This is so emabarassing to me. I grew up in Bakersfield, CA, and that is where the scene with the sheriff talking about arresting people was filmed. Bakersfield is (or was) a throwback to the old south, even though it is just 100 miles north of Los Angeles.

I've seen the video of Bobby giving that speech after MLK's death. There was no telemprompter. No written words. That came from the heart and the endeared him to the disenfranchized Americans at the time. The truth is, at that time(1966) virtually the entire political leadership of the state of California and, unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of "Anglo" California citizens were against Cesar Chavez and the farm workers.
