ya the gt 500 doesn't handle as well but can deff run with a zo6 just because it says 505 hp it doesnt dyno to that. I have an 08 that I ran with a zo6 and won not by much but did. most zo6 drivers are poppin Viagra pills while driving and don't know how to race
This just shows how important a good driver is... Z06's can run 11's without very intuitive hands at the wheel... This Z06 ran what a horrible driver in a GT500 would run. How ever the guy in the GT500 actually knows what hes doing... Pair of DR's and he would have that sucker running high 11's. Theres a guy on here that runs a completely bone stock Z06 on street tires at an 11.02 in the 1/4. Its all about the driver :)

Did you really just say that a GT500 is better aerodynamically then a Vette? There is no stock GT500 running 3.5 0-60. They run 3.9-4.0 to 60 with a very skilled driver on street tires. You probably also don't know theres a difference between the Super Snake and GT500 either. So I'll just stop telling you how wrong you are.
Talk about a bad driver lol. It is actualy hard to run that slow in a Z06. My first time ever taking my car to the track I ran an 11.77 @ 121 and that was on runflats that were to the wear bars and a DA over 2000. I glazed my clutch on one of my burnouts and ran a 12.44 even with my clutch slipping. Anyways, Z06's are good for mid to low 12's even with a bad driver. A good driver puts them mid to low 11's.
for the 80grand in the vette and the 50grand in gt500 thats 30grand to play with the cgt500 would rape a ford gt and zr1 bigger supercharger straight pipe pulleys 10grand right there and 200 more hp

I have drove many many other sports cars so im a good driver, and when drove aginst my friend in a drag race the shelby by 1 second, and in drag racing time that is a HUGE difference. I think the Shelby had a smaller pully for sure, They sound completley different with te smaller pulley and if you watch him shift into 2nd he lets the nose diver pretty hard which slows your1/4 pretty good and still pulled off a 12.2, so I say not stock. Now the Z06 running a 12.9 thats just a bad driver. that's a easily a high 11 second car. I love the Shelbys though the motor can handle tons of abuse, I mean you could have an easy 850HP on stock motor, which I doubt you could in a Z06.
Are you saying that you wouldn't normally hear the supercharger stock? It has an Eaton blower on it stock and while the Eaton I have on my car is smaller you still definitely hear it when your in boost.

That was an '07 GT 500 they only make 500 (about 475 at the wheels if I recall) stock. The 2008 GT 500 KR made 540 and the 2010 GT 500s are supposed to make 540 as well, but not the 07-09 base GT 500. Even as a ford guy i agree this match-up was won because the Vette driver screwed up.

Very true- A 2008-09 GT Mustang can def break the 5 sec barrier 0-60. There a several different guys on BONE STOCK ford 5.4Ltr (That's only 330 CI for you Bow Tie boys) reaching WELL OVER 1000 HP AND they engines actually STAY TOGETHER! What a concept... Try that with a production LS1,2,3,6 or 7. You'd be picking up crank bearings all over the track. The all have there high's and low's.
I can tell you this, because I have driven both that the Z06 has way better handling, but the GT500 has much better performance, almost to the point of being overpowered.

Its definitely not overpowered, it's not balanced out in all areas as proposed to the z06. The Gt-500 has a powerful engine but the suspension, drive-train, tire height and most of all, weight, plays a huge roll in why it feels or drives to the point where it feels overpowered. Great looking car but it's just unbalanced and big.
It isn't stock, you can hear the smaller pulley running atleast 12psi. $900 in mods and it takes down a car just about twice it's price, pretty cool eh.
The z06 is definitely not even near twice the price. Around 50000 for the Gt-500 and z06 68000. The vette gets better MPGs,has better handling,and it can run a 11.7,"with more trunk space lol" ,stock tires, naturally aspirated. The Gt-500 is a straight line performance car and that is about it for the Ford. The vette is a better buy. You don't hear about how the Gt500 makes Ferrari buyers second guess what they just spent their fortune on..you hear it all the time from the z06, "pretty cool eh".
All things aside, I think the Z06 is bad ass and I am proud of america for both cars, wish we had more. I would never buy a Z06 for the 2 seater reason alone, all I did was point out that shelby with a really cheap mod can beat a two seater costing 20K more.
It beat the two seater because the z06 has a poor driver. The z06 is capable of running mid 11's. It would take alot more than a really cheap to make a nearly 4,000lb mustang to outrun a 3,150lb two seater. This video is bias due to the crappy driving of the z06.

The reason Chevy's engines are producing so much more horsepower is because of direct injection. A better comparison would be Ford's Ecoboost V6 213 cubic inches @ 415hp, given that it is a twin turbo.
fords ecoboost puts out 365bhp and thats kinda pathetic for having TWO turbochargers and so what if chevy uses direct injection u get more power which is somthing the brick on wheels ford calls the mustang could use
Let me rephrase, you can't actually hear "the pulley", you can hear the s/c screamin much louder than stock, which is usually a result of a pulley swap. I have an 08 GT500 with a 2.6" pulley, and anyone who has owned a stock shelby can tell instantly that it isn't stock. It is possible the blower was swapped for a whipple, kennebell, or frpp tvs. Or you could use common sense you could arrive at the same conclusion, a 4000lb car could never smoke a 3200lb car with the same power without mods

I think the Shelby had a smaller pully for sure, They sound completley different with te smaller pulley and if you watch him shift into 2nd he lets the nose diver pretty hard which slows your1/4 pretty good and still pulled off a 12.2, so I say not stock. Now the Z06 running a 12.9 thats just a bad driver. that's a easily a high 11 second car. I love the Shelbys though the motor can handle tons of abuse, I mean you could have an easy 850HP on stock motor, which I doubt you could in a Z06.

Are you saying that you wouldn't normally hear the supercharger stock? It has an Eaton blower on it stock and while the Eaton I have on my car is smaller you still definitely hear it when your in boost.

That was an '07 GT 500 they only make 500 (about 475 at the wheels if I recall) stock. The 2008 GT 500 KR made 540 and the 2010 GT 500s are supposed to make 540 as well, but not the 07-09 base GT 500. Even as a ford guy i agree this match-up was won because the Vette driver screwed up.

Very true- A 2008-09 GT Mustang can def break the 5 sec barrier 0-60. There a several different guys on BONE STOCK ford 5.4Ltr (That's only 330 CI for you Bow Tie boys) reaching WELL OVER 1000 HP AND they engines actually STAY TOGETHER! What a concept... Try that with a production LS1,2,3,6 or 7. You'd be picking up crank bearings all over the track. The all have there high's and low's.

I can tell you this, because I have driven both that the Z06 has way better handling, but the GT500 has much better performance, almost to the point of being overpowered.
I am a die hard Chevy fan,and that is all I drive but that vid is fact..... sorry guys, but it needed to be said, and that is a regular GT500, not the KR

Its definitely not overpowered, it's not balanced out in all areas as proposed to the z06. The Gt-500 has a powerful engine but the suspension, drive-train, tire height and most of all, weight, plays a huge roll in why it feels or drives to the point where it feels overpowered. Great looking car but it's just unbalanced and big.

It isn't stock, you can hear the smaller pulley running atleast 12psi. $900 in mods and it takes down a car just about twice it's price, pretty cool eh.

The z06 is definitely not even near twice the price. Around 50000 for the Gt-500 and z06 68000. The vette gets better MPGs,has better handling,and it can run a 11.7,"with more trunk space lol" ,stock tires, naturally aspirated. The Gt-500 is a straight line performance car and that is about it for the Ford. The vette is a better buy. You don't hear about how the Gt500 makes Ferrari buyers second guess what they just spent their fortune on..you hear it all the time from the z06, "pretty cool eh".

Its still crap handling even compared to the 80's F-bodies, the z06 is the better performance car over any mustang. The only competitor to it from Ford is the Ford-GT, which is 140,000, and go ahead and spend 50,000 on a mustang that runs high 12's, you could buy a c5 z06 for less and mop the floor with any mustang in all departments.....pretty cool eh?

Fords V6 is 245 cubic inches @ 210hp
Fords V8 is a 281 cubic inches @ 300hp
Chevy's V6 is a 217 cubic inches @ 304hp
Chevy's V8 is a 376 cubic inches LS3 @ 426hp
The reason Chevy's engines are producing so much more horsepower is because of direct injection. A better comparison would be Ford's Ecoboost V6 213 cubic inches @ 415hp, given that it is a twin turbo.

Let me rephrase, you can't actually hear "the pulley", you can hear the s/c screamin much louder than stock, which is usually a result of a pulley swap. I have an 08 GT500 with a 2.6" pulley, and anyone who has owned a stock shelby can tell instantly that it isn't stock. It is possible the blower was swapped for a whipple, kennebell, or frpp tvs. Or you could use common sense you could arrive at the same conclusion, a 4000lb car could never smoke a 3200lb car with the same power without mods
