@MrMaybeimdreaming100 Hi, yes actually. Our 3D Animation & Visual Effects program also covers modelling as a specialization. You can find more information on the program at vfs(dot)com/3d. Thanks!
Wow, what song is the first one?! I love it! Inspirational work! I've almost done saving up tuition for any 3D school in Canada (I can't decide where to go so I'm saving for the costliest one.) Can't wait!
@Benhur3243 All of the model and demo reels that we upload to our channel were made by students as projects at VFS. The reels are meant to show the final product of a year of study at VFS and unfortunately aren't meant to be used as tutorials.
@ikukelas Hi, that is great that your goal is to join us! You can find details on the 3D Animation & Visual Effects program and entry requirements online at vfs(dot)com/3D. One of the application requirements is a portfolio that showcases your work (including 3D and hand drawn). If you are worried about your drawing skills, we would recommend speaking to an Admissions Advisor who can give you an idea of the portfolio expectations. They can be reached online at vfs(dot)com/startnow. Thanks!
The entire 3D Animation & Visual Effects program at VFS, from start to finish, is a year in duration. Early (very early) development of students' reels only begins about halfway through that year.
We feel that anything less would be shortchanging our students, who will rely on their reels more than any piece of paper, and that the results speak for themselves.
after viewing several of these videos, i have to say.. why not use these as skin templates for an animation program that can handle the graphics and make some motion pictures :)
lol on average a charater like this runs about 200,000 polys most video games can only handle 6-10k per character if there were to go in game they'd look like shit.
I dont think either of those are true. I havent worked with film quality chars, but for final renders, they can get way higher than 200k.
As for games, it depends on the game, but 6-10 k tris (not necessarily polys) does seem to be the most common range for AAA games. However, those use texturing to not look like shit. Eg, Gears of War. 8-12 k tri range, but look equally well as these models.
u have no idea what are u saying and who ur directing to this people is the best of the best on 3d modeling and u ... ur justa frustrated youtube sucky user... get a life dont like this dotn watch it
i have to ask... Are these demo reels? or are these representing the school more than the student? i notice like 25 ppl in the credits it makes me wonder
I like the elephant theme that ties them together. That is one intimidating troll... looks like he has the brains ta mash you but not the brains to chat. Love 'em both.
The fact that both pieces are from found concept pieces is really very cool.
Most reels are conceived by the modelers so they have full understanding of the source, but here the gaps have been filled wonderfully, and both Voja and the original artist's hand remain visible in the final renders.
damn the characters are just awsome lol

its not the school, it's the amount of time they actually have to create there demo reels, about a year? as opposed to fullsail university, 3 months.

i was told by a former student you get to choose between Maya or XSI and i think maybe 3ds max
FireyDragon56 2 years ago
That's why we using normal and displacement mapping to put high res detail onto a lower poly model.
enterfailedment 2 years ago
3ds max is mainly for games and such,
Maya is for Movies
xSpringfieldx 2 years ago
and XSI is for AWESOME! :p
jviejou 2 years ago
there is no such thing as maya is for this and max is for that.. you can do everything with every program. It's just about which one you prefer..
pusurss 2 years ago 16
let me rephrase myself,
Max is better for games
and Maya has better partical effects.
xSpringfieldx 2 years ago
well...maya is the industry standard for a reason. I myself prefer blender.

yeah it's not a vfx and compositing reel
but a MODELING reel ,no animation and
compositing on that we see wireframes on characters that's meant to demonstrate that
it's modled cleanly and could easily be animated
and rendred so correct that if you want
