I've been wanting to play this ever since I heard about it. This is being sold outside of Japan, right? I wish Namco had a database or tracking of which operators they sold their cabinets to so we could find & check out games like this.
@wtcvidman These are actually built and sold in the US. Namco does have a database for tracking machine locations, goto Facebook and search Pac-Man Battle Royale. They have a FB app which has a location tracker although it only includes locations where operators or players have told them about where a machine is
@wolf4gang It's been available since January 2011. You can find locations by finding the Pac-Man Battle Royale Facebook page, they are tracking places where machines are finding themselves. :)
@zanretsukenXII The game has not been released yet - there has been a delay. But according to Namco at IAAPA this past week, the game will get a limited release at the end of year so hang tight. When it's released just check with an arcade distributor like BMI Gaming.
@mgabrysSF The ghosts will kill you just like the other pac-people will kill you. And once the power pellots are all gone, they don't refresh until all the smaller dots get eaten.
In this one you don't beat your friends by scoring higher than them, you beat them by eating them.
@Anoush13 Not necessarily as an answer to the first question. This is intended for the out-of-home amusement market so if you want to play it, you might find it at an arcade, bar, theater, etc. It's not out until September though. Re: the 2nd question, this is a modified version of Pac-Man CE so a port would be easy but the point is to give real arcades a boost and bring Pac-Man back to it's arcade roots.
@Anoush13 I'm curious to know how you came to that assumption. Thousands of arcade units are sold in the US alone every year, making millions of dollars for manufacturers and operators. Just because they are ignored by Game Informer or IGN doesn't mean that there isn't a market. I know this as I own an arcade and I know many others who also have good business in this market. My arcade is packed every weekend and not always with the same people either.
@Anoush13 One way you can find out is visit the websites Aurcade or ArcadeFly (just add a .com to the end of either one). They track arcade locations in the US. Not every location is on there or completely up-to-date but they have a lot of places and you might discover a place near you, maybe even one that will get Battle Royale. :) ArcadeHeroes (.com) tracks new game releases in-depth too, along with new location news and pretty much everything arcade.
Gameplay is totaly ruined by this pacman eats pacman. I pray to the pacman gods we get other modes on our console's too. Pacmans should not grow after eating a big pil. And should not eat each other. The vs mode should be the same as singleplayer pacman like pacman ce.
Please include other longplay modes in/ coop and vserus please. ANd make it online.
@xldicelx At the moment, Namco is only talking about a tabletop version as it fits into the target market better but I imagine that they could do an upright version if they really wanted to.
@theatarian i was referring if this was going to come out for any home console such as wii or playstation systems. I was just curious. Either way it doesn't seem to have the same impact as a fighting game but... it's cool to see the innovation version of PACMAN.
@xldicelx I asked the game designer about this possibility at the show and while he didn't deny that possibility, he also didn't commit to anything. If it does come to consoles, it likely won't be for about two years which has been the trend lately for Namco products. It really hurt arcade operators a few years back when Namco would release the console version of a game a couple of months after the arcade and I think they learned their lesson after that.
@theatarian booooooooooooooooo!! 2yrs!!?!! booooooo!!! lol.. i probably wont purchase until it's dropped in price either way. lol it's all good.. cool innovated way to play pac-man though...
Once the game rolls out in September then any authorized Namco distributor will be carrying them which is pretty much any company that carries coin-op games. There are different distributors for every area so you'll have to do some looking around but there are some that ship anywhere(Betson, BMIGaming, Weinerd, Eagle, etc). Rumor has it the game will cost $5000 but that could easily change. I could see it for less, can't imagine them going for more than that. Hope that helps!
if its anything like championship then the game will start to become ridiculously fast. and being the super pacman will be harder and harder to control yourself
Something really bothers me with this game It is almost broken! The big pacmen are faster than the small ones. So, once you are big, you are GUARANTEED to kill the other ones. This doesn't make any sense
@someone66666 Keep in mind that this is a beta - as the game will be released in September they have plenty of time to tweak it . You'll also notice that it usually only gives out three power-pills instead of four so one person is usually screwed unless they are really good at dodging.
So it's kind of like last-pac-man-standing versus score. Not sure if I'm that excited about playing in this fashion.
I would have thought it'd be more interesting if you played for score....trying to pick up on a chain of ghosts started by another player to get the higher bonus, for instance....or hanging by the fruit area and grab a prize someone else made appear. Maybe the final version will have that.
Do like the stand-up tabletop, tho...reminds me of old Atari football.
I could see many arcades picking this up, I might for mine. I know they are testing this out more in bars but I am confident finding one of these won't be too difficult.
@theatarian I think maybe. But I think Namco really failed on Pacman CE. Still wish I could see more Mult game cabs. But with more modern versions. Galaga Legions could work if there was two joysticks. Also i've never seen Mr.Driller in the arcade. But then again i live in arcade hell. I.e. pretty much only Namco Arcades (Aladdins Castle), yet i see nothing new there.
Not in this build but the way they have made the game at this point, there's no point in getting extra lives since you'll start again on the next round.
There should be a rom for this somewhere...

Make it the same? Why do people hate changes?
BTW This multiplayer Pac Man Game, not single player. It called features. they add stuff to make it more addicting and fun.
Would you rather it being the same as the original Pac Man? Cause it would be boring that way,
