  • whats with the Gary Numan (Are Friends Electric) lyrics at the end? i know weezer covered it but it was kind of a random end lol

  • awesome! sound is good ths time almst like a album version

  • Haha scott thought they were playing no other one cus he wasnt with them when they wrote either one = AWKWARD

  • i pictured when they recorded the original, them going crazy like their trying to play but at the same time destroy the song

  • i cream to cuomo daily

  • ฝรั่ง

  • "professional' is not an apt term. Every act is professional when they get paid. Perhaps a better word would be "heartfelt." I think weezer is as honest and good as ever!

  • try singing these songs for 15 years straight...lets see if u still got emotions in your voice

  • club penguin is tagged. amazing.

  • They lack the energy that they once had in the 90's. Aging does suck, doesn't it? :/

  • I recognize that guitar riff Brian plays near the beginning, but I can't put my finger on what song it is. Don't think it's a Weezer song, but something else from the 90s.

  • I don't know why I love this version so much, but I keep coming back to it. It's technically played very well, and that's to hard to play through a song like that in the studio. It's just a fun version to hear. The guitar parts are very easy to hear and pick apart. I love it.

  • Tight.

  • slower than pinkerton...no? pretty meh

  • sounds slower than pinkerton no?

  • I've been to shows where Rivers moved less than this. No need to clarify that.

  • So.Awesome:

  • @youman1996 I didn't call them lazy, just bored. If this is "professional" weezer and they weren't "professional" back when blue/pinkerton and a great amount of b-sides and rarities were released that are the foundation of this bands career. Give me the unprofessional band back. The one that was creative, original, had some emotion and balls. Not the band that has "grown up" into their 40's and sing about shopping in the mall or trippin' down the freeway. I'll take unprofessional weezer then.

  • @kristophertellez

Dude, read the notes below the video. it explains why they dont move and look bored. They are in the studio. If you have never recorded, it may seem a bit strange, but every band I have been in, no matter how we move on stage, has looked like this in the studio. Basically, you just do your best not to F up..haha

  • @kristophertellez I know what you mean, man. But they're not troubled 26 year olds anymore. Most rock bands lose their ballsiness when they get older. The exception to the rule still seems to be the Foo Fighters, but that's for a different discussion. As far as weez goes, I just wish their albums had more yelling and tons of noisy feedback; that's what makes Pinkerton roar so much!

  • Rivers, keep playing guitar please when you tour. Thank you.

  • please bring back this music and ditch the "hurley" and "ratitude" shit. oh and bring back matt sharp.

  • This is just pure class. Do doubt.

  • They seem bored. Like a cover band of there former selves.

  • @kristophertellez They aren't a lazy rock band anymore because for them, that's unprofessional. They grew up and are playing their song in a studio without trying to do fancy tricks and show off.

Dude most bands are like this in the studio.

  • @youman1996 I am very sure that Kristopher isn't just referring to this performance. Weezer is not the band they started out as.

  • @kristophertellez Agreed.

  • dude doesn't know the right intro to the song....cause he's not Matt Sharp..

  • jesus man - what a fuckin beautiful sound.

  • @TeeMontague Matt Sharp wrote this bass riff, it's from Pinkerton......but Scott is the man :)

  • i like ฝรั่ง on your guitar

  • See those lyrics, at 3:47? Those are the lyrics to "Are Friends Electric?", in case some of you didn't catch that.

  • Weezer fanboys who just complain about how bad they want Matt Sharp back is just annoying. MIKEY FTW!!!!

  • @BuddyRider In the video, there is Scott, not Mikey...

  • @emilLualdi I know haha i'm just saying. I like all the bass players, Scott is just my favorite

  • Shriner's bass riffs in this are wicked. Dude can play

  • The desperation has long left his voice.

  • @memoryhero Well, he's not as depressed and lonely as he was in the Pinkerton years. Of course he doesn't have any desperation left; he's living a happy life.

  • @memoryhero or this is a rehearsal and he's not wanting to destroy his voice for, y'know, a rehearsal.

  • @memoryhero fuck you, fuckin loser ass hatin ass sum bitchin ass hole

  • @717rch i think its time to embrace the truth...

  • @BlackHawkGaming I just don't like how everyone's a critic these days.

  • @717rch wwwellll... i guess in all honesty, as it seems, weezer is still an amazing band... .__. and i don't just say that cuz i'm a huge weezer fanatic (which i am and always will be) i suppose it isn't that they've lost the desperation because jesus christ, it never left them...they just aren't recording an album here, they're performing so it requires more concentration...thus, desperation is hard to come by when focused

  • @BlackHawkGaming agreed

  • @717rch Disagree, Weezer are total different band now than they were then. Even the playing live in the 90's tops this.

  • haha scott got messed up between no one else and no other one just like me, i was searchin for this song today, but accidentally searched for no one else

  • Fucking AWESOME! !!!!!

  • Where can I buy this version o.o ??

  • LOVE.

  • omg they are even better live, i love it

  • NERD ROCK !!!!!!!! LOVE IT !!!!!!

  • "No weirdness in the beginning? Oh wait, nevermind thats No Other One" hahahahahahahahahaha

  • lol at people freaking out about REHEARSAL footage. Every performance of Getchoo from the Memories tour has had tons of energy and has been way more exciting than this one.

  • So lifeless. It's heartbreaking.

  • @evilnarc

    relax, it's just a rehearsal

  • @UROCKMYSOX249 Regardless, it has but a fraction of the energy the original version had...

  • its breaking me up to say I feel like it's missing passion and feeling so sterile now. I just cant like Scott Scriner in the band I miss Matt sharp terribly :(

  • It's a little too sterile...and the fact that Rivers needs to read the lyrics or music to be able to play it is not the best sign

  • @shoelessthunder well when you've written like hundreds of songs, I imagine its easy to forget some of how they go

  • @shoelessthunder I get what your saying, not fast enough, definetely not enough distortion and no sloppy distorted sound. It was a good song cause it sounded dirty

  • HEY. This is sweet. You know what else is sweet? Our new song we made! You can go to this channel and watch it!

  • is that a boss ds1?

can you guys name the pedals for me?

  • @mebe @mebe checkout this page i also do... it has all the weezer rigs that day...

    efxporn.com/2010/10/weezer-pedal-boards-and-rigs.ht

  • @jackerofonasis Thanks for the site guy. I was always really interested in what rivers was running.

  • @mebe in this magazine it said he used a boss ds-2 and a crybaby wah

  • @mebe and it looks like he has a mxr smart gate also

  • @mebe TURBO DISTORTION DS2

  • @mebe I see that Brien uses both Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion and Boss DS-1 Distortion. Rivers Uses Boss DS-2 turbo Distortion.

  • Comment removed

  • I love seeing Rivers work the pedals.

  • I love the way he's performing in this video. Some people are smart enough to like what they like and continue to do so no matter what some knuckle head says on YouTube about why that's allegedly wrong. -#1 Troll Buffoonerized!

  • scott shriner not knowing his pinkerton in the beginning, typical. bring the sharp back!

  • @Robiskool1234 Ay man don't be hatin on Scott.

  • @Robiskool1234 Don't hate scott douche ¬_¬

  • @Robiskool1234 I actually laughed out loud at that :D

  • @thesoftsquid I also like how they completely ignore him, like that wasn't even a question hah

  • This isn't an episode of Glee. He's performing this song perfectly. "where's the emotion" Go take a tap dancing lesson or something.

  • I watched a video of this song from the memories tour and the emotion was there. It made me very happy. I'm going to see them on a pinkerton night and I absolutely can not wait until I hear this song live. I really hope Rivers keeps the emotion that I saw in that last video (not this one, lol- it was not there AT ALL in this one)- he almost seemed embarrassed to do it like he did on the album.

  • Rivers looks kinda bored playing this song. Maybe it's because he didn't like the way the pinkerton album came out?

  • wheres the emotion?

  • 3 people were standing in front of the contest winners

  • memories tour last nite...^

  • I love the wah in the lead parts!

  • LOVE!!

  • Definitely not as good as the studio version. Only problems are it's too slow, and there's no energy :/

  • Scott Shriner is quite a legend actually

Not quite as good as Matt Sharp but still!

  • Wow the quality is amazing! Great to see them so close.

  • fellas, i think i'm gonna need a rag when i see you guys at the gibson in a few weeks...

  • when vocalists are rehearsing they dont usually go for the screams cuz they dont want to wear out their voices right away so they can last through long sessions or maybe even a show later

  • yeah i wouldnt be concerned. thinking logically, when rivers gets in front of the audience for a concert, there is nothing that will stop him from pouring out 100 percent of his energy into every song, they're just rehearsing to get the techinical sutff down again. either way, it was great, i thought i was dreaming

  • couldn't agree more with @Lkycharm42

The entire time I was watching this, I couldn't believe how dead sounding it was. Pinkerton was very emotional and this has none of that emotion in it. What's the point of playing anything in the studio if you're not trying to make it sound good?

In their defense, they're probably tired as hell of playing Pinkerton stuff for everyone the past 10 years :-)

  • Pinkerton!!!

  • They are recording not performing

  • @ba3816 they are "rehearsing".

  • I think it wasn't so much the whole band that was lacking in energy just Pat on the drums, he looks bored and you should never be bored playing that song, IT SHOULD ROCK!!!!!

  • the camera guy has more energy then them

  • This is practice dude - come on.

  • I can't wait for the Roseland shows where they will play all of the Blue album AND Pinkerton.

  • you tell them brian!

  • Comment removed

  • Brian Bell looks out for the fans. 1 more reason he's awesome.

  • oh, my... this band used to be so great... i just wish they'd (meaning rivers, of course) at least try to write something of this caliber again instead of just trying to go for that "perfect popsong". true, there's glimpses of goodness on hurley and red (raditude was a total failure, though), but still nothing that comes even remotely close to this ( even if they play it like they just got woken up from com or something). it's just head and shoulders above anything afterwards... *sigh*

  • @carstenneugebauer

oh look its a little bitch

  • This is WEEZER!!!!

  • Sounds so freakin clean!

  • As much as I love Rivers, he won't ever be able to have the pain in his voice like he did in Pinkerton.

  • @BucketOfNouns not if he gets a divorce

  • The energy will show itself @ the shows!!

  • Where is that Pinkerton energy? That festering, overdriven angst?! Come on Rivers, get into it!

  • haha brian! That was hilarious. But ya, this is awesome I'm really stoked for this tour.

  • Where is the energy? Please don't make us wait 15 years to hear this amazing song only to play it like you're comatose.

  • @Lkycharm42 It's a rehearsal, dude...

  • @Lkycharm42 it's a rehearsal, and it's in the studio. fool.

  • @Tomamo5 Fair enough. I suppose for something filmed you might expect more of a "show," but I appreciate your point.

  • @Lkycharm42 It's okay. :) Saw Weezer and got on stage with Rivers at Leeds Festival. They were the highlight and most energetic band for the whole weekend. Rivers was climbing and jumping EVERYWHERE. So trust me. They CAN put on a helluva show. ;]

  • u know, i barely see them talking to each other in videos. i think a GREAT example of how relationship b/w bandmates should be is simple plan. even though sp are not my favourite band but i think they're one of the few (or maybe even the only) band whos friendship is TRUE & close.. but u guess music's more important so: WEEZER ROX!:)

  • YEEEAHHH!!!

  • Way to say it after the song Brian...

  • LOVE this.

  • hells yeah! Finally playing this album again!

  • mind blowing!

  • Fantastic.

  • I miss river's red sg :(

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit the memories tour better come to toronto, this just blew my mind

  • woooooowww

  • Pat's actually playing drums again? good for him.

  • Saw weezer in NL (Canada) and they were fantastic! I hope they come back!

  • One of my least favorite songs from Pinkerton.

    No...that is not an insult.

  • slow...

  • @mileswilldo they are performing the entire album, of course they will play this!

  • pathetic

  • @TochMaarNetOpTijd IF they even do it live. When I went to see them, they only played El Scorcho. :/

  • Quite possibly my favorite song off of Pinkerton.. Well, okay, that's pretty hard to say. Lets just say its my Fav Song from Pinkerton ...Presently :)

  • god scott shriner learn to use your fingers.

  • Comment removed

  • @jasonmiester9 Why? No other Weezer bassist did. Pinkerton songs played without a pick would sound like a truckload of ass.

  • @jasonmiester9

    that's what she said.

  • This is epic.

  • they look so =b=ored

  • Damn. Memories tour is gonna be amazing.

  • The thing I respect is that his voice did get better as the years went on (IMO) so he can go back and wail on these old songs.

  • The song is very precision-based with very little room for error...and room to move for that matter

  • One of my faves from Pinkerton. Gotta love the little treasures like this.

  • Where's the energy?

  • @kvnknrd They are in a studio setting...if it was live and they were playing like this I would wonder where the fuck rivers cuomo went. But its totally understandable being in a room surrounded by equipment.

  • @thekeegster715 watch?v=u__aDysXx9k this is the energy I'm talking about and I really doubt they will perform it with this type of velocity on the memories tour. I am not "that type of fan" but if Rivers really admires this work like he says he does today then he should show it / feel it. They look like suits playing guitars. I almost feel like the scalpers for the NYC show did me a favor now because I was about to spend $140 on seeing a really good weezer cover band

  • @kvnknrd It might sound like I'm being a defensive fuck, but my long standing theory is that it was SO critically bashed that he's almost ashamed to play them in public. He bared his soul and got essentially laughed at. Nowadays its obviously looked at much much different but maybe its like a big fuck you to the numerous people that shot it down when it was first released.

  • It seems like a slow arrangement, but this is one of my favorite songs, so it's badass to see them rocking it!

  • our camera guys are standing rightin frount of our contest winners..thats what i was trying to say

  • AWESOME.

  • Comment removed

  • Got any more of these?

  • Nice to see them playing stuff from Pinkerton.

  • I love this song.
