It should help regular citizens also. I've nearly been rear-ended by some idiots not paying attention and I pulled over for lights and such as I was taught even before I started driving.
Sir, I commend you for being a Police Officer, but as a citizen you do have the right to complain. I live right down the street from, Fire, Police and EMS and at 2 in the morning I hate waking up to the damn sirens. Also, I hate when Cops misuse the damn thing to run a red light. But yea. That's my 2 cents.
Aw yes, you complain about the sirens and police running red lights. But what happens when you need the police in a hurry. Do you want them to take their time to your emergency?
I'm not talking about when they are running code I am talking about when they are just driving around, I saw a cruiser today ran 2 stop signs and had no tail lights on (were both blown). Also she wasn't going to a call because I had my scanner on. No reason to do that. Now if I was being shot at or I was dieing I would deff want them to run the lights which is why they ask permission to run code. Also I did use the word Misuse. That's all I said, about that.
Then shes a bad cop and you should of reported her before she killed someone. back in june 2 cops were drag racing in milford CT and 1 cruiser hit an oncomming car at 94MPH killing 2 teens.
Not all cops are good, but Many are there to help you.
@t22films - and people shouldnt be drinking and driving. otherwise they would've never pulled out in front of the speeding police car too. you gotta look at both sides. both are at fault
I used to live next to a hospital and wake up to sirens and a freaking hella loud helicopter sometimes at 2,3,4 in the morning. But the police in our town would not run the sirens at night. And if they did it was just a manual touch.
If you can't hear a police siren over your air conditioner then you probably shouldn't be driving at all .... -.-

NYPD has all cars equipt with em now. Not undercover cars since they have small hand held or 2 switch sirens.
