wow trustonlymulder.. what a smackdown indeed.. seriously get a life. Dion's record on the environment is a whole hell of a lot better than the conservative record on anything.
Best way to shut up a lib-eral? ... ask them to tell us about Dion's accomplishments on the environment; but, you can't use the words, "plan", "thought", "met", etc.....as Iggy said, "Dion didn't get it done!"....tell me where I'm wrong!!!
I completely agree with parzimmy99... ABC ABC ABC ABC ABC!!!!! The only conservative I love is Danny Williams.. and its pretty bad when even he wants his fellow conservative Harper Out of office!!
When are we going to start concentrating on the environment and other important issues. There is great quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt that i think portrays conservatives very well "A conservative is a man with two perfectly good legs who, however, has never learned to walk forward." Conservatives are afraid of changing there very train of thought which is naturally very conservative and not open to anything.
what is with conservatives and concentrating on feeble events in the past. Stephan Dion is not paul martin and the things that happened under him was not the the fault of the current liberal leader.
It is Painfully Obiouvios that the tank purchase was done to try &embarrass the previous Government more than to serve my countries needs. Now its expense has left us to purchase USED HELICOPTERS. Well done Mr. MacKay!
I wonder if he knows as they age their safe payload is reduced accordingly- unlike that of say a used tank? Yeah- these guys are experts alright- at wasteful spending.
Oh so harper spends money which is necessary in combatting islamo-fascists and terrorists, well isn't that horrible! Comparing the normal budget excluding the war and only including services and tax cuts and all that, harper is soooo much better at cutting back spending and costs.
Excluding the war is NOT an option and spending is spending as the Americans are now learning. If you can't question the purchase of muti Billion 100 heavy main battle tanks and multi Billion dollar maintenance contract that went to Germany ,I will. Also if you can't question the purchase and fan fair over the acquisition of supposed "ICE BREAKERS" that are not designed for ice over 1 meter thick, I will.....and believe me there's lots more as he scuttles our economy.
I guess now that KARZI has expressed his own dissatisfaction with the status quo in Afghanistan that will only leave Our glorious DND Minister Peter MacKay who is still satisfied with the current policy of waiting on the Taliban.
Things are still going swimmingly in Afghanistan, with a jail break in which 400 plus Taliban escape and just melt away- all this and knowingly dealing with an Afghan warden that was suspected to be on the take. Has any one told Peter MacKay that more Nato troops were killed in Afghanistan in May than were Americans in Iraq during the same month. We are being fed Bullshit by this government!
It's not a "pink triangle" that's being sewed on you Canuck facist, it's the Nazi cross and the Gestapo rank. How effeminate of you to be "amused". Now run back to whatever cesspool or jail you escaped from and reread your "Mein Kampf" again. I'm sure you didn't get it the first time.
This is how Gilhoolee gains his "credibility" and "integrity". Quote "bonkbonkyum. That'll show Paul McCartney". Nice one holyGills, very good on the "integrity" and fantastic in representing Canada especially in the intelligence category :)
""The largest and most cruel assault on marine mammals in history is being perpetrated by the Canadian govt. This horrific seal massacre is why Canada has acquired such a terrible worldwide reputation and why so many people are boycotting canada fish and other products. If Canadians can think of nothing more worthwhile to do than destroying the environment, exterminating the wildlife, and flushing the reputation of Canada into the sewer than they don't deserve either jobs or an economy""
massacre? I think you mean Harvestor cull.If you don't have the 'spine' for it, look away as the treacherous conditions under which the hunt takes place does not afford the fishermen who subsidize their income the luxury of a McDonalds slaughter house.
Typical spineless coward trying to distract attention by pointing his bloody fingers at livestock, when the subject is WILDLIFE massacre and specicide. A handful of thugs make a quick buck in the off-season on this. They made $6mil after expenses to sell fur to asia/europe and that cost taxpayers $28 mil in subsidies & $450 mil in boycotts. When their main income is lobster crab shellfish the rest of year Poor thugs they go on welfare and booze up the rest of the year so they can avoid working.
Gilhoolee: "If you don't have the 'spine' for it, look away.." Precisely what the Nazis said to the German people and the world when they gassed 6 million Jews. Look what happened to the Nazis. This is why the European Union is moving to ban the seal trade across all of Europe since they have 661 documented/filmed case of cruelty including skinning alive and taking whitecoats/baby seals proving that your DFO is a lying mafia organization. The Nazis didn't get away with it, neither will you.
Listen Rhubarb- I don't equate a Jewish person with a seal and I am truly sorry that you do.
That said, seals to me, a resource and in fairness must be dispatched in a reasonable manor. Your vile little attempt to stir up Nazi retoric is nothing more than a blight on your position, not mine.
I grow tired of you and yours. Like Mr. Paul Watson and his 'think how the seal must feel with the barbarian approaching'BS.
"seals are a resource and must be dispatched in a reasonable manor" That was the same cold dispassionate refrain uttered by Goebbels when he "dispatched" the 6 million jews. You are not only a barbarian, if you support this insanity you are psychotic and a threat to society. It is psychos like you that exterminated the Great Auk, the Newfoundland Wolf, the Labrador Duck, the Beothuk Indian and populations of sea birds & pilot whales Your hero must be Hearn who throws screaming tantrums in public
Go to your washroom and pull the K-9's from your head as you are unfit to carry them any more!lol While your at it , marvel at that gi-normous fat 40 lb. smartie between your shoulders( currently containing dumb ideas mind you) , a brain that evolved from a high protein diet-i.e. MEAT!...you have turned on your own self and I'm the psycho.lol
Your argument is as shaky as an Atlantic ice flow. Tell Paul McCartney I said hi.
Gilhollee: The profit is almost non existent for that now because of the European Union so I guess you will have beg on the streets to continue committing crimes. Your rambling insane post is no better evidence that you are either active or potential serial killer. Don't worry there are police swat teams specially trained to handle your type of mental case that will find you. In the meantime lay off stalking & molesting kids, especially your own. You might get a few years off your life sentence
I love the fact that you're trying to change the topic again, and ironically you're using Maxime Bernier.
Maxime left papers in an insecure place, admitted fault and promptly resigned, with Harper showing leadership in accepting his resignation. Now he's being investigated for his actions and we'll wait and see what happens.
But Dion had no leadership on the environment. During Kyoto, he had no plan to tackle climate change while GHG's soared. Then he said his new plan won't have a carbon tax, but now tacks one on when gas prices are skyrocketing (with no offers of alternative energy).
So not only is he not a leader, he's also downright dishonest regarding the carbon tax. Interesting how Liberal leadership and honesty means we get hammered, don't you think?
Dion was not the LEADER but a MINISTER, one who at least could recognize the SCIENCE- As for HARPER- we got DENIAL....oh,so much betterlol that he still practices it daily.
What a pathetic response! You made 3 fallacies that ultimately sapped your cause:
First, Dion was MINISTER not LEADER. So just because he's a minister he can't show leadership? If anything, it's a requirement, as he's supposed to interact with voters and MP's to sell his ideas. Not only has he no plan to sell as Enviro minister, but ran the government into Adscam as Intergov minister. So in this sense, he fails as BOTH! What do you have to say to that?
Simply put Ministers can't implement policy without the LEADERS approval. How could any Conservative minister speak about Global Warming when their LEADER was in DENIAL for so many years?
How else would John Baird be able to spend 100's of millions of our tax dollars to produce his version of " bio fuel" and soak the as of us for food stables in the process?
That takes Leadership- the kind Harper's dull wit can only provide.
Leadership? Harper at least lets his ministers talk. At least John Baird or whoever else can show up in public and give people their ideas, letting us know at the very least what they stand for.
Dion muzzles everyone by forcing them to abstain vote after vote. And he's changed his mind so many times regarding so many issues that nobody knows what he stands for. No wonder he has trouble cracking the Conservatives' lead in the polls.
lets his ministers talk, hehehehe, like MP. Pierre Poilievre? aka. "Poopey .Pants". He apologized, Harper apologized and now you should do the same for masquerading as someone your not and trying to convince people Harper has two supporters instead of one.lol
Serious, no one understands your incoherent rambling. Take that somewhere else please.
But until then, those are FACTS. Harper was the first to admit and deal with the issues stated above, while the Liberals haven't said a thing about them.
Try addressing those before rambling some incoherent garbage again, you'll look smarter that way.
Seriously man, get your incoherent ramblings out of here. If the best comeback you have is that I'm using false ID's, then you're seriously out of whack.
Here's my challenge for you: start addressing the incompletnece of your party and their waset of taxpayer money.
APOLOGIZE for not addressing the Chinese head tax, APOLOGIZE for not dealing with residential schools, APOLOGIZE for the Adscam, APOLOGIZE for making up stuff about bribing Chuck Cadman, and APOLOGIZE for wasting my time!
And thirdly, you still haven't addressed my final point. Dion promised, in a public address in Alberta in late 2006 (shortly after taking leadership) that his enviro plan will involve NO carbon tax. But now he'll tack one on at a time when gas prices are soaring. Is this just his attempt to screw us over while collecting oodles of cash or is he lying to us the entire time?
Again, try answering that with a straight and honest answer. Any "spinning" of the facts will only hurt your credibility.
And BTW, recently another arrest has been made regarding the sponsorship scandal, in which another Liberal assistant from the Chretien years was brought out by the RCMP.
So before the Liberals can claim that they've whipped the slate clean and that they're now better than everyone, maybe they should keep an eye on the news first!
How ETHICAL is our Finance Minister? I here not at all, awarding contracts to his cronies worth tens of thousands of taxdollars - circumventing putting them open to bidding- AS REQUIRED BY LAW. They seem to have a hard time with that- the LAW thing I mean. "We are TORY, don't look at us or you will never be invited to our meetings again!" lol
But that's a double standard though. Jim Flaherty was caught once and he had to apologize, but the Liberals sponsorship scandal went on for years and no one raised a peep.
Which, BTW, is also the original topic, until you conveniently changed it. Dion is not a good representative of the Liberals because he had no plan during the Kyoto years, and was intergovernmental affairs minister during the scandal (and did nothing about it). Pretty incompetent for him to fail at not 1, but 2 departments.
The Liberals have acknoledged what went wrong and admitted fault. Tories just slam doors!!!It is not inconcievable to see given the polls at the time and the looming referendum why all the checks and balances with regard to spending were not followed correctly.-
What's Jim Flaherty's excuse?
BTW- what right does any Conservative have to criticize the LIBERALS when they ACTIVELY DENIED the Global warming problem from the get go.
Jim Flaherty did admit he did something wrong. I saw him apologizing for it in Question Period.
If checks and balances can be that easily destroyed all because of Quebec, then I truly fear the Liberals, because what you're basically saying is that our basic fundamental rights can be suspended that easily. Not surprising, since Trudeau rolled in the tanks during the FLQ Crisis.
It's one thing to deny global warming and be convinced of it later on (see John Howard of Australia). But it's another to accept it but do nothing. Dion had NO PLAN during his tenure as Environment Minister, and actually told the National Post in 2006 that we're not going to meet Kyoto.
Not to mention that as Intergovernmental Affairs minister he let the sponsorhsip scandal get out of hand. That was his department, those were his staff, why did he let it spiral out of control?
And as for slamming doors, you're truly being hypocritical. You accuse Harper and co of denying, covering up, or suing opponents to get what they want. But did you forget Chretien tried to sue Gomery to invalidate his report?
Not to mention Chretien and Martin BOTH denied and covered up the scandal until the public pressured them for an inquiry. And even then they claimed to be "not corrupt" (Martin in 06 election) and Dion has "unimpeachable integrity" (statement responding to arrests).
Wrongdoing is wrongdoing. The Conservatives have been guilty of multiple events (Flaherty, Lukiwski, Kenney) and they've all apologized.
But the Liberals lied to us when they signed Kyoto claiming it'll get done (but ended up with no plan, thanks to Dion), and have yet to return even 1/10 of the $40 million they took from us during sponsorship (also thanks to Dion who ran the department during this time).
If that's not hypocrisy, then I don't know what you call it.
If you think Harpers plan of writing off tons of emissions based on NOT YET developed technology is sound -so be it. Just be sure and read what has happened on his watch and will continue to happen even before his "plan" takes effect.
And this has to do with the video or my original argument because...
The fact is that Harper is being ambitious. He's trying to fix the problem, despite his past as a climate change sceptic (although he's recently been converted). Dion has recognized the problem (rightly so) but DID NOTHING, despite that the environment was HIS profile and strong suit!
I'd rather be a guy who aims high and tries hard, and not the guy who knows what's going on but does nothing (and makes excuses for it).
Carbon storage is not piecemeal, neither is bio fuels. And Harper's slashing subsidies for the major polluting oil sands, something the LIBERALS put in.
As for Dion, he failed on environment, he failed in intergov affairs (sponsorship scandal), and now he claims the slate's clean and they're better than everyone else (in the video, offering to debate his record).
I'd believe him once he recognizes his mistakes on both profiles and publicly apologizes to Canadians the same way Lukiwski did.
A Mulroney Manouver???- The big BM wrapped himself in the flag,& promised great things for the Military giving them new dress uniforms...only to cut each consecutive budget thereafter.
FAST FORWARD...
A Harper Manouver??- wrap yourself in the flag and promise to protect our Sovereignty...then when the lights dim, strip the NAVY and AIR FORCE operating budgets to cover your gaff on the budget shortfall in Afghanistan.
Mulroney cut the military budget, but something you obviously and purposefully overlooked is the fact that THE COLD WAR WAS OVER. WE DIDN'T NEED A BRIGADE IN GERMANY ANYMORE.
Do you ever get tired of being knocked around? Normally a person learns not to make stupid comments when every single one of them get proven to be stupid.
Oh, and apologize for supporting rocket attacks on Israel.
Stephen Harper is the best Prime Minister we have had in my memory. He also happens to be the first Prime Minister in recent memory that is not a Quebec Lawyer.
if you feel so strongly, care to tell us all why his addresses on parliament hill have no more reporters?
Care to tell us why there are official parliament documents and announcements on the S.P.P corridor but he still addresses the issue outside of NAFTA and in secret with 30 big corporations from Canada, USA, and Mexico?
maybe he gets "the job done" but we vote for a prime minister as a democracy, and he doesn't act as such in recent times.
my argument is not about what side of the room you sit on, it's about core Canadian Democratic Policy. What i mentioned above pretty much guarantees that those dark-roomed money passes are still happening.
It's time for people to stop looking at what side of the gov't they are taking and to just look at what's happening to the country.
I afraid giving the new gov't "a chance" is our best bet for the future of this country. Very sadly, the liberals gave our tax dollars to fellow liberals--they called it, "entitlements". If there are backdoor dealings, then, let us expose them for court action. If they are the rantings of Ralph Goodall, well, we know it is just sad noise from a once proud party.
There seems to be confusion on the part of lie-beral supportors (they are either confused or ignore the facts). The lie-beral envelopes were full of MY money! (Taxpayer money that proven the lie-berals were corrupt.) Any payments to Mulroney were private money and, yes, I do get less excited by those envelopes--don't you?
So when an UNREGISTERED LOBBYIST (like the Big BM)or a sitting MP (like the Big BM)is paid for hisaccess to the 'inside track' and the potential windfall of Billions of TAXPAYERS dollars on projects that may not warrant it, your fine with it.
Uhhhhh....isn't the correct phase more appropriate as:
GOOD WE KNOW THEY ARE CORRUPT!
GOOD WE KNOW THEY ARE CORRUPT!
As far as I know, the only party proven corrupt in the last 100yrs is the lie-beral party. Correct? (Life is simple when you cut through left-wing garbage---sorry to be redundant.)
Your very PARTY- THE NEW CONSERVATIVES is founded on a lie, Ask DAVID ORCHARDor PETER MACKAY for that matter. Don't go back 100 years- go to the beginning and check the record- You may want to start with the Pacific Scandal ,Sir John A- his bagmen and move from there.
You know, you are right--let us clean up all corruption for the entire history of the country. Anyone in the corruption party during the Pacific Scandal--resign now. Anyone in the corruption party during the Sponsorship Scandal--resign now. Satisfied? Ohhh...you still don't like that solution? Why--it seems fair if you are going to raise a 150 old scandal. Just wondering...
Current affairs is what Dion keeps crying about. "I am the leader and I will have discipline!"--good he identified himself to the lie-beral fold, they had never considered him a leader. (And frankly, never will.)
Funny, you never find lie-berals that want to even talk about recent history--say a few "corruption years ago". So Harper is a programmer--isn't Dion a floor painter? (He constantly paints himself into corners.) We all know, of course, that he is not a leader.
Dion is a laughing stock (his own lie-berals laughed at him at the convention--"It's not fair, it's not easy to set priorities"). With the traditional lie-beral very low bar, you must admit Dion has to be bargain basement to be lower than lie-beral expectations of their leader--having a pulse and the ability to lie. Who could disagree with my un-bias assessment? Correct? Just wondering....
You do know, of course, you asst leader, Iggy, had his nomination challenged; however, the local lie-beral office locked the door early for those who wanted to submit applications to challenge. What a coward! (Sorry, when I said Asst Leader--it suggests you have a leader, which, with Dion, you don't.)
A revolt is brewing in the Conservative riding of Burnaby-New Westminster where the Party candidate in the last election - a strong social conservative - has been denied the opportunity to seek the nomination again despite massive local support.
Is that like the successful revolt in Northern Sask that caused the lie-berals to lose that seat in the recent by-election? Bird cage rags like the TOStar screamed the day after, "Liberals win 3/4" not mentioning they had 4/4 going in! The disgrace and shame of this party and its supporters--will it ever end?
Challenging the lie-beral entitlement corruption status quo is always seen as whining by the wing-nuts. Why can't you believe that Cdn's don't want the corruption anymore? We want the honesty giving by Stepahen Harper's Conservatives, not Liz Mays' apron worn by Dion.
Why can't you believe that Cdn's don't want the corruption anymore?....Um maybe it's the manor in which Donna Cadman was silenced, Or maybe its the Mulroney 'WE NEED AN INQUIRY' flipflop, or maybe its the overall deliberate leaks used to intimidate whistle blowers and keep the 'Pollet bureau" wrapped in it's cloud of secrecy and silence as we walk the road to deficit spending.
All issues above are mere grains of sand compared to lie-beral corruption. You can easily show your love for Canada is over your love for the lie-berals...will you join me in demanding the lie-berals give back the $40million they stole from Cdn taxpayers? That would indeed be Standing up for Canada! (Wouldn't it?)
You mean the $4BILLION the lie-berals could not get from the Yanks? Sounds like the Conservatives are way ahead and don't forget the BILLION gun registry or BILLION HR Scandal or the $40million Sponsorship Scandal. May god, I'm sure you must agree, when will this lie-beral incompetence end?
Conspiracy theories are fine for those who champion them. But we have to agree Stephen Harper is running the country better than it could be run by any other of the so called contenders. And certainly better than the previous ones.
I'm still waiting on your opinion on the SPP, and why you feel that Harper is the wonderful PM you claim.
Harper says that the reason why there are no reporters on Parliament Hill is because his coordinators don't let them ask questions, but "Canadians don't really care".
THEY DON'T KNOW. and if the only use for news reporters is to debunk and scrutinize the acts of our leaders, then we are just trusting Harper as much as any PM related in any scandal.
I'm sure British MPs are just as passionate about their beliefs as Canadian MPs are, but the Brits manage to keep their house from turning into a three-ring circus unlike our MPs.
Hehe 90 per cent of canadians polled reject the idea of foreign cops carrying their weapons into canada without a permit.Check my name under bulletins for more info.
the house of commons has become a complete zoo. Absolutely ridiculous. People shouting and hollering ridiculous, infantile words of competition... where does this get us? We should stop giving these people our tax $. All they're doing is wasting time and our hard-earned $ with their bickering.
Do you think the Senate will be any better once elected as Harper wants? Now the are responsible to Canada, his wish is that he sign there electoral papers making them responsible to him.We will have two Houses of Commons, divided along party lines and no sober second thought.
I agree. CPAC showed an entire British Question Period a little while ago. There were about twice as many British MPs crammed into a space about half the size of the Canadian House of Commons, and yet they all managed to maintain decorum. The Speaker only had to intervene a couple of times, and even then the infractions were minor. It makes me ashamed to be a Canadian watching our MPs chirp and yelp like hyenas to the point where you can't even hear whoever has the floor. Shameful.
It's passion for there job and beliefs, that makes them "chirp and yelp like hyenas". The environment is a 'heated' topic these days as well, if you'll forgive the pun. Of course, there mothers could of taught them some manners.
Does lowering existing pesticide regulations to allow the importation of American Food stuffs help Canadians ,their health or their enviroment?
Now some allowable pesticide levels in CANADA are 400 times greater than allowed by the EU. And done only to match the good old USA. Thanks Harper it shows who really is looking out for CANADA and it's children!
Our Prime Minister is content to have American Companies that have won contracts to look after CANADIAN Medical records simply hand them over to the AMERICAN Government as part of the PATRIOT ACT. Such is the caliber of our Prime Minister's leadership. He doesn't know where to draw the line...literally.
I posted the link in your comments section.... British Columbia's privacy commissioner says American authorities will be able to use the Patriot Act to get access to the private information on Canadians if personal records are outsourced to U.S. companies.
You may also be interested to know Canadian companies that have won some US defense contracts are forbidden to employ Canadians who were not BORN in Canada on some contracts. Are we to allow another Country to create two classes of Canadian?
The silence from our PMO speaks volumes.
Once again HARPER has rolled over for the US, kicked Canada in the teeth and by doing so has given the terrorists what they want..namely to divide us.
Don't be a typical American and call others liars indiscriminately.YOU NEED TO... Flush out your head gear, check your facts and then remove that "sunshine pump" you have had up your ass for the last eight years.
I have done research on Harper and his policies and I believe you are distorting the truth. Harper has undone a lot of the damage done by Martin's government. Now give him time to do the right thing.
If I lived in a resource depleted country, a country so starved for energy it's not beyond going to war to secure supplies, then I too might like Mr. Harper, but I'm not, so I don't.
Harper is Canada's best bet for the future. You seem to prefer a corrupt canada that seeks to entrench the liberals in power when all they do is flip flop on every single issue. They seem to care less about Canada than the next check the receive. Canada can't be a true world partner in such a system. A united Canada and America is best for North America and the world. And America has every right to go to war to secure oil. Any nation would do the same thing.
"Harper is Canada's best bet for the future."....The question is , Is that Your future(America's) orour future?
Canada is at its best when it can say: You are wrong America and, You are wrong America. You can't just go to war because you want what someone else has, be it oil or what have you. Your one statement demonstrates the diverse nature of our two Countries. Where does it come from one might ask? Perhaps because we were once invaded by a foreign power...namely the USA.
Harper does not agree with America on all issues, and you know that. He has spoken out on trade practices. Any nation has the right to secure resources its society needs. That's just common sense. And America only invaded Canada because it was at war with Britain and there were british soldiers in Canada. Makes common sense to me.
then why wouldn't any other country have the right to invade America to secure (for themselves) any of the resources within North America? You can't have it both ways you know. That would be hipocrisy
With American forces in Iraq for nearly 6 years, you would think oil would be cheaper and we wouldn't be paying over $3/gallon -- if we truly went there to secure oil.
Actually, we thought (or were told) that lie-berals represented, "Canadian Values". When we found the lie-berals were corrupt--we realized that Canadians were better than this and deserved better. That is why they threw lie-berals out and voted in Stephen Harper and his Conservative Party. Stand up for Canada!!!
Actually, Harper lost 10 points in the polls by talking about the environment. Read the papers. He smacked his own ass, no one else's. And I am NOT a Liberal.
What people seem to forget is that Paul Martins budgets gave billions of tax breaks and incentives to alberta oil sands projects in the 90s, and now they are crying foul when they pollute...and all these budgets came at the same time or after they signed on to Kyoto...think about it..the 'liberal = environmental' is a sham of epic proportions.
You guys are so stupid. I like how you only showed one part of the story. If you look at the reality of it, you would see that Harper has said way more negative remarks in regards to global warming than dion. And over all, Dion is way more enviromentally friendly than Harper. Don't believe me? Fine - but history doesn't share your views.
...how would you to lose your job so that Dion can basically just hand $100,000,000,000 right over to Russia and China, so they can build even more coal fired generators (China is building over 1000 as we speak) and more of our jobs such as the auto industry can disappear forever. There's no evidence that man made CO2 has any effect on global temperature. Read for a change instead of spouting liberal socialist lies.
Thank you Mr. Harper for in fact proving that the environment is a priority for your government. You're in power now and you ARE doing things. Let's see the critics talk specifically why they don't like each initiative. They won't. They're not as pro-environment as they are partisan politicians and hacks.
You've had a year Mr. Harper, Mr. Dion had a year and half. That seems pretty even - why don't you accept that debate instead of changing the subject to the same old liberal past-record argument that you always use. You're in power now, why don't YOU prove that YOU'RE going to do something serious with the environment portfolio?
That was some fantastic rhetoric - way to go PM. Dion became Environment Minister in July 2004. He actually set in motion a great deal before your tore it apart when you came into power with your 'Made in Canada' plan, which basically amounted to scrapping every environmental initiative and replacing it with nothing. You were challenged to a debate and you spewed a bunch of irrelevant rubbish while your puppets whooped it up behind you.
Well of course it's partisan. Thank goodness for YouTube and blogs so that people like Leonard Asper aren't brainwashing all of us the way you have been.
So let me get this straight. The only thing you know about me is that I downvote partisan asshole videos, and that I have Liberal in my name. Using this data you have determined that I have been brainwashed? You're an idiot. You use logical fallacies to try to damage control that fact.
Yea, but its like failing a school subject for 13 years, and then coming out and wanting to be a professor in that field. Dion and the Liberal party can't, or really shouldn't be lecturing others on the environmental issue, (for severe lack of credibility).
Not only did the lie-berals not earn it--they actually stole from us!
I'd say any fair minded, non-political individual--myself, for example--would say, give the Conservatives half the time we gave the lie-berals to see how they do (that actually, would make them twice as good as lie-berals, wouldn't it?).
Uhhhhhh?...sorry, but it seems you are saying the lie-berals did NOTHING while in power, and for the Conservatives to do half of that is still, NOTHING. (I don't think that is what you meant.) Regardless, all indications are that the knives are out for Dion--who should be his replacement? Rae? Iggy? Kennedy?--all sad "second stringers" in a once proud party. How tragic for the party--but, good for Canada so Mr. Harper stays in power.
Red or blue pill? All the same, puppets put in place to deceive people they are in a free society. The people need to wake -up and see the fraud that system is. that was pretty standard and tame. I wouldn't say that was a smack down.

Ya Harper doesn't give a xxxx about the environment. Dion at least is polite and wants to have a real debate!
Strange that Harper couldn't even get the date of the election straight - he said in a speech that it was February 14!!!!! LOL His grammar is bad too

When are Canadians going to start worrying about issues that are much bigger then minor events in the past.

what is with conservatives and concentrating on feeble events in the past.

MacKay!

Cnd1867 3 years ago
Excluding the war is NOT an option and spending is spending as the Americans are now learning. If you can't question the purchase of muti Billion 100 heavy main battle tanks and multi Billion dollar maintenance contract that went to Germany ,I will. Also if you can't question the purchase and fan fair over the acquisition of supposed "ICE BREAKERS" that are not designed for ice over 1 meter thick, I will.....and believe me there's lots more as he scuttles our economy.

Typical spineless coward trying to distract attention by pointing his bloody fingers at livestock, when the subject is WILDLIFE massacre and specicide. markdj431 3 years ago
DAMM MEDIA!....so slanted, must be controlled...must be controlled...must be
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
I love the fact that you're trying to change the topic again, and ironically you're using Maxime Bernier.
Maxime left papers in an insecure place, admitted fault and promptly resigned, with Harper showing leadership in accepting his resignation. Now he's being investigated for his actions and we'll wait and see what happens.
lkcwu 3 years ago
But Dion had no leadership on the environment. During Kyoto, he had no plan to tackle climate change while GHG's soared. Then he said his new plan won't have a carbon tax, but now tacks one on when gas prices are skyrocketing (with no offers of alternative energy).
So not only is he not a leader, he's also downright dishonest regarding the carbon tax. Interesting how Liberal leadership and honesty means we get hammered, don't you think?
lkcwu 3 years ago
Dion was not the LEADER but a MINISTER, one who at least could recognize the SCIENCE- As for HARPER- we got DENIAL....oh,so much betterlol that he still practices it daily.
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
What a pathetic response! You made 3 fallacies that ultimately sapped your cause:
First, Dion was MINISTER not LEADER. So just because he's a minister he can't show leadership? If anything, it's a requirement, as he's supposed to interact with voters and MP's to sell his ideas. Not only has he no plan to sell as Enviro minister, but ran the government into Adscam as Intergov minister. So in this sense, he fails as BOTH! What do you have to say to that?
lkcwu 3 years ago
Simply put Ministers can't implement policy without the LEADERS approval. How could any Conservative minister speak about Global Warming when their LEADER was in DENIAL for so many years?
How else would John Baird be able to spend 100's of millions of our tax dollars to produce his version of " bio fuel" and soak the as of us for food stables in the process?
That takes Leadership- the kind Harper's dull wit can only provide.
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
No wonder he has trouble cracking the Conservatives' lead in the polls.
lkcwu 3 years ago
lets his ministers talk, hehehehe, like MP. Pierre Poilievre? aka. "Poopey .Pants". He apologized, Harper apologized and now you should do the same for masquerading as someone your not and trying to convince people Harper has two supporters instead of one.lol
Apologise!
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
sock puppet.
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Secondly, denial is hardly a word to describe Harper after all the denials from the Liberals. Let's count them off, shall we?
1.) Harper apologized and compensated for the Chinese head tax, while Liberals offered neither.
2.) Harper addressed the tainted blood scandal, something Liberals never addressed.
3.) Harper is dealing with the residential schools issue, while this has NEVER showed up on the Liberal agenda.
Please get your facts straight first before you brand that word.

Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Serious, no one understands your incoherent rambling. Take that somewhere else please.
But until then, those are FACTS. Harper was the first to admit and deal with the issues stated above, while the Liberals haven't said a thing about them.
Try addressing those before rambling some incoherent garbage again, you'll look smarter that way.

Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Seriously man, get your incoherent ramblings out of here. If the best comeback you have is that I'm using false ID's, then you're seriously out of whack.
Here's my challenge for you: start addressing the incompletnece of your party and their waset of taxpayer money.
APOLOGIZE for not addressing the Chinese head tax, APOLOGIZE for not dealing with residential schools, APOLOGIZE for the Adscam, APOLOGIZE for making up stuff about bribing Chuck Cadman, and APOLOGIZE for wasting my time!
lkcwu 3 years ago
So, Fry which is the truth 9 years of service or you are just 22? Perhaps you joined up at 11(lol).
You know the Boy Scouts can't be included as Military service don't you?
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
And thirdly, you still haven't addressed my final point. Dion promised, in a public address in Alberta in late 2006 (shortly after taking leadership) that his enviro plan will involve NO carbon tax. But now he'll tack one on at a time when gas prices are soaring. Is this just his attempt to screw us over while collecting oodles of cash or is he lying to us the entire time?
Again, try answering that with a straight and honest answer. Any "spinning" of the facts will only hurt your credibility.
lkcwu 3 years ago
Gagliano? That is unreal!
And BTW, recently another arrest has been made regarding the sponsorship scandal, in which another Liberal assistant from the Chretien years was brought out by the RCMP.
So before the Liberals can claim that they've whipped the slate clean and that they're now better than everyone, maybe they should keep an eye on the news first!
lkcwu 3 years ago
How ETHICAL is our Finance Minister? I here not at all, awarding contracts to his cronies worth tens of thousands of taxdollars - circumventing putting them open to bidding- AS REQUIRED BY LAW. They seem to have a hard time with that- the LAW thing I mean. "We are TORY, don't look at us or you will never be invited to our meetings again!" lol
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
But that's a double standard though. Jim Flaherty was caught once and he had to apologize, but the Liberals sponsorship scandal went on for years and no one raised a peep.
Which, BTW, is also the original topic, until you conveniently changed it. Dion is not a good representative of the Liberals because he had no plan during the Kyoto years, and was intergovernmental affairs minister during the scandal (and did nothing about it). Pretty incompetent for him to fail at not 1, but 2 departments.
lkcwu 3 years ago 2
The Liberals have acknoledged what went wrong and admitted fault. Tories just slam doors!!!It is not inconcievable to see given the polls at the time and the looming referendum why all the checks and balances with regard to spending were not followed correctly.-
What's Jim Flaherty's excuse?
BTW- what right does any Conservative have to criticize the LIBERALS when they ACTIVELY DENIED the Global warming problem from the get go.
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Jim Flaherty did admit he did something wrong. I saw him apologizing for it in Question Period.
If checks and balances can be that easily destroyed all because of Quebec, then I truly fear the Liberals, because what you're basically saying is that our basic fundamental rights can be suspended that easily. Not surprising, since Trudeau rolled in the tanks during the FLQ Crisis.
lkcwu 3 years ago
It's one thing to deny global warming and be convinced of it later on (see John Howard of Australia). But it's another to accept it but do nothing. Dion had NO PLAN during his tenure as Environment Minister, and actually told the National Post in 2006 that we're not going to meet Kyoto.
Not to mention that as Intergovernmental Affairs minister he let the sponsorhsip scandal get out of hand. That was his department, those were his staff, why did he let it spiral out of control?
lkcwu 3 years ago
And as for slamming doors, you're truly being hypocritical. You accuse Harper and co of denying, covering up, or suing opponents to get what they want. But did you forget Chretien tried to sue Gomery to invalidate his report?
Not to mention Chretien and Martin BOTH denied and covered up the scandal until the public pressured them for an inquiry. And even then they claimed to be "not corrupt" (Martin in 06 election) and Dion has "unimpeachable integrity" (statement responding to arrests).
lkcwu 3 years ago
Wrongdoing is wrongdoing. The Conservatives have been guilty of multiple events (Flaherty, Lukiwski, Kenney) and they've all apologized.
But the Liberals lied to us when they signed Kyoto claiming it'll get done (but ended up with no plan, thanks to Dion), and have yet to return even 1/10 of the $40 million they took from us during sponsorship (also thanks to Dion who ran the department during this time).
If that's not hypocrisy, then I don't know what you call it.
lkcwu 3 years ago
If you think Harpers plan of writing off tons of emissions based on NOT YET developed technology is sound -so be it. Just be sure and read what has happened on his watch and will continue to happen even before his "plan" takes effect.
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
And this has to do with the video or my original argument because...
The fact is that Harper is being ambitious. He's trying to fix the problem, despite his past as a climate change sceptic (although he's recently been converted). Dion has recognized the problem (rightly so) but DID NOTHING, despite that the environment was HIS profile and strong suit!
I'd rather be a guy who aims high and tries hard, and not the guy who knows what's going on but does nothing (and makes excuses for it).
lkcwu 3 years ago
Carbon storage is not piecemeal, neither is bio fuels. And Harper's slashing subsidies for the major polluting oil sands, something the LIBERALS put in.
As for Dion, he failed on environment, he failed in intergov affairs (sponsorship scandal), and now he claims the slate's clean and they're better than everyone else (in the video, offering to debate his record).
I'd believe him once he recognizes his mistakes on both profiles and publicly apologizes to Canadians the same way Lukiwski did.

Better this rather than envelopes full of our money passed in dark restaurants to lie-beral supporters...right?
The secrets, bribes, lies, thief, entitlements of the lie-berals were so very disgusting. Have they no shame? Just wondering...
mikefastener 3 years ago
my argument is not about what side of the room you sit on, it's about core Canadian Democratic Policy. What i mentioned above pretty much guarantees that those dark-roomed money passes are still happening.
It's time for people to stop looking at what side of the gov't they are taking and to just look at what's happening to the country.

i agree... somewhat.
I say we DEMAND to be TOLD what will be done to fix problems, and that we should take a more active role in watching where our tax dollars are going.
giving the new government "a chance" like you say, is just not good enough (imo). There are already backdoor dealings. NAU is real.
tillo2008 3 years ago
I afraid giving the new gov't "a chance" is our best bet for the future of this country. Very sadly, the liberals gave our tax dollars to fellow liberals--they called it, "entitlements". If there are backdoor dealings, then, let us expose them for court action. If they are the rantings of Ralph Goodall, well, we know it is just sad noise from a once proud party.

There seems to be confusion on the part of lie-beral supportors (they are either confused or ignore the facts). The lie-beral envelopes were full of MY money! 150 years ago -thats "current affairs" to the Tory's I know.
I still can't believe Harper is a computer programmer,maybe on a Commodore 64?lol
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Current affairs is what Dion keeps crying about. "I am the leader and I will have discipline!"--good he identified himself to the lie-beral fold, they had never considered him a leader. (And frankly, never will.)
mikefastener 3 years ago
Funny, you never find lie-berals that want to even talk about recent history--say a few "corruption years ago". So Harper is a programmer--isn't Dion a floor painter? (He constantly paints himself into corners.) We all know, of course, that he is not a leader.
mikefastener 3 years ago
Dion IS a leader- and best of all he has
a T E A M to lead.
Harper is a SHEPARD,he heards SHEEP,Baaa - or is he is just a RAM, as in 'Ram' through his minority agenda.
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Dion is a laughing stock (his own lie-berals laughed at him at the convention--"It's not fair, it's not easy to set priorities"). With the traditional lie-beral very low bar, you must admit Dion has to be bargain basement to be lower than lie-beral expectations of their leader--having a pulse and the ability to lie. Who could disagree with my un-bias assessment? Correct? Just wondering....
mikefastener 3 years ago 2
You do know, of course, you asst leader, Iggy, had his nomination challenged; however, the local lie-beral office locked the door early for those who wanted to submit applications to challenge. What a coward! (Sorry, when I said Asst Leader--it suggests you have a leader, which, with Dion, you don't.)
mikefastener 3 years ago

Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Is that like the successful revolt in Northern Sask that caused the lie-berals to lose that seat in the recent by-election? mikefastener 3 years ago

Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Challenging the lie-beral entitlement corruption status quo is always seen as whining by the wing-nuts. Why can't you believe that Cdn's don't want the corruption anymore? We want the honesty giving by Stepahen Harper's Conservatives, not Liz Mays' apron worn by Dion.
mikefastener 3 years ago
Why can't you believe that Cdn's don't want the corruption anymore?....Um maybe it's the manor in which Donna Cadman was silenced, Or maybe its the Mulroney 'WE NEED AN INQUIRY' flipflop, or maybe its the overall deliberate leaks used to intimidate whistle blowers and keep the 'Pollet bureau" wrapped in it's cloud of secrecy and silence as we walk the road to deficit spending.
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
All issues above are mere grains of sand compared to lie-beral corruption. You can easily show your love for Canada is over your love for the lie-berals...will you join me in demanding the lie-berals give back the $40million they stole from Cdn taxpayers? That would indeed be Standing up for Canada! (Wouldn't it?)

I agree. CPAC showed an entire British Question Period a little while ago. There were about twice as many British MPs crammed into a space about half the size of the Canadian House of Commons, and yet they all managed to maintain decorum.

Damn! this is what the average canadian voter thinks.........lol.

Gillhoolee 4 years ago
Where's your proof? You have a link?
baird007 4 years ago
I posted the link in your comments section.... British Columbia's privacy commissioner says American authorities will be able to use the Patriot Act to get access to the private information on Canadians if personal records are outsourced to U.S. companies.
Gillhoolee 4 years ago
You may also be interested to know Canadian companies that have won some US defense contracts are forbidden to employ Canadians who were not BORN in Canada on some contracts. Are we to allow another Country to create two classes of Canadian?
The silence from our PMO speaks volumes.
Once again HARPER has rolled over for the US, kicked Canada in the teeth and by doing so has given the terrorists what they want..namely to divide us.

You need to stop lying.

I wish they were lies, but alas they are not.

Now give him time to do the right thing.
homeopt 4 years ago
Harper has had enough time.
If I lived in a resource depleted country, a country so starved for energy it's not beyond going to war to secure supplies, then I too might like Mr. Harper, but I'm not, so I don't.
Gillhoolee 4 years ago
Harper is Canada's best bet for the future. You seem to prefer a corrupt canada that seeks to entrench the liberals in power when all they do is flip flop on every single issue. They seem to care less about Canada than the next check the receive. Canada can't be a true world partner in such a system. A united Canada and America is best for North America and the world. And America has every right to go to war to secure oil. Any nation would do the same thing.
homeopt 4 years ago
"Harper is Canada's best bet for the future."....The question is , Is that Your future(America's) orour future?
Canada is at its best when it can say: You are wrong America and, You are wrong America. You can't just go to war because you want what someone else has, be it oil or what have you. Your one statement demonstrates the diverse nature of our two Countries. Where does it come from one might ask? Perhaps because we were once invaded by a foreign power...namely the USA.
Gillhoolee 4 years ago
Harper does not agree with America on all issues, and you know that. He has spoken out on trade practices. Any nation has the right to secure resources its society needs. That's just common sense. And America only invaded Canada because it was at war with Britain and there were british soldiers in Canada. Makes common sense to me.
homeopt 4 years ago
then why wouldn't any other country have the right to invade America to secure (for themselves) any of the resources within North America? You can't have it both ways you know. That would be hipocrisy
paulvaliulis 4 years ago
Well, if those nations could get away with it they would. No nation will allow itself to be squeezed to death slowly, not when they have options.
homeopt 4 years ago
they have the right, just not the power, and the places with power don't have the balls, its not worth it right now.
pythag123 4 years ago
With American forces in Iraq for nearly 6 years, you would think oil would be cheaper and we wouldn't be paying over $3/gallon -- if we truly went there to secure oil.
lcc1211 4 years ago
Remember, you also thought you would be greeted as liberators. I guess that was to translate into first "dibs" over China.
Gillhoolee 4 years ago

Hear Hear!
Rehdarh 4 years ago
...how would you to lose your job so that Dion can basically just hand $100,000,000,000 right over to Russia and China, so they can build even more coal fired generators (China is building over 1000 as we speak) and more of our jobs such as the auto industry can disappear forever.

Yea he's doing things, with all the speed and grace of an INOOKSHOOK

Who cares?
At least he's not stealing out of our pockets like that cocksucker Chretien, who should be behind bars.
Flamesfan7 5 years ago
You've had a year Mr. Harper, Mr. Dion had a year and half. That seems pretty even - why don't you accept that debate instead of changing the subject to the same old liberal past-record argument that you always use. You're in power now, why don't YOU prove that YOU'RE going to do something serious with the environment portfolio?
Scheao 5 years ago
dion, being the chretienite that he was and is, had, 12 years, was it?
phobal 5 years ago
That was some fantastic rhetoric - way to go PM. Dion became Environment Minister in July 2004. He actually set in motion a great deal before your tore it apart when you came into power with your 'Made in Canada' plan, which basically amounted to scrapping every environmental initiative and replacing it with nothing. You were challenged to a debate and you spewed a bunch of irrelevant rubbish while your puppets whooped it up behind you.
Scheao 5 years ago
Great video. Dion is a joke. And what a wicked delivery by Stephen Harper.... No dithering required (as compared to our last "prime minister")

HelloHelloLiberals 5 years ago
Well of course it's partisan. Thank goodness for YouTube and blogs so that people like Leonard Asper aren't brainwashing all of us the way you have been.
trustonlymulder 5 years ago
So let me get this straight. The only thing you know about me is that I downvote partisan asshole videos, and that I have Liberal in my name. Using this data you have determined that I have been brainwashed? You're an idiot. You use logical fallacies to try to damage control that fact.
HelloHelloLiberals 5 years ago
Yea, but its like failing a school subject for 13 years, and then coming out and wanting to be a professor in that field. Dion and the Liberal party can't, or really shouldn't be lecturing others on the environmental issue, (for severe lack of credibility).
hetman11 5 years ago
Gee Dion suggesting we have a debate about the future of the environment. Stephen Harper responds with "Let's talk about the past"
Canada's New Government's talking points are getting a little stale.
darrenmcewen 5 years ago
Actually...what we have seen in the past that with Dion, the debate about the future of the environment will never get past talking!
Better to give the new guys some time to fix the lie-beral mess. How about half the time the lie-berals had, say 6-1/2years? Sound fair, right?
mikefastener 3 years ago
Yes Mike, "Better to give the new guys some time...."
We would have to GIVE it to them, as they certainly can't earn it!
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Not only did the lie-berals not earn it--they actually stole from us!
I'd say any fair minded, non-political individual--myself, for example--would say, give the Conservatives half the time we gave the lie-berals to see how they do (that actually, would make them twice as good as lie-berals, wouldn't it?).
mikefastener 3 years ago
Tories are happy to do NOTHING in power,
and half of NOTHING -is STILL NOTHING!
Gillhoolee 3 years ago
Uhhhhhh?...sorry, but it seems you are saying the lie-berals did NOTHING while in power, and for the Conservatives to do half of that is still, NOTHING. (I don't think that is what you meant.) Regardless, all indications are that the knives are out for Dion--who should be his replacement? Rae? Iggy? Kennedy?--all sad "second stringers" in a once proud party. How tragic for the party--but, good for Canada so Mr. Harper stays in power.
