Obviously they are both N64 games, but they have a lot in common actually so it's surprising that Castlevania 64 was sort of a failure. Just a few "references": The 3D engine is of course similar, Iron Knuckles = Armored Knights in Castle Center, Skeletons = Staflos, Vampire Gildre = Ganondorf (they even die similar ways, and the castle or top of it collapses in both games), Drago = Ganon.

Ah this brings back memories. Finished this game so many times on the hardest modes. But I always found Carrie's hard mode the most difficult to beat in the alotted time if you want to fight the real Dracula and not Vampiric Vincent, although he's pretty cool :) I think Henry's mode is quite good too.
Wish she had this outfit in Legacy of Darkness. Call it lazy but I don't wanna play her story through again on this game just for the costume. (Unless of course it's different than it is in LoD?)

You have to beat the game. That's funny, I'm a fan of Akumajo Dracula X and never realized that this was supposed to be Maria's costume. In all fairness though, I played this game before Ronda of Blood. This is an old VHS transfer from the late 90's, haha.
At the top of the Tower of Sorcery, before the exit, look out in the distance there is a torch. Use Holy Water to show the invisible walkway like Indiana Jones. When you get across, get the purple jewel. After finishing the game, this allows Carrie to get the secret costume.
@corndawg15 when your in the tower of sorcery at the very end before you walk into the door there will be a floating candle thing and you would walk over to it because there is an invisable bridge but you can use holy water to find your way across.
I loved this game! I don't know why all the hate for it! If you look over the edge when the skeleton ape jumps off the cliff when you first meet up with it, you can watch it swim away! I thought that was a neat little detail they stuck in the game! However, I'm confused about the time line of this game. EGM magazine says this game takes place in the mid to late 1800s. How could that be when you have skeletons on MOTORCYCES?! I'd think this would be closer to the early 1900s around close to WW 1

@MUSCLECOLT Excellent point, but you're talking alchemy and this is more of 20th century mechanics I suppose. Remember it's the 19th century still without propellers ... I think the time frame should have been 1920 instead or something like that^^.
for Reinhart, in tower of execution there you see a platform with an iron maiden, you can walk that way from the place where u start, there is the special2, careful, you must be walking near the wall all the time
umm well the castlevania makers did put a difference in both games you see in LOD you start on a boat but in this game you start out of no where in the forest hmm...however both games are simalier just with different objectives and when you go into the castle the backgrounds are all the same plus the doors are put at exactly the same spot

Near the end of the stage you'll see a platform floating far away from the place you actual are. The path to the platform is invisible, so better find it by throwing holy water.
Then walk to the plattform and destroy the candle there. You'll receive a crystal called "Special3" or "Special2", I think.
As for Reinhardt, I don't know. I never made it through duel tower.

One thing: The game takes place in the mid-19th century. 1856, at least. Motorcycles weren't invented until sometime in the 1940's. Can you tell me how they managed to put a modern vehicle in an ancient time?

Yeah, man! I thought it translated well to 3D! The N64 Castlevanias feel more like Castlevania games than the newer 3D titles do. I don't know where all the hate is coming from. To me it felt like playing the original all over again. I guess people hate because it came after Castlevania: SOTN, but that's comparing apples and oranges. I think Konami did a fine job. @rang3r34 I love those two games. Maybe it's nostalgia, maybe not. I really thought those games were awesome. Curse of darkness was more fun and better balanced because of the improved level design and camera, but the first game was just legendary becuase of the difficulty and the length of levels.
In CV64 you need to collect a special Item In one of the levels. there are 3 of them. one unlocks hard mode the other 2 Unlock the Alt Costumes for Reinhart and carrie. In LOD just find all 6 Children when playing as henry and you unlock both Reinhart Carrie and the alt costumes plus hard mode.
I know all about the specials ( i hate CV64 cause the characters r mad slow, i like LOD better. So this costume is only in CV64? aww. and I kno all about the other costumes in LOD, i beat the whole game, practically) Ty for u'r help.
i only got to the hell garden maze thing with the frankinstein and the stone dogs but the creepiest boss i saw in those few weeks before my game pak got totalled was the dragon that was wrapped up around on the cross

I have the 3rd key but I can't go through the f'n door. The door with the white crystal in front of it is the right door isn't it? Any ideas? Maybe I'm just stupid.
This is hard mode and if you find a secret jewel you get a costume as well, If this is cartride two(what been come out after christmas) then you need to find all the kids in the game with John to play with him is possible after you beat the game 1 only(I belive that is his name) and each kid gives you something this way you can unlock the first cartridge!

i love legacy of darkness. that was the first castlevania game i finish from all of them, and i can said is one of the best game i ever play. i love the ending so dramatic and with a waiting of a continue, well the first castlevania of 64 is the continue of legacy of darkness, ( everybody know that right?)

Ah this brings back memories. Finished this game so many times on the hardest modes. For Carry, play at least on normal.

i love legacy of darkness. that was the first castlevania game i finish from all of them, and i can said is one of the best game i ever play. i love the ending so dramatic and with a waiting of a continue, well the first castlevania of 64 is the continue of legacy of darkness, ( everybody know that right?)

He means the Ocarina of Time with updated higher-resolution graphics that came with the special collector's edition of Windwaker for the Gamecube

yeah i remember that nitro then when i put it up to the wall finnaly. i had forgot to take out the seal and was so pissed of cuz i had to do it over GOD that castle center is hard!!
