  • Wow, what a fantastic movie. <3 one thing that bugs me just a little though... what about Patrick Dempsy?

  • Here's what pisses me off cause im angry as fuck!

If President Wilson was reluctant to give a speech supporting sufferage to women that had to be convincing and compassionate...was ot so hard for him to just do that in the first damn place...?

    AFTER ALL THAT!!

WAS THAT ALL NESSESARY TO LET YOUR WOMEN THAT YOU DONT MIND BAREBACKING 2B SO SELFISH!

    FUCKING ASSHOLE!

  • @DragonflyNoir10 thnx dragonflynoir10 i was watching this movie in social studies class and i love it!!!!!

  • Beautiful movie

  • Robbie Grenberg did a FUCKING SUPERB JOB! with the cinematgraphy!

    Incredibly Vibrant & Gorgeous!

  • I love this movie so much. I can't thank you enough for putting this up.

  • ohh and does anyone know the name of the song playing at the end of the movie ?

  • @FaShiioNistaChiq It's called Beautiful (7' Canny Mix) by Mandalay

  • i love this movie soo much. it makes me cry everytime andt it's a constant reminder to me of how much people went through for me. im an african american woman so with this said i have alot of people to thank, my ancestors that came before me and these women who stoodup so i'd never be stood on. you are ALL appreciated. im so interested in everything feminist that i in fact made my minor gender studies. <3

  • every time the women start to sing i cry...............this is the 5th time i have seen it

  • Why is this not available for mobile while the others are?

  • Good movie. Shed a few tears I won't lie. All women need to realize their true potential and never settle for what society says you can't do. =)

  • @xloveXghoulx Bless. you.

  • This movie is incredible, we need to stand up fore our rights, we will never get them just siting and waiting, we all need to make an effort so it'll mater, there are still woman out there how need our help! so we all can stand equal to the men. Now the president is black and that's greet, but will it be time when a woman could stand as the president of United States of America?

don't be fouled of what you see outside, women are still at war,we get less money and sometimes we are looked down on!

  • i bet the telegram said that she was going to whoop his ass if he didn't say yes lmfao. excellent movie, i needed to see it for class. thank you for uploading it! (:

  • Thank you........

  • woo

  • Thank you! I watched this film many years ago and enjoyed it, but did not know so much about the movement. I just took an American History course with women's emphasis and we learned about the suffrage movement. I decided to supplement the unit with this film. I found that Katja von Garnier did a wonderful job with her accuracy and directing. I've always loved her films! Thank you for posting. I have a new appreciation for the movement and will never miss another opportunity to vote, again!

  • Miss Representation will be aired on OWN Oct. 20th.

  • @bettyh1100 I didn't know that. That's wonderful.

  • @DragonflyNoir10 I am looking forward to seeing it and it's my hope that many will do the same.

  • I can't thank you enough for posting this movie....I'm going to twist the arms of some young girls I know and make them watch and learn....there could be a spark from one of them. It seems to me that the fight is near dead...yet how can it be dead?

  • @bettyh1100 You're very welcome! I posted this movie for that very purpose. The fight is ongoing, until equality is achieved. There is another movie that you should see, that's a bit more relevant to today's issues called "Miss Representation".There's a few clips of it on YouTube. Please check it out, and let me know what you thought!

  • They all look so pale and dead .... i bet if they went a bit longer ... they could have died ... Thank God for them , without them we wouldnt have the freedom we have now ... and most people take it granted ....

  • @DragonflyNoir10 Thanks :]

  • 91st anniversary!

  • tell me where is michael O'brien? which part scene was found him ? highlight time which michael is here. man in crowd # 2

  • Does anybody know what the telegram said.?

  • @elena30105 I wrote a review for this movie on amazon.com that had this bit of trivia. It was a telegram from the mother of Harry Burn, Febb King Ensminger Burn, caster of the deciding vote where she urged her son to vote for ratification.

  • I got a message that told me that gays only want rights to take advantage of it. Well let me tell you something we need trust and people to know that we want equality. The right to call the person our husband or wife and take care of them and the ones we love when it is needed. I will tell you this if you think that its ok but please educate yourself before you truly decide your stand. We dont want perks we just want the same rights as every married person gets. LET OUR LOVE BE VALID

  • @mexfan25 Well said!

  • That may say Tennessee state house, but it looks alot like the Virginia state house interior.

  • When will our day come??? When will all of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people of America finally get all the rights and protections they deserve? We are still fighting our fight.......Please America, Lets us be free.

  • @GAYPRIDE1985 DOnt worry the day will come people will change as long as we show the pain and the true that we always feel. We are people that just want what should be ours but like many before us. We should show them the nice way our pains they force on us. So dont give up hope we still have a chance. We will not change people just allow them o see a new world. A world of LOVE

  • I love this movie soo much! It's just so inspiring and a power message to women!

  • i love dhis movie thanx for putting up =)

  • What the telegram said: "Dear Son, Boy I spent years changing your diapers, feeding you, clothing you, and cleaning up after you. If you don't vote yes on this bill I'm goin' come into that courthouse and so help me God I will beat your ass baboon red in front of all of your little friends. - Your loving Mother xoxo."

  • Why can't I watch this last part on iPhone?!?!?!

  • every woman should be required to see this......especially Those women who Fight against the Equality of Others.....ie: CWA - these women from back then would Roll over in thier graves if they knew the Bullshit the supposed Concerned WOmen of America Spew hatred and Bigotry!

  • what happened in part 11?

  • what is innapropriate about part 11/12?

  • @AshPasierb I would assume that the force-feeding they do to keep the women from dying and becomeing martyrs is considered too graphic.

  • is this a rl story?

  • @ivy161521116 yes. Alice Paul was a real suffragist. In fact, to make this movie acurate, one of these women suffragists died in the prison. Not Alice, but one of the older ladies. Sadly it took until 1920 for the last necessary ratification by tennesee. The last state to ratify the 19th amendment was mississippi in 1984.

  • Amazing movie!

  • Revelution will not be televised for woman or man Good Movie a must see

  • I respect the brave women ! They were great !

  • I think President Wilson was a REALLY COWARD ! How shame he was ! How could he treat American women like that ! Bullshit !

  • I pray the fight the women fought is equally share with African-Americans, even thu they were brought in this nation as slaves but they help to built the nation equally as the whites did and so they derseve an equal share of all "natural rights" that belongs to human beings. There get to be total change for equal liberty for all Americans regardless of color, creed, or social status.

  • oh god, so many tears.

  • Purple, for the royal blood in every suffragist's veins, White for the purity in private and public life, and Green for hope and spring. Emmeline Pankhurst chose these colours for the WSPU(Women's Social and Political Union)

  • I really like this movie..however, I don't like the fact that they put modern day music into a film that is set in world war 1.

  • i wonder what the telegram said

  • @lolrshiizzle1 the telegram says " Be a good boy, say yes!"

  • @soccaroca14

    who do you know!?

  • Thank you very much for a lucky opportunity to see this interesting movie.

  • I seriously adore this movie! It shows how everybody is equal regardless of your skin or gender and also that women can do anything they want as long as they their hearts and minds to it :)

  • While I am more than happy we women finally got to vote, I find it incredibly lame that the government had to use war as an excuse.

  • This movie is amazing! These women were amazing!

  • This movie was by far was amazing in every detail. It makes me think how could anyone ever be so small minded about everything. These women are the ones that birthed you, raised you, fed you, and shown you unconditional love. But then you dont want to show them the respect they deserve by giving them a right that empowers them? We have come a long way as Americans, but we still got a long way to go. But it only takes one individual to create a domino effect for change, lets keep on going America

  • i just cried

  • 6:34 in blue[: me<3

  • I personally LOVE this movie. Saw it in my History class and i just simply loved it. Shows how us women can be just as strong and bold, even though they always try to bring us down in any way. And Wilson can suck my snatch lmao

  • @fastma28 Me too my teacher showed it last year & i fall over heels for it!!

  • The letter to the person said that if he didn't vote for the 19th amendment he wasn't allowed to ever come home.

  • 1:20 BS Wilson! We all know they are the reason your doing this, them and the fact they managed to get their story published about how they were treated in prison.

  • 0 dislikes. just the way i like it

  • thank you for posting this

  • such a beautiful movie :')

  • I'm pissed at myself for being born in 1991 and never getting a chance to be a part of this movement/meeting Alice Paul!

I got chills watching this part! It makes me so freaking proud to be a woman because even though I am a foreigner who became a citizen when I moved to the U.S., it makes me so proud to know that these amazing women fought not only for themselves, but for ME also! Any girl in the U.S., no matter what your political views are, should look up to them! I know I do!

  • What happened with Patrick Dempsey??

  • This, too is a work of ART, like The Great Debaters, in the art of living Truth

Respect for those who walked before

thank-you for sharing this artistry of truth

  • This is a great movie!

I watched it today in my U.S history class and I really liked it. My favorite part is when the women start singing.

  • I really don't think a thank you is enough for having you post this, but I suppose I will give a measly thank you anyway. This video is one that every woman across the country and the world should see, because we can't forget about those women who suffered a great ordeal to get where we stand today. To them it was all about their children being able to be free, to have a voice, and we do. So I will spread the word of this monumental movie. You are truly a hero for posting this for all to see.

  • @drummergirl015

"This video is one that every woman across the country and the world should see"

and every man like me, every human. :)

  • @iamagodX yes of course! lol. I didn't mean to sound sexist, if it came across like that. But it's just a really empowering story, and I think it will move anyone, man, woman, whoever watches it. So thanks for correcting me! =)

  • @drummergirl015

Oh, I know you weren't. I just felt strangely empowered too and wanted included :D. It's all good. :)

  • One of the best movies ever. thank you very much for posting it. I had to watch it for my Govt class so thanks..

  • Great movie!! Women of that time went through hell. Thank God for their courage. I couldn't imagine what the US would be like now, had these women given up. So powerful!!

  • I only hope what these women were fighting for finally gets done! A Constitutional Amendment is needed to protect women's rights! Equal Rights Amendment!

  • i wonder what the 'grandma letter' is all about.

  • Best movie ever. I could watch it a thousand times. Thanks for posting.

  • This reminds me of what is going on right now. Same-sex marriage. Some might not think it's as important, but why shouldn't someone be allowed to marry who they love? it hurts no one.

  • I am African American and I have never seen a great movie like this that had a separation between white women and minorities but it was uplifting because they stood up for all women. . i saw it in my class and the men was enjoying it as well..this movie was about to me not just voting rights but being treated as equal not just house wives. they have paid the way for women workers today. thank you Alice Paul and Ida B. Wells.

  • GREAT MOVIE!!! Inspirational...

  • lol i need to see what his mama said to him. he looked just like one of those kids who be acting a fool and then their mother whisper something in their ear and the child's attitude do a 180 and they are suddenly well behaved.

  • the movie is just great. i think EVERYONE should watch it. especially these young women who think it was unsexy to be a feminist and to fight for equality. we just want (like they wanted) to think, speak and act free. i just can't believe how many women are so stupid today to not appreciate what they did. this just did not happen so long ago!

  • Glorious, Glorious, Glorious.

A Superb Series on HBO.............. a TRUE Testimony of a REAL struggle.

Truly Glorious. Your Gay Comrades thank you and applaud you.

  • My niece(who was 16 or 17 at the time) had a history teacher who said once during class when they were learning the US amendments, "One of the biggest mistakes that the US government ever did was give women the right to vote." This of course infuriated my liberal-minded niece and told that teacher off which thanks to Alice Paul and all the suffragettes gave her the right to speak her mind. Remind me, what century are we living in again?

  • I love the part when theyare at the movies and Swank's character Alice keeps talking to Lucy and Inez, and the guy behind her says to please stop talking. And she said, "My sister's blind, I have to read the titles to her." Then when they go to leave Inez grabs Alice's face pretending to be blind.

  • GREATEST MOVIE EVER I cried!! just amazing thank you soooo much for posting

  • Wow, what a beautiful movie!

  • I kinda wished thre would've been a kiss

  • @123kooful: Trying to re-write history? Indeed. What if, there was much more kissing in this world instead of fighting?

  • Omg I saw this in history class earlier. I thought it was great!! I could watch it again and again

  • Why did he change? What did that guy's mum have to say?!

  • I want to kno too

  • @Aimee2959 she basically told him to support women's suffrage

  • very powerful... Thanks for posting, i saw some of this in history class, but idk if they were going to continue it....Again, thanks

  • Thank you to ALL the WOMAN that gave all of the girl and woman the right to VOTE THANK YOU

  • watched this in my hist, class... GREAT MOVIE!

  • The GREATEST movie of all time, every American should see this movie, men and women.

  • WOW! GREAT MOVIE!

  • Amazing. I am so thankful to these women.

  • so happy about my vagina and overies.

    XD

on a serious note, woman rule.

  • What a beautiful film. Alice Paul is one of my heros.

  • God... its great to be a woman!

  • whats the song at 6:30 ?

  • The song is...Beautiful (7' Canny Mix) by Mandalay

  • How about no Girl or Man power. Just power to the people. Is that too much to ask for?

  • @Disneyworld99: Now you are getting the point of the feminist movement.

  • @Disneyworld99 Yes. Because women are still not treated equally in this country, not to mention the treatment of women around the world. When equality is achieved there will no longer be a need for gender-specific power. But alas, today is not that day.

  • @Disneyworld99 Hell yah we are all people and it is about time we are treated like it.

  • This is my new favorite movie, no second thoughts. :-)

  • Makes me feel so proud, so incredibly honored to be a woman. POWER TO THE WOMEN!!

  • Girl Power all the way! .. Angelica Huston Rocks :D

  • this move always gives me the chills i consider myself to be a strong willed 16 year old and i can truthfully say these women are my heroes they stood up for what they believed in every day until they made a difference i only hope i can do sme thing as equally important in my life.

  • Let hope that what was done to women is able to be given to all gays in this nation. That one day the goverment sees our love equal to any and grants us the rights that many already have.

Women getting the vote is wonderful

and so is Gay Love or Straight love

  • @mexfan25 hell yeah!!

  • @mexfan25 I thought about this heavily too. I can't agree more. I would be willing to fight for gay rights 100%

  • @mexfan25 Amen.

  • @mexfan25 Thank you for saying that. I'm gay. It means a lot

  • @mexfan25 - Amen!!!!!

  • GIRL POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is an amazing movie! i think it makes us grateful for the women who would stop at nothing to allow us the right to vote. thank you so much for posting this inspirational movie!

  • Yes! Thank you soooo much. I will be sending this link to my daughter...

  • thanks for sharing this movie. this movie should have been shown in theaters! very inspirational.

  • what did the telegram say??

  • @barkpeeler2000

It is a true story. The telegram came to him in the middle of the vote and was from his mother, who was on her deathbed. It said something to the extent of "Be a good boy and do the right thing". Haha. :)

  • The gays will be next.

It will start with a repeal of DADT. Obama is to gays what Wilson was to women. History repeats itself.

  • GOOD

  • loved it ,what a powerful movie :)

  • The Best Movie Ever!

  • what's the name of the song at the end?

  • although it does suck that she doesn't get the guy, coincidentally she never marries. however this movie is about women's suffrage. the women's desperate struggle to earn their right to vote. Alice Paul never married because after the 19th amendment was passed she continued and pushed for the equal right's movement all the way until her death in 1977. i am a male and Alice Paul is my hero, well heroine. she fought until the end. I'm so proud to be related to her. she is purely amazing

  • This is an Amazing Film Very inspirational.

  • I don't think the movie is about alice and her love life with whats-his-name reporter...

  • This is dissapointing. She doesn't even see the guy at the end.

  • hi everyone..the song is

Mandalay - Beautiful (7' Canny Mix)..

    So Amazing!!!!

    Espero que curtam...

  • does anyone know what that last song is called?

  • worth watching, and f all the ignorant people out there. women never give up, never then never now.

  • Loved this movie

  • This was a very good movie i had to watch this in my history class very inspirational

  • Such a truly powerful film...beautiful.

  • This movie is great, yes thank you 4 putting this movie on Youtube! :)

  • Thank you so much for posting this movie! I really enjoyed learning more about our history and how women had and still have to deal with a lot of issues.

    Thanks! MPG

  • Oi gostaria muito de saber o nome desta musica do final...é belissima!!

  • thanks for uploading this movie, was definitely worth the watch.

  • the movie opened my eyes alot, i never knew that it was that hard to get what i take for granted everyday! most deff. an eye opener!

  • It was my pleasure. And I'm from Canada btw, but I find social justice messages transcend all borders.

  • It's 3:20 in the morning and my eyes are quite bleary, so perhaps you will forgive me if all that I can express is my firm agreement. Amazing.

  • It's a mond later en it's 4:22 in the morning. and all i can say is GREAT movie.. GREAT STORY!!!!
