this sounds very healthy, much more down-to-earth... if road salt is gonna be like i think the band are dragging their huge potential into the right direction.
@jorninorion I wouldn't think a Pain of Salvation listener would waste time replying to YouTube comments. They're probably always studying Philosophy or something related, to seem more intellectual than the others. :)

I think Road Salt will be mega awesome. I listened through Linoleum and it's very promising. I love the sound, sounds very vintage and very genuinely 70s. I'm a keyboard player, so I love hearing those hammonds, rhodes and mellotrons and stuff. Vocally it's Daniel, can't go wrong. Leo's drums are amazing. Songs are catchy, atmosphere is very shivery.
I love it, and I think I'll love Road Salt very much!
Then again, I grew up listening Queen. But I don't count that as a bad thing.
Daniel Gildenlöw learned how to compose great songs during his lifetime... and then he said "now that I learned how to do great stuff, I'm gonna do bad stuff just for fun". He seems to be having LOTS of fun.
@lelobm Well since they are on stage rocking im pretty sure they aren't going anywhere, nor do I think they will lose any sleep over your opinion. A band is only "over" if they are playing stuff they dont want to play, and they seem pretty into it. Nice kneejerk reaction though.....

What do you mean? I'm just talking about the music. The riffs are simple and boring and unoriginal. That's what I don't like. I didn't really like the linoleum EP either... But whatever... I still have the old albums which I love, apart from Scarsick which also was a step in the wrong direction for me...
I'm sure I'll get -6 thumbs down too but I agree with you.
I actually liked Scarsick (as opposed to most people that dislike modern PoS)- tracks like Scarsick grew on me, and I always liked Kingdom of Loss, Enter Rain and a couple of others, but I don't think I'll enjoy Road Salt a great deal.
The first 4 PoS studio albums are in a league of their own, especially TPE and RL. Road Salt is sounding like it'll be the most mainstream of the lot (not that thats hard in comparison).
I love all PoS too. It's not that I'm not critical and don't expect highly of this band in specific. They're my favourite band, no doubt and I'm just about a fanboy. But I didn't force myself to like Scarsick or Linoleum or any other album. It was all either something I instantly enjoyed or gave a little time but at no point discarded because it always sounded like there was at least some promise (and there's always a lot of depth).

Naah.., you missed the point. He aims to have that 70s vibe.Clearly that's where he wants go in the next album.
It's catchy, funky and pyschedelic..I'd LOVE to have that complex, eerie and epic POS we loved. But it is good he likes to explore.

This is a great song.. kinda like foo fighters.. i'm sure the new direction of POS will leave us stunned as usual..

in Daniel's words, it will be 70s on stereoids. For todays standards, sure 70s sound mainstream.
I don't think it's a bad thing if done properly..
Linoleum has great moments..
