To anyone wondering, radiation tends to settle in certain places and materials. So there's various 'pockets' of radiation all through the town. You can safely wander about as long as you have a device to record the radiation levels. There's a ton of people who go there all the time. One is a motorcyclist who likes the lack of traffic and people bothering her on the roads. She's got a special or youtube video or something somewhere if you get a chance to see it it's pretty interesting.

yo guys my brother was in pyetypat he felt something there he felt a lot of anger and illnes and when he infront (200 meters away) of a wall mart kinda shop that was in the radiation area there was the radiation lvl 231 times than normal and he didnt acces cause that will be his dead and when he was walking back at the car he saw a parent and a child running to the shop ?

the game shows a little bit of what happened there. i think that is more terrible that the supid people who caused this than a video game. the problem is not call of duty . the problem is that this whole thing was a stupid fact. 1) this happened due that the personel of the nuclear plant was testing the emergency sistem cutting down the power 2) the people was evacuated 2 days after the accident.

The hole place is cloaked with radioactive dust, so it goes where wind blows. And by the time when the reactor blew, it sended tons of radioactive dust to the atmosphere and then scattered all over europe because of the wind...

It's not possible. The radiation is so high that even the fruit on the trees is poisonous to us. I don't think anything can be done, the world might end before Prypiat is habitable again.

They are the reason the place has no TVs or even toilet seats. The city you are seeing IS NOT THE CITY OF 1986. It is the city of the early 2000s when the place (which looked pretty normal otherwise) was looted and destroyed. Otherwise, in the 3 hours that the whole city was evacuated, no one cared about throwing dentist seats outside or stealing sivler elements off gas masks.

The gas masks used to be in the school basement in case of nuclear war, but looters brought them upstairs so they could see them and dismantle them. Otherwise, the town was only 16 years old in 1986 so it looked pretty good. It is looters' fault for anything except aging.

This looks like something out of Dawn of the Dead, but it's all the more eerie because it's an actual place which is going to sit like this for centuries. The ferris wheel makes it even more surreal. You keep expecting the film crew to come across a corpse or two ... or a zombie.
