  • Utter magnificent magic!

  • Good play but nothing to do with whoever is WHITE or not!

  • Makes me proud to be white

  • @tobbems-It's simply unfair to compare two different musicians playing two different musical genres. Besides, I would have thought that you would have compare Heifetz to Jimmy Page, who used a violin bow to play electric guitar in a band named Led Zeppelin.. Eddie Van Halen is a fine rock guitarist and philanthropist in the Los Angeles area. He donated 75 of his own guitars to public schools just today. Heifetz is arguably the finest violinist who ever lived. Perspective is "key," my friend...

  • *Old joke from an Interlochen Summer.

  • Despite Heifetz being the best, you're still third best in the world. And everyone one other than you is tied at second.

  • :)

  • i remember a picture of mr Heifetz with Erick Friedman, one link to the english page of wikipedia on Erick Friedman, there was a picture of them both, but Heifetz looked really really old in that picture, it's so offputting to know that after you dedicate your entire life to developing fine motor skills you actually get to witness them leaving you slowly towards the end of your life

  • @tobbens van halen actually knew a lot and had to have some classical training. Eruption has some crazy sets of arpegios in it.

  • @emiliaconstance That's right. It is hard to believe that today, people only fight to be the best, the smarter and do not help each other.

  • We are all very fortunate that at his age his ear and mechanics are still very much in place. This in itself is a gift. Well done!

  • Wonderful, very played. Unfortunely he is not here anymore.

  • @rdneckable when playing a violin how do you know where the note is

  • @hallnoats4ever I think you could answer this. What do you think?

  • @rdneckable hummm, magic

  • @hallnoats4ever Hahahahaha xD, you are nice. But no, of course it is by the ear. Each note has a value ,and you learn when you start to play violin.

  • @rdneckable so when you read the sheet music the notes on the paper are telling you the sound of the notes in the song? and though memory and lots of practice you know that if i place my finger on the second string around this area I will get the sound the sheet music is telling me to get? Wow, that sounds difficult. I think I'll stick to the piano. lol

  • @hallnoats4ever Yes, but tell me, what is not difficult in the life?

  • you start when you r very young, a good teacher with a very good technique make you do that. When i started , how i started not even can remember.A good ear is very important to be able correct yourself, the rest is work , for the right hand and left hand. Is one of the most difficult things to do in this life. A good brain is necessary ,too and concentration. About talent let's not speak, this is the first in combination with love and passion

  • I love that look he gives the audience at the end, like "oh, you liked that huh?" !

  • I just spent an hour listening to his performances...cant get tired of it^^

  • wow

  • makes eddie van halen look like barney the dinosaur

  • he plays very fast

  • Comment removed

  • how old was he in this video?

  • maestro !

  • es presioso

  • flawless.

  • This MAN is a MAN that is unbelievably talented...NOT a Jew...NOT a German...NOT a Russian...I'm happy to have him perform for me...This statement from a MAN that not a Scotch-Irish

  • Not only is he a Jew, he is also a Russian. Russians are fairly well known for creating amazing violinists, from what I remember. I think he was born in the USSR, but I can't remember without actually looking it up. In any event, I don't care about his background all too much. The guy is absolutely brilliant -- he is probably the best violinist to have been recorded well.

  • I made a faulty statement :( kudos?

  • this makes me want to be old and play violin

  • metido ele não.. mas um exelente musico

  • He visto mejores interpretaciones pero….. no esta mal.

  • At the risk of doing what I hate and following a line of discussion irrelevant to the beauty and mastery I am witnessing in this video, I'm pretty sure that the states of being German and Jewish are not mutually exclusive. And on that line of questioning we are veering dangerously close to the Godwin's Law. I say: stop there and listen to something that is so beautiful it may be unique. Peace.

  • why every jewish violinist or pianist is so "special" ?

  • @batalion666

He's not even Jewish, he's German, what are YOU smoking?

  • @ptdrawoh he was great violinist yes he was a Jew yes

  • @batalion666 because jews are commited to educate and work hard on whatever they do. it's a major principle in the most jewish families. that's why they doing particular things so well.

  • @wowdanalise

I guess you meant that? Even considering other genius like Paganini and Vivaldi and such? Wow, Jascha Heifetz must be great. . .I'm going to listen to more of his playing. . .For this random violinist to pop up in the mozart playlist XD

  • He makes it look so easy..

Goes and try to play a violin

    ---> Snaps bow

  • This piece makes me want to run around in circles with a derpy expression of pure glee on my face!

  • Wow, he's gooood.. My dad and his friends listened to this, when they were young (once upon a time) ;) lol

  • good and a blessing to my ears, listening to this master of the violin. Mu

  • It's all in the bow. Apparentely.

  • @SecretTheatre By 'Apparentely' I meant, of course, 'apparently'. Many apologies for the confusion.

  • and, just for the record, Heifetz was a child prodigy himself.

  • Really Cool, i study violin...

Eih! Help me win the IPAD, just see this vídeo (down): IPAD

    youtube.com/watch?v=WM0DkJ4X8b4

  • Masterfully played! Love Heifetz.

  • Simply gourgeus! :´)

  • the facial expression he gives at 5:14 just makes me smile )

  • 他的左右手已经到了出神入化的地步了,,,我,我服了。

  • He is beautiful, I enjoy Mozart and he played it quite well. I think he would be the perfect Role Model for the youth who want to learn this type of music.

  • @neosyelk "quite well" means you can play it better?

  • @hedonism147 No, I do not know how to play it at all, I just think there re different people I am sure of, that could probably play better, but in a different style, there are also different opinions within each human mind on who may be the best, so that description can be best for majority.

  • @neosyelk i am yet to come across a wise man from your country.. !

  • @PIYUSH1188 Pardon me, what do you mean? I don't mean it in a rude way I promise...

  • @neosyelk hey no problemo.. there is a little option to video respond available if u can find some one who does nail it better you have the right to respond with a video like all of us do.. love , peace and more good music!

  • I am amazed at his speed which in no way hinders expression. He plays the rondo with both fire and a delicate manner. Of the 20th century violinist, everyone was compared to this man who raised the bar to a higher level. His example in performance continues to teach us all.

  • There is a HUGE gap in HELL waiting for the 140 people that disliked this AMAZING video

  • In his prime, nobody could touch Heifetz. Nobody.

  • Heifetz was not a great human being; he had two ex-wives and three children that hated his guts; such is the price of genius.

  • I never liked violin soloists . . . until I heard Heifetz.

On "Pearl" I have all his pre-WWII concerto recordings; check it out; you can hear his 1935 rendition of the Sibelius here on youtube along with him doing Beethoven with Toscanini and my own personal favorite, a 1939 recording of him doing the Brahms with Serge Koussevitzky and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

  • wow he looks very old now

  • @shirusubemonaku He is dead.

  • Comment removed

  • Is that brooks smith on the piano?

  • Too SHORT, but really good.

  • :OOOO

  • I always wanted to be a page turner. Where do you study for that?

  • @goodchessactor University of Turning Pages. It's located somewhere in Britain.

  • great

  • One word: WOW. period. : )

  • Heifetz was a legenderary Violinist.

  • 137 dislikes ? probably they are justin bieber fans

  • it seems as though some are unnaturally gifted, like this Heifetz here, he is amazing!

but dont forget the piano player. he is dead on and and extremely talented as well.

  • @DracoC47

The name of the pianist is Samuel Chotzinoff. =)

  • well...here he was "old"...lol.. i guess he was here 71 or something like that. i hope play the violin half of that good as here when im 71...

  • 0:56 a perfect portrait

  • Idol!!!

  • Idol!!!

  • Lietuvis, žmonės, lietuvis!!!! Pasididžiavimas!

  • @Milanele

    Kazin ar jis mokejo lietuviskai

  • geras;D

  • If you know who the accompanist is, could you put his name in the information box, please? This guy was superb.

  • hey no fair - piano dude gets a chair and a page turner.....Mr. Heifetz, next time demand for someone to massage your feet while you play...its only fair.

  • Trivia,,Guess what priceless and old valuable violin he is using!!!Very few of them still exist!!!

  • @GeraldoFubar Stradivarius

  • @rev21v3n4 It's a Guarneri del Gesu, not a Strad

  • @zigeunerviolin Thanks for the info! I was just taking a guess. I should have asked my sister who is a violin teacher and player for 45 years as she probably would have known.

  • Magnifique.

  • The man you all just saw was the best violinist the world has ever produced.

Look upon him with respect and admiration for he certainly deserves such.

  • @wowdanalise

    i must respectfully disagree.

    Justin Beiber.

Just kidding, but I like Gidon Kremer better.

  • @blkbeltmage

I suppose when violinists have reached their absolute peak as both Haifetz and Kremer have, it boils down to personal preference of an individuals style.

  • @wowdanalise The best of the recording age, but there might have been better ones in the past. I love his music, don't get me wrong, I listen to his versions of most pierces rather than anything else. But I just think he would be the second best violinist that ever lived.

You can probably fill in the name of the first.

  • @An0niempje

I would make the point of personal preference but we cannot listen to the work of those passed.

Anyways, my opinion is admittedly biased so I really cannot speak fairly on the subject.

  • @wowdanalise Of course, that's why I say "I think". That means I'm only speaking about personal opinion.

  • @An0niempje Paganini no objection greatest violinist ever

  • @rebirthofgodrics907 You are probably right, but it's a shame we will never hear him play.

  • @wowdanalise Paganini was better. Probably.

  • @HerlockSholmes123 How would you know? Unless you have heard a recording of Paganini himself playing? I doubt so.

  • @DollarTrading Yes, I actually own a time machine and I went back in time to listen to Paganini and he was way better than Heifetz. Can you disprove this statement? No, you can't.

  • Comment removed

  • @wowdanalise

I am sorry to disappoint you ... but Paganini himself was the best violonist the world has ever produced

But i guess this guy is the second best

HAHAHA ... its not a shame though ...

  • @Audi0Phil

    Really?

I would love to hear a recording of Paganini playing, have you got one? I think not since he died in 1840!!

Undoubtedly, he was a marvel and probably the best up until then, but all we have are his compositions and accounts of how good he was...

I seriously doubt that he would be nearly as good as Heifetz!!

  • @Audi0Phil Heifetz is most well known for playing out of tune lol

  • @wowdanalise AGREED!

  • @wowdanalise Word!!

  • you'd think the music emanates from his fingers itself, the way it flows...true SKILL

  • The master himself in another flawless rendition. Definitely 20th century's greatest violinist.

  • I think I broke the "like" button O.o

  • @EyrieKun

    well, its working for me.

  • talk about bow technique

  • Flawless

  • I started to swoon during the dolce part. He plays the whole piece gorgeously. Sure the notes are easy, but to put that much emotion and technique into a piece is hard. One day I hope to play like him.

  • JESUS CHRIST >=O

  • Heifetz was impressed by the pianist. What better recommendation.

  • Does anyone play the mirror image? Right hand on the strings and left on the bow?

  • @nearenough3 Well, Paul McCartney does and you raised a good point; I would think that the fret hand would naturally be more attuned to the right-handed rather than as the bowing or plucking hand.

  • heifetz is the definitive violinist

  • I don't get how anybody could dislike an all-time master at this instrument. Oh well, fools are fools, and I guess we should just let them be fools. At least they're good at that.

  • definitivamente ese wey es la verdura jajajajaj

  • what BS about 'no one being able to surpass him' kids now-a-days can play as well as him if not better .... no big deal just a matter of practice. Dont belive all those BS comments ppl make

  • Um yeh there might be 4 year old kids out there playing unbelievable stuff, but you have to live a life to know how music is supposed to feel and put emotion in it. Masters are masters because they have listened and studied for lifetimes. These young kids, they will no doubt grow up to be some of the most incredible players the world has seen, but to say that "kids now adays" play better shows an ear thats only listening to beats per minute, not the music itself. Maturity in playing is acquired

  • @amenhotep84 EXATCTLY its just like having a mustache!! YOU HAVE TO EARN IT!!! or it will just be silly peach fuzz! only an experienced man can wear a mustache proudly LOLOLOL

  • @amenhotep84 Amen to that! Very well put.

  • @amenhotep84 PREACH!! That was so very well put! There are quite a few young violinist that I really like but I will always LOVE Heifetz for that very reason!

  • @fugly75 Are you saying that many high school kids are smarter than Pythagoras or Euclid because they can do calculus? The common knowledge of a heliocentric planetary system does not make you smarter than Ptolemy. Likewise, there's a world of difference between being able to mimic a complex sequence of sounds and the genius it takes to be author of that composition.

  • @fugly75 It's not bullshit; no one can play like Heifetz; they all pale beside him (except for maybe Nathan Milstein).

I never liked solo violin until I heard his records.

  • can't the pianist go faster?!

  • @stupidstorm you got to feel bad for the pianist... Heifitz can do whatever at whatever speed it is up to the piano to keep up

  • GREATEST ...... ALL TIME..

  • Is it just me or did anyone hear the pianist rushing all the time?

  • is he using his Guarnieri?

  • Is this guy Samvel Yervinyan's father?

  • That was just flawless.

  • It's like watching Jordan play basketball or hogan play golf. You folks have to see him play Pagnini Caprice #24. Was Pagnini designing musice to kill Violinist. p.s I know zero about the violin just know greatness when I see it....and Jascha is great!!!!!

  • damn look at those fingers fly!

  • Very strong ending. overall, he achieved perfection

  • It went

Jascha Heifetz --> Isaac Stern --> Itsthak Perlman

    The three amigowitz's LOL

  • He was and still is the greatest violinist.

  • is he in a hurry to catch a bus to go home or what?

  • Damn, this guy has skills

  • I find it funny and extremely humbling to consider that I'll only ever be comparable to the guy sitting next to the piano player, just flipping the pages, privileged to be allowed to listen to Heifetz.

  • ugh have to play this song for my high school exam... lol im planning for a 100% lol

  • @TheFloutist Wait, will you sing or play ?? If play, then "song" is something different, my friend ...

  • Mozart like the mentally impaired' is never boring.

  • Cool

  • @brofilms101 Maybe, but when it comes to musicality, passion, soul and lyrical attitude, I like most of other violinist much more .. And no - it is not in the body movements or non-movements ...

  • People keep talking about who was the best, etc, etc. Milstein and Perlman are on recod as saying that Heifetz was the best. So if someone says Milstein or Perlman was the best, they (Milstein and Perlman) would disagree with him. I play the violin and listen to lots of violinists, and in my opinion no one can match Heifetz in terms of tone, intonation, technical skills, bowing, overall package.

  • I love this grand man.

  • @ericgable I agree!

  • INCREDIBLE. how the hell did he get that good?!?!?!? love this video!

  • Stop practicing now. You'll never be this good.

  • @DonJulioBlanco2002 well, we can try and get close!

  • Comment removed

  • Very nice !!!

  • Grande fete!

  • wHY NO LoVE BUTTIN :D!

  • SO awesome :)

  • holy shitt :) so good!

  • I picked up some RCA Living Stereo SACDs of him playing Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and other concertos and it is pretty amazing for 55-year-old recordings.

  • I have sat enthralled for the last 2 days listening this performance. We get to enjoy a lifetime of dedication and hard work that is behind this effort. That is not to slight the brilliance of Mozart either. As aspiring violinists we listen with awe at what is possible. It is both inspiring a bit discouraging, but I'll pickup my violin and press on tomorrow. I notice with interest the slim delicate fingers of Heifetz as opposed to the stubby fingers of Pearlman, both accomplished violinists.

  • RAJON BY MOZART

  • Hats off the the pianist for keeping up. Absolutely fantastic - thanks for uploading.

  • 海飛茲的琴功~實在棒~阿偉~台灣~

  • 1:38 is so expressive... :)))))) LOOOVE

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • date?

  • Im playing this for my exam :D :D :D

  • I just started violin... O.O this scares me...

  • @Boblett285 never let it scare you you keep playing and you can be as good as you want to be keep at it and never give up

  • @Boblett285 Don't worry! Keep practicing and you can learn this piece too! Look up Niccolo Paganini that scares everyone.

  • @Boblett285 LOL...ahaha...don't worry about it...this is where you would be if you have godlike skill and work really hard at it, i started violin like... 4 and a half years ago, it's awesome, and is more beautiful than piano imo

  • @qwklzx How long you been playing?
