About block lists. What happens if I block my ISP ex. Comcast or Road Runner from tracking me. I've only read these circular "don't bother asking questions" with the only answer being "it's not recommended". It's like on list sites I went to they had a FIRST RULE OF FIGHT CLUB attitude about the question.

I mean, If I block my ISP trackers, wouldn't that hide my use of P2P clients to them? Wouldn't that stop throttling? Or would there be MUCH MORE NEGATIVE consequences of doing this IDK yet?

@EdwarioERS You can't just block your ISP. You can tunnel your traffic through a VPN which would hide the content your DLing but they could still throttle you.

Check through all the comments on this video. Quite a few others had similar issues. Try disabling PG2 while updating and if the issue persists for a week then try either a repair, new blocklists, or different client like Peer-Block.

It sometimes says that. It's not unusual. I suggest disabling PG2 while you do your update in case one of the update server IP's is blocked but it could be that the server is momentarily unavailable. If this happens for several days then it might be an issue with something else like a firewall or something but it's normal to happen every now and then.

Peer-Guardian doesn't have official signed drivers. I made a tutorial on how to bypass this issue which can be found on my channel under Tutorials but I recommend using a variant of Peer-Guardian 2 called Peer-Block. It's based of the PG2 Source code and pretty much the same interface but has signed driver support for Vista and 7

Peer-Block is based off the Peer-Guardian 2 Source-Code so yes, it's essentially the same thing but it's been updated, enhanced, and also has Driver-Support on x32 and x64 platforms of the newer Windows OS's. This happens every now and then during maintenance or if their is a network issue. Also sometimes the server IP can be on a Block-List so it's best to Disable the client prior to updating. If this continues for more then a week the application may be corrupt or having issues and require a repair. Also, ensure you don't have a firewall blocking the update.

Limewire is a Peer-To-Peer Client. You would have to block all the people using it or spoof your IP. I would simply not use Limewire or any other primitive P2P client like that. Stick with Torrents or Warez forums. If you do that and use Peer-Guardian, Peer-Block, a Proxy, VPN, or some form of protection you'll probably be fine.

If the IP address is in the blocklist. Of course, I don't believe IP's are tracked/reported via Rapidshare or Megaupload as that's a huge privacy issue.

How many Block-Lists are you using? Make sure they are updated and Peer-Guardian is Enabled. Sometimes the update servers go down for maintenance too.

If it's still now working try using Peer-Block. It's based on Peer-Guardian 2 source code but more up to date. It's the same interface and everything and what I am currently using. Plus it's supported on Windows Se7en and Vista.

P2P is the primary one you need unless one of the other three are for P2P. Sometimes the blocklists can block the IP of the update server so I recommend Disabling PG while you update the Blocklists. I had the same issue many times as well and I'm inclined to think it's just a temporary network issue which isn't anything to be to worried about.

Text shouldn't appear unless it's actually blocking an IP on a blocklist. Ensure it's Enabled (Rather then disabled) and try downloading a couple torrents while it's running to see if it's working. If no text is showing then check your settings and ensure you have it configured properly to display blocked IPs.

If that fails then I suggest using Peer-Block. It's based off the Peer-Guardian source-code but updated and has signed drivers. It's actually better performing.

The IP (And name associated with it) appear everytime it's blocked/allowed (Depending on your configurations). Just because it "comes back" doesn't mean it's not being blocked though, it actually means it IS being blocked :)

Generally when this happens it means one of three things:

- Issue with your internet connection

- Firewall blocking the connection (Usually software based)

- A Blocklist has an IP blocked that's used to contact the Blocklist download server.

Try disabling Peer-Guardian then trying to update. If still no success try disabling your firewall (Windows as well) to see if that's causing the issue.

If no success with that try Peer-Block which I recommended to the user below me.

Once again, are you on XP or Vista. It sounds to me like your on Vista meaning your getting that error because the pgfilter.sys is not a Signed Driver. Yeah, I just tested it on my system... seems to work well! I've heard the only thing you have to do to avoid a crash is to first disable the program before exiting it. If you just exit without disabling it first the program will crash.

Eh, I wouldn't say it's suppose to happen but I have had it happen to me. I believe the reason is because one of the blocklists is actually blocking the update server's IP. When you try to perform an update check your Peer-Guardian client to see if it's actively blocking an IP when you do it and if so Right-Click and allow

If it's getting blocked then it's in a blocklist you have labeled as a Bad IP. So it may be wise NOT to stop it. Just minimize the window. However, if you feel the IP is not a problem and want to Allow it you can simply right-click on the IP and select Allow Permanently. From the 10 seconds of research I did on that IP it seems to be related to Spyware or Ads. Probably from the Ads or Spyware blocklist. You'll probably be fine allowing it if it bothers you to much.

I have had this issue occur in the past before, ultimately what you will need to do is either try running pgfix.exe in the Peer-Guardian install directory or re-install. I researched that issue awhile back and didn't find much help.

Luckily PG is a quick and easy install. Just copy down what lists you use.
