You American's were so lucky to have the Kennedy's always helping the little guy! Political leadres of this caliber only come about so rarely in life...Here in Canada "Jack Layton NDP" was our "RFK" and he too died to young! with so much more work to be done..
A true leader like RFK recognizes neither color nor race, neither creed or status. He fights for justice. Not the justice dispensed by man, but justice of what is right and wrong. Not what is deemed right or wrong by law of men, but what is right or wrong in the eyes of one's soul, conscience, God.
@Thejbirdy Yes friend, as I loved him much also. I lived but a few miles away at the time, and slept, drove to work at Hughes Mkts midnite shift to hear that on the radio. Lets forget 11 bullet shells found in a 6 shooter, or who lady in funny dress was, or who forced him to change his route thru kitchen, or who decided that killer was hypnotized. Sorry
I'm from that era, and Kennedy was a genuine caring man. He grew up in wealth, and he could have remained there, and perhaps still be alive today. Instead he pursued segregationists, the Mafia, and spoke out against the Viet Nam war in '68. That's not cynacism. Those are good moral values.
i think it was the mob/teamsters that did it. they used them to get the power, then tried to take them out. the mob/teamsters struck back first and hard.
mafalda: Don't use "I'm-a-victim" tactics here. Stand on your merits, not sex, race, whatever other excuse-crutch. RFK may or may not have won the D nomination. Had he won it, Nixon would've won going away, not in the nail-biter that '68 proved to be. Why? RFK was too liberal for the national mood. He re-invented himself to his own detriment (Nixon re-invented himself, too, to his benefit). I'm from the era. I lived thru it, worked in it as a youth, remember it, I've got my creds. And you?
Not died, killed. Somehow though, hope remained. I am afraid however, that it has not been realised. I am afraid that there are no good politicians left who can climb up and achieve progress.

This is so emabarassing to me. I grew up in Bakersfield, CA, and that is where the scene with the sheriff talking about arresting people was filmed. Bakersfield is (or was) a throwback to the old south, even though it is just 100 miles north of Los Angeles.
He had to be killed... Can't anyone see that? THe powers that be don't benefit from peace. Only the average "humans" do. There's no one fighting for us, we own nothing and run nothing.. What we DO run are machines at work.. If we all stopped them all at the same time, we'd have our say, but we're too busy at each other's throats and busy with our television/talk radio fueled hatred. There's nothing coincidental about that fact... We're being kept.
They don't trust the American People. We are good, honest, decent people. Bobby's times were different! Bobby stood up at a time greatly needed. Now we have another standing up at a time it is needed. This time we must learn our lesson from the past. We have many challenges, many walls but they can come down. We are a smarter nation now. There are those that are trying to keep us and those that are trying to unleash the power, creativity and ingenuity of America. Stand Up Take it Back right now.
Wow. Well said. You are truly a Patriot with an understanding of what keeps us down. The day we all figure this out is the day we will all begin to truly live the American Dream. Thank you for your insightful words.
The police in Minneapolis preemptively arrested protesters that hadn't broken any laws including the people that did become disorderly and violent. Journalists with press passes were arrested for no cause; police POINTED GUNS at the cameras of journalists that were recording the protests. Is this China, Iran, Stalinist Russia? Who are we?

This is false promotion. RFK didn't "smack Republicans." All local officials in the South at that time (sheriffs, mayors, district attorneys, etc.) were DEMOCRATS. Southerners today often vote Republican for Prez and statewide offices, but they still elect Dems to many local offices, which they've done since the Civil War. Old habits die hard. And RFK didn't "join" that picket line. He did a self-aggrandizing photo-op.
Wrong, wrong, wrong! RFK was one of the very few politicians who actually gave a damn about people. The photo-op he gave did more for the workers than anything else, at the time.
mafaldacrumbwitty: Child, you don't know Bobby, only what the adoring corporate media have spoon-fed you. Bobby was a ruthless, driven politician. He exploited his constituencies. Note how he let his hair grow long to exploit the fashion trends. Bobby lived in a guarded Virginia mansion with servants, drivers, chefs, etc. He "gave a damn" about where the votes and the money came from, and that's all.
I remember his cynical, opportunistic campaign in '68. I'm of the era. Are you?
I've seen the video of Bobby giving that speech after MLK's death. There was no telemprompter. No written words. That came from the heart and the endeared him to the disenfranchized Americans at the time. After MLK's death, it was dangerous for whites to be anywhere near blacks, but Bobby walked right through a crowd of screaming blacks and not one of them touched him. White working class ppl, latinos and blacks all came under one campaign. Now why is that?
Bobby was ruthless yes, but he actually cared about underprivilaged americans, regardless of their color. Both of the Kennedy brothers cared about Civil Rights, they cut their poltical necks in 1963 because of it.
