it would be awesome:)

  • she is Vietnamese huh!?

  • Wow are children are going to be so fat and lazy if this becomes common.

  • primitive technology. already have the tech to not only read thoughts but to insert thoughts. which begs the question. are any of our thoughts actually ours, or are the higher beings just choosing who gets assigned which thoughts.

  • @PopeColbert Oh no.. the higher beings are assigning me the thought that you're an idiot who pulls things out of his ass.. dear god. They're turning us against each other!

  • Comment removed

  • @5:15 Wait... did he chose porn?

  • I like her laugh :)

  • 6:19 ; best second of footage ever.

  • The only possible negative impact of this is causing laziness in people and make us even more reluctant to move around (thus more obese) than now. Other than that, this is an amazing piece of technology that empowers.

  • @wildwolf111 on the contrary, it's wireless, so we won't be forced to be sitting in front the computer to use it...

  • Haha, she gets super excited when Evan succesfuly preforms a task XD

  • I wonder what the reason could possibly be for clicking "dislike" to this video. This is absolutely incredible and I fully support this technology. Ahhh I get chills just thinking about the future of all this stuff. I can't wait.

  • I will have to shave my head too if I want to use this thing?

  • Old Montauk technology just being made public for financial-economic purposes. Used as an umbrella to the R&D of questionable research in the field of transhumanism. Whenever economic possibilities present themselves then partial technology is released to exploit. However this will be on a very short leash to the public. Intent will be publicly centered in helping those with disabilities, engineering, and recreational gaming applications.

  • the future: linking this technology to control exo skeleton suits or other biomechanical technologies that allow paralyzed ppl to walk etc....that is SOOO cool. I'd work on that for FREE just as long as I was given a living stipend.

  • It is now time for everybody to go morbidly obese!

  • Give this tech a few more years and everyone can be a JEDI woohoo!

  • Can i get a lawnmower linked to this thing so i can chill and drink beer while i mow my lawn? That would be epic.

  • @roflDRG Not yet but you could probably set it up as remote control

  • @mikejmcc1970 Oh that would be too much work and effort.

  • 7:27 FTW.

And can I please get my hands on one of these things? It's epic.

  • @NateTheGreat555

300USD and its yours... its all on their website.

    emotiv epoch headset.

comes with emokey, replicates any keystroke with brain impulse.

    think of the wps...

  • @Creationsofmyown I saw that.

I was pretty bummed out when I saw that this was developed with software, mainly because I was hoping to do more research in this field.

However, since this doesn't use actual thoughts per se, there must be another alternate way (in the much farther future perhaps) to actually track real thoughts as electrical impulses...

  • God sometimes my brain thinks of things that I'm glad don't turn into actual commands in reality.

  • If you sneeze, your house does everything at once.

  • She delivered that really well. I want one.

  • @wcfcarolina13 The government(s) may grant your wish. We all may have one. For free.

But - will we want one? Think about it.

  • wow!

  • Firstly, this tech has been around for a LONG time.

Second, this proves nothing. At the start she asks him to think of pulling for 8 seconds. This is so the software can interpret whatever brain activity as the pulling action. He could have been thinking of toast for all we know. All he has to do is hold the same thought throughout the activity and assign that thought an action. Eg. Toast - Pull, More Toast - Faster Pull. Do you understand? The machine hasn't done anything clever really.

  • lol, my sure and forename first letters are exactly Tan Le :D

  • DO WANT!

  • The world is soon going to be FULL OF A BUNCH OF LAZY FAT SHITS!!

Oh and the guy brought in a Mac, but the desktop view of it was Windows 7??

  • @TheAmigops

    it already is

  • @TheAmigops it already is!!

  • This will completely redefine cybersex as we know it lol

  • Sometimes I think these TED videos are made by the Onion, unreal.

  • guys, this can be used against humanity and all it gives in return is gaming. Not really woth the tradeoff, is it?

  • you're not using the right mechinism or materials to pick up those very complicated brain wave patterns and complexities, what you could be using is the reverse of music or sound. if we can move tiny ojects through sound/soundwaves then we could essentially pick up more complicated brain wave patterns using sound or the opposite of sound, thereby using sound sensors to capture the mind's waves?

  • @wonderwomen007100 "Ah - look there! On satellite screen B75 - Thoughtcriminal in sector 781/ subsector CD355/ area BT108!...bring up the neuroidentity on that person!..."

  • One step closer to Ghost in the Shell . . .

    ^_~

  • As I see it this technology is very immature. There are about a dozen of such products and every one of them requires massive concentration to achieve anything simple.

  • I cannot even begin to explain to you how exciting this is for me!

I have been waiting fo this since I was a child =)

These are the things that make me happy to live in these times.

    THANK YOU TED!

THANK YOU ALL THE CREATORS OF THIS AMAZING TECH!

  • @roidroid yes. I see your point but It's still at it's early stages and now everyone can play with it and improve it. With this many paralized people can move around since they can afford it!

Imagine not being able to move anything in your entire life...(not even talk or show emotion) When u are able to move an object, even a digital one, on one axis... I would still be thrilled! Just give it a bit. You'll see ;)

  • @DurexDurpaneu2 i don't think this is the first mainstream biofeedback device on the market.

  • 32 thousand views in 10 days. People start appreciating science!

  • these techs are always hopeless. You'll note on their in-house demos it only ever controls one thing at once. Only 1 axis at a time: pull or not, invisible or not.

    Practically useless.

  • @roidroid its the first step my friend. same as flying. we tried over and over till we managed to get the first plane to fly. even if it was for only a few min. then we worked on improving that and now... well look around ;)

  • @DurexDurpaneu2 what i'm saying is that these EEG Neurofeedback devices haven't significantly changed for decades.

They ALL promise controlling your computer with your mind, and they ALL barely work at all, it's always been this way. Giving only one axis of control at most - and it's hard to tell if the results are legitimate or just random fluctuations.

Example: this guy trying to activate "invisible", you couldn't even tell if it was connected or not.

  • @roidroid I hope it stays this way, I don't want anyone to read my thoughts.

  • Unfortunately our crystalline technology, unlike that of Atlantis, isn't alive so we have to build robots to interpret our brain waves. I'm guess the end result of this technology will be a sensor surgically implanted into the center of the brain! And given our current capital society it will only have a life span of 1 year... fun!!

  • @norion108

Are you trying to sound insane?

  • I can't help but think this technology is going to make people live an even more sedentary lifestyle. But the technology's pretty wicked. I wanna get my hands on one of them.

  • What ESP?

  • I bet in like 20 years, they ARE going to brainwash.

  • looks geeky, but has a nice design, and looks like he's being brainwashed!

  • I WANT ONE!

I WANT TO BE A JEDI!

  • cool tan le awesome

  • OMG i am blown away ..this is beyound awsome......

  • i sure hope they make the macros flexible...if I were in a wheelchair I wouldn't want to have to freaking smile all to goddamn time just to move around...HOW annoying that would be!

  • what if I can't stop smiling...

  • this is so awesome

we need to build androids next

  • Rolex sucks compared to Breitling, also Tan Le is not attractive, and also, the Australian accent sounds like someone with a speech impediment..... cool headset too, if you thought facebook's lack of privacy was bad, just wait until you aren't safe inside of your head anymore!!!

  • Whats the track's name at 09:07 ? pl0xers !

  • present future

  • hmm i want one...always wanted a cheap eeg

  • One Q.! Why is this only available to people based in the US?

  • Comment removed

  • @zolikei They're still getting certification for mass market and such. If you want one that bad, you can pay 500 instead of 300, and that gives you access to the development SDK, and they'll send it anywhere. I'm considering it.

  • omg man i always wanted to make vidoe's for youtube but i dont have the equipment to make anny but that headphone makes like everything possible for man kind maybe not everything but we wil get there maybe not now... maybe not next year... or age it is just a matter of time my fellow people in the world head this we wil evolve we wil reach what we want we wil evolve and NOTHING STANDS IN OUR WAY!!!! i hope you agree with me if not well thats your choise to make i wont stop you

  • @Ramon609 You should learn to punctuate sentences before moving on to EEG training.

  • WOW

  • Impressive.... Most impressive. But you're not a Jedi yet!

  • @doloppost haha nice, the force is strong with evan.

  • Hope if this headset that reads brainwaves could be some use to Prof. Stephen Hawking.

  • Comment removed

  • @AbhishekMunie

That was the first thing i thought of! haha sick...

Hawkings would kick black holes asses on another level haha

  • @AbhishekMunie I was thinking the exact same thing. It should even be possible to talk through it.

  • Amazing.

One day, our dreams (night time delusions) will be recordable and subject to playback and posting the web. This headset is a great leap forward toward that. I'm so psyched. Virtual reality, meet reality. Oh wait. It's a vision in a mirror.

  • Stephen Hawking is gonna sure love this! He can use it to dive a submarine down to 20000 feet to test out his new deep sea rolex!

  • omg i've always wanted something like this i wanna play mmos with this o_o

  • Now i have one pattern for them to recognize - it's "where i can buy that thing?" )

  • You know, this is starting to look somewhat like .hack XD

  • this is very powerful

  • It's only a matter of time before they can make the headset much smaller and more precise. I've dreamed of being able to think "off" for lights and they'd go off and vice versa and with various other things. It's like we'll be f'ing jedis!

  • ONLINE RPGs WITH COMA PATIENTS, until they wake up of course.
