  • does anyone know the name of the background song? i love this kind of music . thank you:)

  • truly amazing :)

(do you have part one? I'd love to see the whole dance ^_^)

  • wow, that is so beautiful, the way he uses the fan, so...perfect is the only word i can think of to describe it!! i love it! im always looking for different videos of japanese dance. i absolutely love it, and i loooove the music, especially samisen music (plz correct me if i spelled samisen wrong >.<)

  • he is the best onnagata of the century and one the best of all time. like a swan he appears glidding on the water smoothly gracefully and effortlessly yet under water under his kimono you can't see the strengh required in his legs and arms

  • that's just a very simple version of jiutamai this style of dance's name. this is average level kabuki Senju is an amazing artist yet if you like him check out the onw we call the swan in japan , Mr or Mss Tamasaburo the one who ever managed to transcend the essence of feminity,

  • omg its a man? WOW!

  • judging by the music and the fact that the way the assisstant appears on stage..really reminds me of Kabuki..I'm sure that's an Onnagata

  • this is beautiful

    i want to learn

  • actually there is a male version of a geisha. In fact men were geisha first. They are called takaimochi...the spelling may be off

  • Amazing.

  • shit! im gonna have to dance something like that in school for a project TT_TT

  • @commentXrate heheme to, and i have to dance like that tomorrow XD

  • Beautiful!

  • ABSOLUTELY beautiful..... I personally think Japan has the most elegant and sophisticated culture in the world.... just LOVE it

  • It would be cool to do this with fast (Probably slightly jeriker) movments to a mordern song, though I doubt it would be like putting ballet to pop music, if I ever get bored in japan with an ipod expect to see that on a youtube account

  • it's like robot

    but it's so beautiful

  • very very good dancer

  • Is there a name for this song?

  • I think thats a guy dancing.

  • it is, but who cares? it is absolutely beautiful and captivating :)

  • probably is, the Japanese theater was all men, but they later introduced women to play the parts

  • La beauté et la délicatesse en personne... merci infiniment pour l'hommage à la finesse de la femme japonaise qui nous régale cette déesse ... oui une déesse ... ou un papillon ... quel plaisir :-)

  • she dances so elegant ..

  • Senju is not a woman.He is a man.

  • but mans cant be geisha..

  • At Japanese Traditional Dance

Man perform as a woman and woman perform as a man.

    Rearily he is aman.

    man perfom as a woman.

    and that os not aGeisha

  • Japanese Traditional Dance

sometimes man perform as a man

and woman perform as a man

Realily this is that man dance.

  • sorry .. then

  • why? that is sooooo weird! I read in manga. a boy dresses up like a geisha and I was wondering why?

  • I was wondering what manga was the one you were readingg...

  • @reita100sweet Men can be geisha. But they must dress, act, and literally pretend to be women in order to seem like the real deal

  • @reita100sweet

They can be "a male geisha" look in history that first was men. First was sb who was "make everybody laught in "party" sth alike "cloun"" :/ [sorry I'm bad in english vocabulary] I don't remaber how they call...

  • @reita100sweet eeeh? why not?... beside when acting was introduced, it was males who played both part (male and female) and japan no exception, and there is nothing with it, if they wanted to keep that "tradition"... his dance is damn elegant ^__^

  • @reita100sweet he is a Kabuki artist, not a geisha.

  • @masanorman really? ... i thought, because most Geisha and famous dancers are men.. and do u know the name of the famous japanese family, that train her boys to become proffesional geisha dancers? ^__^

  • very lovely. very precise.

  • What is this dance about:-)? It is lovely:-)

  • wow, she is really good. some day i hope that i can learn how to dance like that :)

  • This is, is i'm not mistaken, Kabuki. Therefore, that's a man, not a woman :)

  • The motions of her arm are perfect!

  • hoishg negashmivug toushuka ninvancadra hanatata cuizeuku yomo hakamu aelu boishikamu nartygiad homkopu menhiuy lopguisy shikalaba

  • Your fan work is so very delicate, smooth, and perfect that you make it appear easy, but it is an art that takes a great deal of practice! You utilize your fan like a beautiful butterfly at the end of your fingers...thank you for your art!

  • hmmmmm it looks kinda easy but there must be some cath b/c no dance is easy

  • i totally love the kimono!!! ^_^

  • is this Kabuki?

  • No. Kabuki is a type of puppetry where the people are fully visible, yet invisible, and use puppets to portray stories.

  • but i've seen kabuki show in indonesia,

the music & the dance is very similar!

    i'm confused...=P

  • You are correct in that the music and dance is very similar, but this is only the dance. Kabuki is (not involving puppets) acting, a type of theater, and this is just a dance without the dialogue and characters of a play.

  • that is bunraku, kabuki is a type of theatre with human people, not puppets

  • ROFL! Agreed. Kabuki is avant-garde Japanese theatre with human actors. Nothing like a puppet show.

  • Actually, Kabuki is a traditional type of Japanese theater, not involved with puppets at all. It is a theater in which traditionally only men have been allowed to act in, and most of the characters are archetypal, characterized by the unique make-up.

  • absolutely beautiful!!! I love the moves

  • that was great. Love the kimono and the Geisha wig was beautiful. kawaii Love it!!

  • I like the way she spins the fan. :D

  • That was absolutely fantastic!

  • fan-tastic! uturly beautiful! so graceful! just splendid, handled the fan very well!

  • Wow, that was great!

  • beautiful!!!!!

  • is beautifull...kasmpai for you

  • neat! :) what is the name of this dance?

  • Absolutely beautiful and so graceful. Thank you for posting this and allowing us all to see this magnificent living heritage alive and well .
