  • Sunsirel, I do understand what you are saying. However as a personal finance expert myself who has walked the road of bad credit before, there are better alternatives than a prepaid debt card that cost. American Express offers a FREE prepaid debit card. Also as a credit union advocate with a strong background in credit union operations, credit unions offer banking services to those unbankable you speak of. Please explain your statement of 'some people can't get a secured credit card.'

  • 18 to 24 months is a long time for a "Maybe"! In my opinion, a prepaid debit (re-loadable) card is good for two things; 1) a preset spending limit with the advantages of having a VISA or MasterCard logo for traveling CONUS or OCONUS; 2) if you have a college student who you need to send money to and keep be on a budget. That is it! Join a credit union and get a free debit card with a VISA or MasterCard logo. What is the NCUA saying? Since this is Suze's Last Stand, Happy Retirement!

  • um, you do know that millions of people can't get credit cards or bank accounts. Some people can't even get a secured credit card
