It's a good sensitivity exercise for testing "jin" in which the partner coorperatively grabs onto the master's hand and provides a "frame" for him to issue energy on. If the partner were to relax and hang on loosely, things would be much different.

The unbalancing is real. However, this teacher's push hand method is very unhealthy as he short cut the power only to the lower half of his body and not from the total body. That is why his rear neck knee cap are very stiff. Also he would have trouble neutralize a fast attack. In the video, he has lot of time to neutralizes the partner.

looks right to me, i have felt this sort of energy from taiji players with a high level of mastery. i can understand people thinking it is fake,i once touched hands with one such master,when i returned to training after lunch and told my taiji instuctor he thought i had read to many classics and imagined it. i thank him 4 that because it made me study the classics more and use them as terms of reference.i now study at a school that fits those terms and expresses those energies. it is possible.

As a coorperative drill that teaches students how to receive energy, it's good. But such demo should not be confused with realistic applications or proof of a teacher's fighting skills.

Mr. Zhu shared his underdtanding without withholding to me, and vice versa. We are brothers on the same path towards the same quest. Yes, we cross hands, but without contention involved. Personally I enjoy his company, and it is my honor for him to remain the same to me.

I had the privilege to put together a seminar for Huaishiang Wang in Cleveland. I also had the honor(thanks to Huaishiang)to study & train everyday with Master Zhu in private for 5 weeks in Beijing. I can say though it does not look real, it is as real as the sky above & the earth below!!
