Great song by Elvis popularized by The Drifters many years earlier. This broke up the somber tone of the religeous sessions that produced the "How Great Thou Art" album, along with "Come What May." Nice choice of videos. Thanks for sharing.
Was there an earlier version? It's tricky to find it here because the title is a subset of the "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" (best known version of that is by Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers).
Love this song & can't believe that it didn't make it in the charts. I totally agree with the comment from bosoxx44 about new generations being able to enjoy the magic that is Elvis. I also agree with the comment from ElvisSacramento that no-one could ever match Elvis, he was one of a kind & always will be. When I'm feeling a little down, I only have to listen to his music & I'm lifted into high spirits. Thank you Elvis.Hope that his music lives on forever
As a rock and roll song I give this a B+, but as an Elvis song I can only give it a B-, because we're so used to him being on another level. This is a base hit up the middle, and maybe it drives a run home, but it's not a home run.
Elvis The King of Music. The only singer able to sing in different styles of music. If it was not for Elvis, singers and bands like Michael Jackson, Beatles and others would have never existed. Jacksons and the Beatles did not had a good voice, but because of Elvis era when the world was looking for more Elvis type singers, they became famous. long Live The King! ELVIS PRESLEY. Love from Iran.
I love that song but feel Elvis could have remade it at a slower tempo and with a greater vocal. Alot of his studio cuts from '66, I feel, were not Elvis at his best.
Favorite Elvis albums: Elvis Is Back; Pot Luck; Elvis For Everyone; From Elvis In Memphis.
I wanna hear a slow version like in the musical All Shook Up where the character Natalie sings this. It was so beautiful! But aint nothing like the original! ^__^
Thank you Jackie! This IS the definitive version. I`m 64 and now I know of no one who doesn`t love the KING! With you around new generations will be able to enjoy his magic. John J LOL
Written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Elvis recorded it May 28, 1966 at RCAs Nashville studios. The single release did not chart, but was listed as Bubbling Under at #102 for five weeks. It was the B-side to Fools Fall in Love. It is available on I Got Lucky and From Nashville to Memphis-The Essential 60s Masters.
This is such a very marvelous, fun and underrated song. Elvis easily has the very best rendition of it. Elvis will always be the King of music, entertainment and pop culture. There's no possible way that anyone can ever duplicate or match Elvis. Elvis was and will always be a true one of a kind. I'm so very happy that you're back here at youtube Jackie. You're a true Elvis fan and Elvis would be extremely proud of you. This video was absolutely magical in every way, 10 Stars as always Jackie.

Love this song, and never knew Elvis did it first! I had heard it by some country signer.
So this was cool - but OH my, that instrumental bridge! What IS that instrument? Freaky!

Great choice by Elvis. Not exactly commercial for the time and his boice sounds a bit strained...but it's still Elvis!

@ensconse His voice doesn't sound strained at all.
