It has more to do with rattling the opponent by being loud on third and long. My team's rival is Nebraska and when I go Lincoln to watch a game they are stellar, knowledgeable fans. Emphasis is on knowledge of the game and good sportsmanship. But if yelling some pointless thing like that makes you feel better, go for it, but don't expect me to think it is cool.

I was at this game in my NU sweatshirt. I live in Madison, and mostly the fans are good fun.

However, while walking down the street to Camp Randall, I was harassed - "Northwestern sucks!" ... very original.

I heard before about the UW welcome (breaking into car windows from Illinois, general vandalism and harassment), but it's quite different to live through it.

BTW, the Illini puts us all to shame in engineering. Northwestern kicks ass in journalism and the social sciences.
