American Express offers a FREE prepaid debit card. Also as a credit union advocate with a strong background in credit union operations, credit unions offer banking services to those unbankable you speak of. Please explain your statement of 'some people can't get a secured credit card.'
18 to 24 months is a long time for a "Maybe"! In my opinion, a prepaid debit (re-loadable) card is good for two things; 1) a preset spending limit with the advantages of having a VISA or MasterCard logo for traveling CONUS or OCONUS; 2) if you have a college student who you need to send money to and keep be on a budget. That is it! Join a credit union and get a free debit card with a VISA or MasterCard logo. What is the NCUA saying? Since this is Suze's Last Stand, Happy Retirement!

um, you do know that millions of people can't get credit cards or bank accounts. Some people can't even get a secured credit card
