  • What's more... (thanks for the limit on character count) is that we deaf people have had to tolerate hearing people's scorn and insults, related to our voices.

    We've been compared to the mentally retarded, and apes due to that. Please, be more mindful of treating us with respect, instead of regarding us as dumb animals.

    The very fact that they compared an extremely articulate, intelligent, and prominent figure of our community to a physically impaired person is very, very, VERY conscending.

  • As a deaf person, I DO NOT appreciate the fact that you neglected to subtitle or caption this video!

    And secondly, I don't appreciate this remark in the official transcript of the interview. Let me elaborate:

    ALAN HURWITZ (very heavy and guttural, indiscernible deaf voice, similar to the voice of a person with severe cerebral palsy, plus voice of interpreter): I had planned to make this, actually my last position.

    "Voice of a person with severe cerebal palsy"?? That was LOW. And very audist!
