I'm actually using the Canon version of this lense on my 40D.
While I don't know how it would perform on something that demands more resolution, I am completely satisfied. Great sharpness, amazing stabilization and a reliable AF. This one really is a bargain. My favorite lense next to the 50mm 1,8 - whenever I can, I actually opt for the Tamron.
I am using the Tamron 70-300 VC USD lens with Canon 60D and am totally dissatisfied with the results. I did give the lens to the service center. They returned it "repaired" however the new results are no different. Have not been able to get any sharpness in the photos. I also face the problem where it keeps hunting for focus. I have to manually adjust the distance and then let the autofocus work
I am really disappointed and feel as though I Have wasted approx $600 on the lens.
i 'm thinking of getting that lens for my Canon 550D , but i would like to know if we can use a polarized filter and the hood at the same time ? and does the front lens turn while zooming ?
@faridMacLeod Glad you liked it. Yes, there is room to use the hood - as long as it is a normal screw on filter, and no the front does not rotate when zooming.
But if you mean CPL filter, remember that you will need to rotate the filter for best results - and that will be a problem with hood on - you will need to take on and off.
@jer3myz Ha! You are unusually observant! Yes i do, I lost a lot of weight, but I still carry some extra on thighs. I hope it won't stop you following the channel :)
@thatnikonguy I was gonna ask how many pants you were wearing, maybe it was cold :P. I'm a canon and I'm on a budget, I can't really afford the 70-300 IS USM and I'm considering this one, do you think it's a good choice?
I have the old and cheap tamron 70-300 for my Canon 400D & 50D, but after 3 years of use I get the well known error message's (Error 1 & error 99). Does anyone know if this lense also has this problem?
Mmm I have my eyes on this lens. I heard it was pretty good image quality wise and well with the lower price F4-F5,6 is acceptable. It is better then a 250mm F6,3 some zoomlenses over you. Right now my best lens is a Tammy 28-75 and I have a simple 55-200 for a longer range. This sounds like a better choice.
@thatnikonguy...which one do you recommend nikon 55-300 vr or this tamron? thanks

@NotoriousLdw No sorry. Maybe check with Canon?

I love this lens. It might be the best value lens on the market. I think its better than both the canon and nikon 70-300mm lenses.

@Failingromeo It certainly feels the goods - I look forward to testing it out.

Take the tamron zoom direct to the moon, than you know the different. Full moon iso100~200, 320ss~420, f5.6. handheld.
