  • The fuck is deathrock?

  • Also, the beginning of this video threw me off. I thought Act V was going to play instead.

  • Ugh, please don't tell me I'm the only one who likes both metal and deathrock -.-

  • @6blackxhalo6 You're not alone!

  • @VeneficaDelirium thank you!

  • @6blackxhalo6 I don't know why, but I've known a handful of deathrockers and in my experience they're always looking down on metal. I like both genres, though I'm definitely more partial to metal, and I can't have a conversation with them about music without them condescending my taste. "LOL EWWW YOU LIKE METAL". It's really annoying.

Opera IX is my favorite band, and Cadaveria definitely one of my favorite vocalists ever. Her vocals really suit this song, providing a vampiric ambience.

  • @6blackxhalo6 you're not the only one

  • As a proud Deathrocker and member of the Positive-punk/Batcave subculture, all I can really think to say is what the fuck is this shit, I don't even...

  • @DeathrocketFilmCorp As a great fan of Bauhaus and Peter M. I can really say that this cover is excellent...

  • j'adore cette version!!!! C'est un vrai chef d'œuvre!!!! Bravo

  • Pinches bombos!!! yeah (fucking bass drums)

  • This sounds so beautiful.

  • A great cover from Bauhaus original Bela Lugosi, and I also agree with linkinn18 that she is much underrated, If you like the good old Opera IX listen to two of their greatest songs: Alone in the Dark and the Call of the Wood from the album "The Call of the Wood", at least for me those two tacks contains the very essence of Opera IX and Cadaveria when she was the lead singer.

  • UNDEAD, UNDEAD, UNDEAD!!!! Great cover.

  • Is this found in their album? Which one? Sorry, I'm new to this band. THX!

  • @aciddeathadder The album is called "The Black Opera"

  • @aciddeathadder you have arrived too, too late, the better times are already in the past, the album is Symphoniae mysteriorum in laudem taenebrarum, (i guess you english speaker are totally unable to spell that, so it is better known as the black opera) track 7

  • One of the most underrated singers in metal!

    Much better than Anette Olzon

  • I'm realy not a fan of Opera IX, but this cover blew me away..

The drums, that piano they added, awesome !

  • Don´t matter the style, I love this cover!!!!

    Hail Opera IX

  • It's NOT black metall!!!

  • Talk about that slipknot is the Devil

  • WTF this is a music? omg...

e ainda falam que Slipknot é do Demonio....

  • Hm...Don't think this really qualifies as "black" metal. I like it though. It sounds very different from the original...which is one way to approach a cover. And I think, the most valid. To take a song you love and put your sound into it. It suits the song. =) But, not black metal. Not that I am an expert.

  • i love to fuck gothic girl!!

it will be hot if fucking in raining blood!!

    hahaha!!

  • bien ah!!

  • Someone can tell me how is original pronunciation of teh band ?? Opera IX (nine or ??)

  • @Draxxor Yes it's nine

  • @Draxxor "Ou-pae-rah Nou-vae"

  • WTF, seriusly wtf ??? they f**ed the song...

  • cool they'd put a part of the magic temple in it

nice movie ^^ great song =D

  • Good video, confused cover.

  • the drums sound more like "In the Flat Field" than Bela.

  • Cheesy video, but I like the cover

  • Mortitia Addams is singing about Bella Lugosi? 'Black' Metal sings Goth Rock? Is nothing sacred anymore? Lol, cool video

  • nothing is sacred, but everything is cool

  • i love her scream-type singing

  • DE HUEVOS HEEE DE HUEVOS

  • This is Gothic Metal not Black Metal

  • is black gothic metal!

  • @KenshinHimura22222 Nothing black metal about it. I don't hear any screechy vocals, chainsaw guitars or blastbeats.

  • @KenshinHimura22222 gothic blackmetal check it out

  • Check out,,DRACENA-(Demonic Women)..on youtube

  • This song is credited by many to be the first "goth" song. BAUHAUS is amazing....

In the flat fields, stigmata martyr, slice of life, she's in parties...

  • AMEN!!!!

  • Its good..But I like Bauhaus version better

  • agreed

  • best opera ix video (not the best song, but anyway it's a good one)

  • VIVA CADAVERIA

  • nice cover! i would rather call it gothic metal than black metal though

  • You are absolutely right!

  • oslo ,norway

  • lol

  • Yeah, I wonder the same... lol.. xD

  • Great cover.

  • Comment removed

  • I have a question that probably sounds stupid...I've been referring to this band as "Opera I X" the way it's spelled...but someone told me it shoudl be pronounced "Opera Nine" because of the Roman Numerals...which is it?

  • opera nine is correct

  • Or better , in italian Opera nona

  • @progmatrix: you mean Opera Nove

  • @MrMagusM

yeah, nove is nine. However I think it's better say nona that is ninth

  • @progmatrix opera nona is ninth opera, not opera 9. Opera nove is the exact translation...

  • too bad that Cadaveria is not a member of Opera at present;/ the best album ever 'The Black Opera' I love each sound from this album;D

  • What´s the name of the song used as intro in this video ? It´s one of my favourites songs from Opera and I don´t know its name or in which cd is found.

  • the magic temple

  • the song kicked big ass

but she startet to do somekind of pseudo screaming that ruined it for ME

  • U are pseudo. Her voice is perfect

  • Why can't we find their tribute ' Rime of the Ancient Mariner" from Iron Maiden .

  • i found it on a site called "imeem"

  • This woman's voice is quite perfect...

No, actually in this video herself is perfect....

Sorry for my eventually bad english.

  • Would be better with more Howled vocals as opposed to this. Something a bit more... Black metal.

  • mamece2

emo? your'e a faggot ;/ go kill yourself if you can't apart emo and gothic ;/ kill yourself please :X

  • so your saying black metal is goth? then you are just as stupid as he is....

  • very interesting...would love it more if the vocals were more brutal, kinda like Angela of Arch Enemy. It's kinda kitsch actually, but good :-D

  • this is not blackmetal.

  • The original one rules!

  • this is a great cover by a great band for a great song. pity that this video kinda sucks, and doesnt grasp the music's intensity at all. try listening to the album version

  • How can anyone in their right mind even say this song compares to the original? How can you even try to have a female singer cover this song? It's meant to be deep and haunting, and she starts screaming the chorus? Black metal needs to stick to black metal and not try to cover a Post Punk song. How the hell did they think this would work? Before you start bitching at me I have not heard the rest of this bands work so fuck off. I'm not dissing the band, just their shitty cover of an amazing song.

  • Why don't you piss off, this IS great cover whether you like it or not

  • Wow. Like I'm going to take advice from someone who can't even spell tourniquet properly, and honey... it's a horrible cover.

  • wow, you're really up yourself aren't you?

and It's a user name get over it, besides I suppose you could do a better cover bitch?

  • Hahahaha. Nope. Never claimed I could. I'm sure someone with suck a really witty reply such as yourself could though.

  • Yep You obviously have your eyes closed and are too stubborn to see theres more than just one way to cover a song and its not all about the 80's "dear".

  • Oh wow. Did you think of that all by yourself? No wait! Piggie did! Yay to you! I agree with piggie, and at least he put it in grownup words. You just ripped of the original. Just like your band :)

  • Why are you so stuck up? is there a pole up your ass preventing you from realising what a big joke you are? and they aren't my band you idiot.

  • Bauhaus and Opera IX are two completely different things. You can't compare the two, the original is a great milestone tune, and the Opera IX song is also an awesome masterpiece for the Metal genre.

  • Comment removed

  • dont be so uptight. this is just their interpretation of the song. they are black metal so they'll do it their way. just because youre doing a cover doesnt necessarily mean you should redo it exactly the same as the original. otherwise it would be pointless. i understand you don't like it but don't be ignorant. by saying a certain genre should stick to its genre closes the door to creativity and makes u seem close minded. obviously ur an 80's music lover so u shouldnt act close minded.

  • much as i love the bauhaus version this is intesting . i saw a very strange version in the eighties david j shouted the first verse without stopping for breath. so even they were open to interpritation .

  • Opera IX are amazing

  • They showed Bauhaus how to play their own song.

Not many bands can do that.

  • no they fucking didn't!They can't even compare to Bauhaus

  • So fucking wrong it deserves some violence. However I'm not saying this is a bad cover. It's different. It does NOT beat the original though and saying that it's SO much better than the original that it makes it sound bad is so well... WRONG that you should really think about what exactly you're saying before you actually put it into words.

Thanks you :) and good night.

  • I dig this version.

  • I love people experimenting with shit like this. so I think it's cool. It isn't a matter of who's version is better or what.

  • oh no...a such beautiful song like this one...this band destroyed a classic.

  • listen negura bunget....is black metal romanian band .....i am from romania ......don't loock at my video cause all videos are from my brother :P:P:P.....black metal 4 ever

  • orale, chido

  • bag pula in unguru ala de mai jos

  • italian black metal at its best.

  • she'sin her band now ,CADAVERIA

    Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse

  • A Well played cover for bela lugosis dead, but nothing like the original.

  • I love this fucking video....is really one of the best of Opera IX....Receive my Regards Opera IX....see ya bitches

  • uzhasni ste! OPREZ!

  • cadaveria isn' black metal band..

  • drochfuil you're a fuckin idiot, Cadaveria and Opera IX is Black Metal, marylyn manson is a shit, a fuckin poser mother fucker!!!

  • I know that dumb ass, that is exactly my point. This is ROCK, "Manson" is a fuckin BRAND. Maybe in future you should let these comments distill a little first, before you go spouting off and making yourself look foolish.

  • come on, manson is cool but not as cool as black metal

  • Jesus Christ! Can anyone understand what I said?

  • yup... i did :P

  • i am a masive fan of bauhaus but i like this but i still say i saw david j do the strangest version in aylesbury back in the eighties

  • pure fuckin evil

    hail satan

  • EVIL! This is the woman Marilyn Manson wishes he was, very fuckin cool.

  • what a shitty band... they looks all like clowns...

  • pendejo

  • ke banda !!!

    ez magnifika

  • well, at least this band can pronounce the name correctly! I'm from Romania and Bela Lugosi was romanian so...I know better! Bauhaus took a crap on his name by saying something weird like Bela Loogoosy! ah Fuck It!!! btw, Lugosi came from the town where he was born - Lugoj!

  • Correction: he was HUNGARIAN asshole!!!

  • born in Lugoj! check the map, asshole! Lugoj is in Romania, not Hungary!

  • He is HUNGARIAN, HUNNNGARIANNNNNNNNNNNNNN

  • ok, so maps aren't your thing...

  • i don't get y u guys fite bout that, but cool as u like

    anyway it's a cool track,

i guess u think so too

  • Bela Lugosi = Bela Ferenc Dezso Blasko, none of them beeing romanian names, half of them untranslatable to romanian.

  • Bela Lugosi was born in Lugos, former Austro-Hungarian Empire, now Lugoj, Romania.

    So he was Hungarian.

  • dude, you're dumb! before it was under that empire shit it was romanian territory since the beginning of time! if that land was under fuck-shits for some years, that doesn't mean the people there became suddenly hungarians. ASSHOLE!!!

  • For the ASSHOLE here above. Bela Lugosi's real name was Béla Ferenc Dezső Blaskó not Bela Francisc Dezideriu Blasko where, in fact, Bela and Blasko are intraductible to your wannabe countrys' official language. So keep your historycal knowledge home, and open your eyes and your mind! You wannabe european citizen!!!

And I wish Adolf Hitler were still alive

    Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse

  • he's fuckin right:)

  • For the ASSHOLE in the main post. Bela Lugosi's real name was Béla Ferenc Dezső Blaskó not Bela Francisc Dezideriu Blasko, where, in fact, Bela and Blasko cannot be translated to your wanabe countrys' official language. So keep your historical knowledge home, and open your eyes and your mind! You wanabe european citizen!!!

  • Music is very good, but they should have found a real singer.

  • I LUV CADAVERIA

  • The Black Opera is one of the best cds to get for sure! Its one of the few cds I have that I don't feel the impulse to skip a song!

  • shit.

  • i love her voise.... very nice... and the music.. well, it has strange atmoshpere. i love it!

  • this is better than the bauhau's shit

  • opera ix is musically great, but i must admit, being a fan of black metal, goth, and MUSIC in general, i must admit the vocalist's voice isn't that great for leading the song, although her voice is beautiful. musically, this is a great rendition, but i think they should've found a guest vocalist for the lead, but have her do backing (CoF style) and have her take lead at oh, bela\bela's undead\ and complete it in her drone

  • Just to add : even is Opera IX is a symphonic black metal band, this song doesn't sound like black metal.

Another proof that you can't judge the band by only listening to this song ;-p.

  • Just hate the people who only judge a band with only a song.

This reprise is not fantastic at all, and I perfectly understand that the fans of Bauhaus can feel angry, but insulting Opera IX by judging on this reprise is very stupid, especially when you don't know the rest of their fucking great work.

(Sorry if you don't understand everything, I'm French.)

  • i love her

  • Cadaveria just f*ucking rules! >=P

  • "The singer has no talent."

To respond to this, have you seen the work that Cadaveria does? One song shouldn't base your opinion on a certain artist. Cadaveria is a VERY talented woman. If you don't like the way she sings, then don't watch the videos, and in the end, don't comment.

Don't troll good music videos, okay? Cool. thanks.

  • pure crap...very backwards.

  • OperaIX aren't a bad band at all, musically. The singer has no talent, in this song she is as flat as anything. Peter did it perfectly, but this woman sounds revolting. 1/5.

  • Flat? The original is shit sounds like hes just talking in his sleep its boring this one is amped up. Its not all in the same key on vocals.

  • Stovebolt, the other band is called DyNAbyte

  • OperaIX is a great band, try opening up your minds to different kinds of covers. they arn't going to sound exact. that would be boring if i wanted to hear something just like the orignal i would listen to the orignal. Hails to OperaIX!!

  • What other band is the vocalist from Opera IX in, i've been trying to look for them for a while now.

    Btw Opera IX rule.

  • *sigh* don't bother with trying to convince them BloodFire66. It seems coming in here just to gloat at the band's cover and not be constructive witht their criticism is the only thing they're good at around here; and by with way people, why do you even bother watching this damn video if you feel that this is out of place with the original. LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!!

  • Horrible, atrocious, she's ugly and has no singing talent. And to be frank, you do not make a black metal cover of a goth song, especially not the goth anthem. 1/5, I'd give it a 0 if I could.

  • you all should take the time to listen to some of Opera IX's other songs before judging them like douche bags..

but some covers arent that good anyway.

but Opera IX is a great band

  • i love Opera IX..

    theyre an amazing band,

so fuck you all who dont like this cover!

  • Take 1 part Vampira, 1 part rancid Manson guitar throwaway, 1 part film school dropout and top with the threatening pathos of the halloween aisle of Walmart and Opera X is the result. Pure novice with all the shining brilliance of dirt.

  • *agrees* But I must say, I kind of like the images in the video. The cover sucks, however. Black Metal does not mix with Goth. At all. It just doesn't. Maybe they are a good black metal band to some, but.. why? Why cover Bela Lugosi's Dead??

  • I like it, it's just a black metal interpretation of the original. A cover should be an inspiration, not just a mereley copy of the original.Good job.And just for the records, I'm a great fan of Bauhaus.

  • Eh. Musically, I don't see anything wrong with the cover. It's a nice interpretation. Her voice however... I don't know, perhaps I'm overly cricital. But her accent is far to heavy, and she's a little bothering to me. Her "sung" vocals feel stale and dry, and her "Shouted" vocals just... bah. So, all I offer to Opera IX is, find a better singer, and you'll be flawless.

  • I curse you...

Bauhaus has no relantionship with black metal.

  • The video is a gothic masterpiece...! ...But I also love the way she has gone beyone the genre (musically) and energised and updated the song, I think Pete would be really pleased that a) the song can still evoke such charged emotions and b) that someone had the confidence to play with it and let it evolve... (in fact I know he would...) Go Girl! ...

  • not good.
